I think Galatians 5 speaks to this... if we choose to walk in the flesh, we are under the law and under its curse. If we walk by the Spirit, we are no longer under the curse.

I absolutely believe in generational curses. My brother lived a very difficult, self imposed mostly, lifestyle of drugs, alcohol, prison, and incredible self abuse. He abused and misused every one in his life and died at the very young age of 44. My uncle on my mother’s side lived and died of very similar circumstances in his late 30s. I removed myself from my entire family and lived without any contact with my family to intentionally separate myself and my children from what I though was a situational curse. But, my oldest son has taken on the exact personality of my brother, so much so that he has even began to look, and talk, and laugh, exactly like him. He has spend about 25% of his young life incarcerated and he tried to kill two people, one of which was his uncle. I have asked multiple people what I can do, virtually all have led me to medication. My problem with that is that Jesus would not have said “well, go have a doctor prescribe Prozac!” He would have told the demon to leave his body.. All I can do is pray I suppose..

(This was edited many times in an effort to provide the best information.) Careful with exorcists if that’s the thing you decide to do. Yes, cast out the demons (there’s never just one,btw, they are hierarchical spirits that sit one level above the last until there’s the strongman above them all, which is the heavyweight that has to be binded and cast out). The world is full of people claiming to be exorcists but strong advice to know with whom you are dealing. Let the Holy Spirit intervene and lead and guide you. Be sure it’s the Holy Spirit. Human beings walk around having either Jesus spirit in them or the spirits of evil living inside them. There are only two sides to the spiritual: one good and perfect and one evil and corrupt. One of them is the master of every human soul on earth. When the demons are cast out they will return to see if the ‘house’ they were cast out of is empty (if you have accepted Jesus as your Savior and the Lord of your life and soul.) If you are still sitting on the fence that’s where the demons are delighted to find you b/c the hesitant ones usually quickly fall back off the ‘Fence of Decision’ to the evil side and become worse than before. This son of yours must be told the gospel of Jesus Christ first before he is brought before the one(s) annointed by God to do the exorcism via the name above all names, Jesus. When casting out these demons (they are spirits of the bodiless nephilm) you must realize that the person who is indwelt with these spirits will end up in a state 7 times worse than he started out if he does not choose to accept Jesus as his savior and invite the Holy Spirit of God to indwell his temple (which is his flesh body). Generational curses do indeed have physical markers in the genetics. People need to stand back from the trees of the proverbial forest and realize that , without bringing up how sin first came into being, nonetheless, all physical infirmities, all mental Illnesses, all deformities, malformations, deficiencies, insufficiencies, lack, addictions, corruptions…et al are the direct or indirect result of sin committed by the human being. Specifically, generational curses are perpetuated to each successive generation until one family member breaks the curse by casting it out of himself in the name of Jesus and calling upon Jesus to bind the demon spirits, cast them out and send them to wherever he (Jesus) chooses to send them. It was important for me, in my own personal testimony, to rebuke the enemy that deceived me and my family and break every marriage covenant and every blood covenant that had been made in every generation from me and prior to me and even unto my children and their children and all those that are to come. It was important to specifically ask for forgiveness for myself and all my previous generations and the generations that have already come and that are yet to come after me. Every sin committed was brought under the blood of Jesus along with the demons that represented them and they are bound and under the authority of Jesus who by his power did cast them out of our generations. People wonder when demons are cast out if you experience temptation with the same sin. The answer is a blunt ‘yes’. You must realize that while the demons are cast out the one thing they desire more than anything is to come back in. The way they can gain legal access/right to get back in is by tempting the human enough times that he is so weary that he commits the temptation of sin that is being offered. The demons watch and wait for such opportunities in which the human is weak or weary or discouraged or in sorrow, or sick in mind or body. They find a hairline crack in the resistance and they hammer on that hairline until it cracks wide open. The methods of demons has not changed since their beginning. The many tools they use in those methods have changed, however (better technology, for instance). The goal has remained always the same as the Father of Lies: the goal is to kill, steal, and destroy. How each demon accomplishes those goals may be slightly different with the modern day tools he has available. The demons are each one subject to his specific hierarchy of demons (in other words demons are grouped together to form what some scientists and psychologists and psychiatrists term the ‘personality of the individual’). Rarely is it just ‘human personality’…..human personality can be infiltrated, influenced, controlled by nefarious spirits. The personality of any human can be influenced by, or composed of a grouping of lesser demons that are the representation of the individual, designed specifically so that the individual can present himself to others, even himself being unawares to some degree of what is oppressing him or indwelling him (in the case of an unsaved person). In other words even us Christians can be tempted by pride, deception, fear, manipulation, narcissism, lying, envy…are we clear on that? All of us need Jesus and the Fruit of His Spirit. So demons are always trying to outdo their other ‘brothers’ and elbow themselves to the forefront even fight each other for control of the human being (the Okiterion, or ‘skin covering’) that they wish to indwell or oppress. Demons fighting amongst themselves create quite a myriad of different states of mind. If you think for a moment I bet you can come up with a few diagnoses where people actually have angry conversations with what appears to be their own different personalities. Christians can be misled by demons when they are tempted , for example by pride & rebellion which are common demonic spirits that can enter into humans. Not to say that Christians can be indwelt by demons, that is not possible, b/c Jesus indwells the body of the Christian and will not share his space with any other god, entity, demon. However, Christians can certainly be oppressed and when they are weak (that is when they have not met with Jesus in prayer everyday) they can be blindsighted by the forces of the dark side. The demons are such expert psychologists having studied the human being for literally ages and even having lived inside the human bodies of those who invited them that they recognize the look of a human when he is about to fall, about to give in. The demon focuses on that and stays right there banging on that drum so to speak, working on providing as much temptation as possible. While the demon cannot indwell a saved person they can certainly do damage to their life and the lives of the persons family and friends and if some of them are not saved they could wind up being indwelt by that hardworking demon that wanted back in that family and got what he wanted and perpetuated either a past sin found predominantly in that family or a much more destructive sin. Any Christian who is oppressed by demonic activity really needs to seek Jesus diligently and truthfully and stay close in prayer. There are clergy trained for these situations and who can help. Every Christian is a target. We must stay strong in the Lord Jesus.

