With what resources? Contrary to popular belief, a huthi rebellion going to an island in the middle of the Pacific to build an army isn’t going to come back with a naval fleet rivaling that of the United States. I think it is genuinely stupid that this is a plot device in Star Wars. A single senator won’t be able to amass the allies and resources to make that retreat genuinelly manageable (billions of lifeforms want to commit to their lives in galactic isolation), feasible (there are navigable and livable planets and resources there and infrastructure for super fleets) and succesful (an actual army will come out).

They didn’t. It was pretty well established that they never actually ended the cloning program, they just did what every government agency does given enough time; they went with the lowest bidder. By the time of the original trilogy cloned troops were still fielded, but a minority. They were notoriously inferior to actual enlisted, and still not very cost effective, so were only used to fluff out numbers when enlistment didn’t hit its marks. Later, during the First Order, some commanders were realizing the value of having soldiers indoctrinated from birth and had began to reinvest, but it was still a minority overall, and they no longer had the Fett line as an option.

@@GenerationTech I don’t really agree with that because while it was the Republic that turned into the Empire, it was also because the Separatist Military kept being relentless and merciless. Remember what happened to the Banking Clan? Palpatine had Dooku break his word to Clovis so it looks like the IGBC is corrupt and a Separatist pawn. Next thing you know, the Republic nationalizes the banks to protect its money. Now, this technically isn’t the fault of the other side of the CIS because it was the military doing all of this. Except the government is supposed to control the military, something we see the Republic do for better and worse. Meanwhile, Dooku and the Separatist Council keep defying the politicians and keep doing horrible things and even control the Shadowfeed. Again, Scipio. The leader of the Separatist Parliament gets killed because he disagreed with Dooku was doing. I mean to me, it sometimes looks like the Separatists were the true predecessor to the Galactic Empire instead of the Republic. Both had militaries that answered to the executive leader instead of a parliament or congress, both were filled nearly to the brim with officers who were corrupt and had no qualms with war crimes, and both had armies full of soldiers who don’t question atrocious orders. I keep thinking a lot of non-Jedi and non-Clone officers in the Republic Military looked at the Separatist Military, secretly admired them, and replicated the things they did in the Empire. Anyways, the Separatist in the conversation in the first comment has no right to really say that because not only did their side push the Republic into becoming the Empire, but it’s very leader was part of the freaking conspiracy. Despite real political concerns, the CIS was basically a puppet to force the Republic to transform into something far worse than its corrupt self could ever be. If anything, the Republic person should be saying “Are you happy? The Republic’s finally gone and the Senate is no longer a tool for corruption. Even the corporations that once plagued you (And also made up your military) are gone. Instead, you now have to contend with a totalitarian empire with a military that has no qualms and new corporations to exploit you. I may have voted in the Empire to protect me, but you presented the threat to me.”

@tristankawatsuma89628 ай бұрын
@@CedarHunt Now hold on. I’m pro-Republic, the Clone Troopers are my favorite characters, and the Separatists lose the high ground almost right away. Still, let’s be fair here. One: It’s highly likely most Separatist civilians including the politicians didn’t know what Dooku, the Separatist Council, and the military were doing on the frontlines. The Separatists controlled the Shadowfeed Network and filled it with lies and propaganda. The Republic nationalized the Holonet and even if they didn’t lie, Separatists naturally wouldn’t believe the claims of CIS atrocities because the Holonet had become state media. Of course they would trust their own media and not one owned by the enemy in a war. My proof for this is how Dooku got a Humanitarian Award shortly after ordering the massacre of a planet. Of course the Separatists can’t know the truth, otherwise they would never give Dooku that. Let’s also not forget how Dooku framed the Republic for killing Mina Bonteri. Two: There truly was corruption in the Republic. The Separatist Military was full of corporations that mostly got away with whatever they wanted because they were rich and powerful. Look at how the Senate acts when the Trade Federation blockaded Naboo and Pantora. Now, in fairness to you commenter, the Separatists do fail as trying to be better than the Republic. There is my first point in how the Shadowfeed acted just like the Holonet under the Empire, but the people put too much faith in Dooku. I wouldn’t be shocked if they got around to the idea of the Separatist Council controlling the military because they ironically thought Dooku would rein them in. The Galactic Republic needed a war to turn into an authoritarian dictatorship, the Separatist Alliance became one in peacetime, even before Dooku made those deals with the corporations on Geonosis. There are plenty of fans that wonder if the CIS could have been a purer faction without the Sith and Corporations, but it’s thanks to both of them that the Separatists exist anyways. Without the CIS, the planets that formed it would either have seceded separately from each other or would continue to try and reform the Republic.