21:30 Deliverance is the children's bread. Have you ever had a kid refuse to eat what you fed them?
@somethinggood9267 Жыл бұрын
When Jesus is saying Deliverance is the children's bread, he was talking about the Israelites being the children of God, since that woman was not an Israelite or Hebrew. That is why she humbly answers, no Lord, but even dogs eat the crumbs from the children's table. She knew that Jesus was sent to the Jews first and that she had no right to ask him but she pleaded upon his Mercy. That verse has absolutely nothing to do with Deliverance being for Christians. We cannot be possessed with the demon if we have the holy Spirit dwelling within us, we can only be oppressed or be in spiritual warfare. Read all the verses in the Bible about how we resist the devil, there is absolutely nothing in there about Christians having demons.

Josh’s exposition of Ezekiel 18 explains why parents can break the power of generational sin and then their children end up falling into it. Each generation must choose to follow the Lord and reject the wickedness and sin patterns or curse of the ancestors. Being from a family that walks in freedom ministry- I have seen this played out and prayed about why. There is perhaps a presumption that if the parents break the power or authority of it over their children that their children will be free from it. I think there can be a level of freedom, but also, the children must choose Jesus and reject sin. It’s not like they start with a blank slate- we all have a sin nature. But, in Christ and confession and humility before the Lord the power of sin and every curse is broken. Love this clarity. It also removes the fear element- “why did the parents pray and then the kids still fall into that old family sin?” Well, the parents need to not go into “neutral” but to actively teach their children to repent and battle temptation and evil with weapons of righteousness. 🎉

Michael's "written statement" on our descendants being set apart for the blessing but have to choose it is to me "spot on". I taught our church when speaking about "Christian Households" out of Colossians that husbands and wives are the example of Christ and His bride (the church) which in that unity expresses our faith to our children and gives God glory. I then said that our children in that Christian household are the "hope" to continue that for our future generations, in that they have to choose Christ. All we can DO is plant those seeds in our kids as living examples of God's word. If they live a life apart from Christ, sin will be "master" in their lives and "curses and strongholds" will be present and sadly passed down if they choose to have kids of their own.

EPIgenetics can cause the sins of the parents to make their children more susceptible. EPIgenetics refers to the expression level of genes, or the volume level of current gene expression. If the parent is caught up in a particular sin, and that volume level is tweaked up, their children will have an increased volume level. These aren't permanent however.

As a Torah Observant Christian, I would like the add that Jesus put his spit on the blind man to prove that he was the firstborn of his father, an oral tradition recorded in the Talmud, it specifies that spit of a firstborn can heal the blind. I'm not saying there is power or authority in the Talmud; I'm saying Jesus used the oral tradition to reveal who he is. Also, regarding generational curses, I believe that curses are a simple result of choosing to reject the Father's way. The Father said I have set before you blessings and curses; therefore, choose life. I chose to be Torah observant because there is life in it. The Father is the manufacturer of my body. He knows how to make it run optimally and he gave us an owner's manual called the Torah. I don't put yucky things in my body or do unclean things because our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and I want to make his dwelling place clean and holy. If I eat swines' flesh and put toxins in my body, I am bringing a curse by my choices. I also believe in generational curses the same way it was described here, that we have generational patterns and predispositions, such as crime or alcoholism respectively, that we fall into. We break the pattern though when Jesus comes into our lives, "Cursed is the man who hangs on the tree," and as you said we must repent, which is to say, turn from sin.

The healing of the blind man in John 9 presents a possible challenge to generational curses, felt strange to talk about it here and not touch on that. Also, autism (historically confused for demonization) will make a person squeamish about eye contact, plenty of people go through life without getting diagnosed while meeting the diagnostic criteria for ASD. Working with a deliverance minister made me worse off in the long run, mostly because of how self directed this flavor of charismatic thought makes a person regarding their own santification (which is God wrestling against you to achieve, not you larping as Him against fallen angels while still in your unglorified flesh). Most of this stuff will take a mostly healthy Christian who suffers OCD and make them worse because of the contamination obsession. I now have very little to no faith, in part, because of this teaching and ones near it. Seems like superstition on the level of tithing dill and mint while leaving the cripple unattended. Maybe it's because I was hoping for a few more versus against the view to be proposed that it felt like you guys wanted to affirm it. Fake demon possession can also ruin a life, no fallen angels required, just paranoia they might be there.

I was listening to a verse by verse teaching on the Gospel of John by Michael Card, and he was talking about the mud in the eyes. He pointed out that in the Mishnah it talks about all the things one can’t do regarding leveling the ground on the sabbath. In the law there was a rule about plowing the ground on the sabbath, so in the Mishnah it has all these specific rules about things you can’t do in case you accidentally level the ground on the sabbath, which would be like plowing. Things like you can clean mud off your feet by scraping against the wall but not the ground, “lest you level crevices.” No defecating in fallow fields, “lest you come to level crevices.” There are many ridiculous rules such as this in the Mishnah, but one of those rules is if you step on spit that’s already on the ground that’s fine, but if you’re the one who spits and then you wipe your own spit, now you’ve leveled crevices on the ground and thus are guilty of plowing on the sabbath. Michael Card’s idea was that perhaps Jesus was healing the man while also showing the Pharisees that their oral law had no authority, because He broke their oral law and then still healed the man.

The key 🔑 to understanding this is that until Jesus went to the Cross and was raised from the dead, nobody was born again and filled with the Holy Spirit! When Jesus was ministering in the Gospels, he was still operating in the old covenant with people under the law who were not born again. After the Cross ✝️, the covenant changes. @@sherubawon1 I want to say first that I love many people in the sda church and it makes me very sad to have looked into this and have the lord reveal His truth. 1. They have a modern day prophetess, Ellen G White, who claims to have new revelations from God through visions. She wrote many books that the church uses just as heavily if not more than the Bible. (Which much of these were found to be plagiarized) 2. Their hermeneutics are based on interpretating the Bible in light of Ellen G White's writings. They believe that her writings were given by God to help you interpret the Bible. (In other words, the Holy Spirit wasn't doing a good enough job) 3. The church claims that the only way to be a true Christian and be saved is to be a Seventh Day Adventist. 4. Their "works" based theology is so rigid that it nullifies the cross. They also don't believe that Christ's death on the cross was the once and complete atonement for all sins for all of time. There are many more reasons but these are some of the big ones. It's very interesting to look into. I encourage you to do more research and see if you find the same problems I found, if you are interested.

Calvanism is messed up. If all are pre-seleceted then why did Christ died on the cross for our sin? John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth on him shall no perish but have ever lasting life. For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world but that the WORLD through him might be saved. 2Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Good video. I can see how vocabulary matters in this discussion. I was hoping to get answers to an issue I’m having. I didn’t find it in this discussion. There are some demonic disturbances happening in my life. I’ve repented of all my sins and taken authority in the name of Jesus but it hasn’t gone away. I started wondering about the generational “cleaving of evil” (an interesting term used in the first book of Baruch) but after watching this, I’m not sure. So what’s the answer for me if prayer and repentance isn’t working?

I would liked to have heard some biblical exegesis on the topic, like the word “visit” in context. What does it mean that God is “visiting the iniquity “?
@stephentaylor20514 жыл бұрын
I think that it could mean that unchecked sin in a family could lead to a kind of sinful legacy that would perpetuate itself down through the generations and that God would “see” that happening even unto the third and fourth generations. Sinful habits can run in families that would seem like a curse. I do not believe that God curses the people. Of course sin does attract the demonic and they can attach to families and create demonic strongholds that form this sin legacy that perpetuates itself from generation to generation if there is not a true repentance that breaks the bondage. Tell me what you think?

@LillithLeonard Жыл бұрын
Not "possessed," as in "owned," because Jesus owns the Christian. But even though Holy Spirit dwells in the spirit of the Christian, there may be unsurrendered areas of the flesh, and this is where they can inhabit the flesh because they have license to be there (sin). This is called being "demonized." Once you repent, they no longer have license, but they can remain if not evicted (like squatters). They don't want to leave because you are their house. They need a body; that's why Jesus said they return. But if you evict them and ask Holy Spirit to fill that space, they cannot return.

@chooch19954 жыл бұрын
Life isn’t supposed to be fair, friend.....unfortunately. Exodus 34:7 states: “Visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and the children’s children, to the third and fourth generation.” Think of it this way....let’s say a parent is a bad parent...they’re an addict & their life is centered around feeding their addiction instead of feeding their child....how is that fair? It isn’t. The child suffers through no fault of his/her own. The demonic realm isn’t fair. It’s not supposed to be. The earth isn’t our home, more like our proving grounds. I wish I had a better way of explaining it. Sometimes bad things happen to innocent people. It’s all about the free will of people & how it can affect others.

Mr McDonald it’s superstition, I grew up in the NAR , deliverance ministry crowd , it’s not the gospel. Demons and curses are broken when you become a born again believe, Jesus’ sacrifice is all you need to be saved and delivered, anyone saying anything else is selling a scam.... Ezekiel 18 specifically address this and God says he does not hold the sins of the Father over the children if they are righteous and judges each according to what he has done. Your right it’s not fair and God does do that.

The soul who sins will die. 5 “But if a man is righteous and practices justice and righteousness, 6 and does not eat at the mountain shrines or lift up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, or defile his neighbor’s wife or approach a woman during her menstrual period- 7 if a man does not oppress anyone, but restores to the debtor his pledge, does not commit robbery, but gives his bread to the hungry and covers the naked with clothing, 8 if he does not lend money on interest or take increase, if he keeps his hand from iniquity and executes true justice between man and man, 9 if he walks in My statutes and My ordinances so as to deal faithfully-he is righteous and will surely live,” declares the Lord God.

Hope you don't mind me saying, but the disagreements between you both made parts of this video quite confusing (though I admit I'm listening while tired 😴). The chap on the left was talking about Christians but the other chap seemed to be talking about non Christians (based on his comment about the power of the gospel setting people free to believe). So maybe they weren't disagreeing but just not making it wholly clear which groups of people they were referring to? 🤔 No offense intended.

Ex. 20:5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing steadfast love to thousands[b] of those who love me and keep my commandments. My concern is that people don't read verse 6 which is part of that sentence. We have not a few folks in our area who believe that everyone who had any relative in the Masons must need deliverance. I do believe that we are free at salvation but must work out our salvation with fear and trembling! I do think that the enemy wants to attack us in the areas where he once had success in you and maybe your family, and I know that if we resist him, the devil will flee from us. After Jesus' temptation, it says that the devil "left Him for a while". Often theology paralyzes us; often we have no idea what to believe and there are very few that even talk about the need for deliverance. Meanwhile there are so many in bondage with some believing freedom is only a matter of their will and others blaming everything on past curses or other people.(It's so nice to think that my struggles are someone else's fault!) In the 70's and 80's deliverance seemed to become a cottage industry and it was a very tricky ordeal that only few could accomplish. Today it seems we miss "cast out demons" in the Great commission. We appear to be very intellectual, and deliverance isn't. I'm really at a point where I just want to see people free of the demonic harassment no matter how folks do it! In the revival we are all praying for we can now see a tip of the iceberg with repentance and some deliverance. Praying for a BIG reformation in His Church.

I don't believe in generational curses..If there is generational sin it is not because the sins of the fathers were passed down it's because of learned behavior as the sons watched the fathers & CHOSE to partake in those same sins..(Ezekiel 18:20).. Each individual will answer to God for his own sin..

I partially agree, but it’s the parent’s duty to teach their children. If they fail, then their children may sin without realizing what they have done. I think this is how generational sin or curses are manifested. The power of the gospel is then to expose the sin and bring people to repentance.