It is clear that the Bad Batch is setting up more than Palpatine’s ressurection in The Rise of Skywalker. It also is setting up the beginning of the Rebellion. The show is weaving all the Skywalker Saga Era storylines together. Hints of the Rebellion are outlined elsewhere, this episode clearly shows how deep the Rebellion goes. It is much more than just Bail Organa and Mon Mothma - or even Saw Guerera. Other leaders existed. Perhaps before the series is done, we will see ties to Andor. And we may even get a tie-in to Kenobi. Where Asajj Ventress goes, so too Quinlan Voss, who was referenced in Kenobi. So you can see all the connections coming together.

The summary of the situation between these two worlds was well done… But unfortunately, you got a few things on the lore side wrong. 1. Pantora is not in the outer rim. It’s in wild space outside of what was officially designated the outer rim. for all intents and purposes they were space New Zealand (that is a very prominent country that people keep forgetting to put on maps). While there were a few ways to access it for all intents and purposes it was in the middle of nowhere. this became even worse under the Empire, because of the fact that they established a “hard border” with the entirety of wild space and the unknown regions. 2. The raxus address was made on raxus prime, not raxus secundus, dooku had a personal fortress there (for some reason) and delivered the address from it before moving the capital to raxus secundus. (This should have told people the movement was a farce, but the backed it anyway) 3. Nobody did trust the megacorporations, but due to corruption and a bias toward the core worlds (among other things) the republic basically ignored everything beyond the expansion region the mega corps were the only thing out there that represented civilization, so they had no choice but to rely on them for everything (something they exploited all too often). Pantora has inherrent resistance to the dutch disease, but that comes with the qualifier that it is vunerable to neo-africa syndrome despite (or perhaps because of) being colonialist themselves. Also contrary to popular understanding (both in-universe and out) the talz are not native to orto plutonia, they are native to the nearby world Alzoc III. Their colony on orto plutonia however is ancient (it is believed to have been made by rocket powered sleeper ship. So they still deserve the planet.

And the Separatists Alliance can served as a background or even a basis for it.

Being that our world, and solar system are so highly resource-rich, and has huge swathes of agriculturally rich land, that we have the capability to build and maintain a lot of built infrastructure and then some. It’s just weird to hear about whole planets (which are very sparsely populated) being reliant on imports of food, and other essentials, the way we hear about in Star Wars canon. Clearly stuff like exotic materials and fuels for their spaceships would not be found on every planet or solar system, but food…
@kenle28 ай бұрын
Various planets have issues that make food production difficult or impossible. Cityscape planets like Coruscant or othet Core Worlds don't have arable land with access to sunlight and thngs like fertilizer. Hydroponics are undoubtedly used, but they are very chemical and power intensive when you are trying to feed trillions of people. Huge container ships which can be operated for a few hundred credits per ton (based on Han's smuggling rates in ANH) are usually going to be more economical once you have the planetary transportation networks set up and automated. Other worlds may have contaminated atmospheres or temperature swings that make growing conditions too harsh for large scale agriculture, but they still have mineral wealth or advantageous locations. Colonized worlds might actually be biologically incompatible with the colonizing species, so the settlers might not be physically CAPABLE of using the planets agricultural resources.

Everyone "has to be the guy who" we think is dead or still alive somehow. Barriss Offee is most likely dead. She was imprisoned when Order 66 happened and Darth Vader was killing all other Force Wielders. Putting Tech in that uniform and brainwashing him (if he survived) is putting the whole Star Wars galaxy in a box and kicking it around a room full of writers who think they're as clever as some fans. It also rips the heart out of Tech's sacrifice. He was willing to die for his brothers and his sister. It was such an easy trope, I predicted they would turn one of Clone Force 99's own against them and push to the breaking point, but they'd be turned back to the light with love. I thought it would be Crosshair, but it'll be Tech if he survived that fall. It's obvious now. "You had a chance to be one of us, brother." Between Phee and Omega, Tech doesn't stand a chance to stay evil and be the one who kills them all. He'll either be the key to finding Weyland, the one who sacrifices himself first, the man inside who starts the rebellion (or pulls all of the forces that are willing together) within Tantiss, or all of the above.

The rough part is that they weren't enemies. Opposing sides of a conflict that should have been solved diplomatically but was intentionally escalated. The Separatist planets had much better points than a CERTAIN secessionist movement, and just wanted to govern themselves without being stripped of resources. But the people of those planets weren't actually enemies of republic planets, the conflict itself was for the greatest part just 2 manufactured expendable armies killing each other rather than citizens putting their lives against other citizens. And the representatives of those planets really didn't have much animosity for the other side's representatives, just a lack of understanding why they couldn't see eye to eye.

You have the likes of Avi Singh and Tawni Ames, who were merely looking out for the interests of their people and saw the Republic didn't really have said interests at heart...but you also have the sleazy Neimoidans from the Trade Federation, cutting deals with objectively evil trafficking cells (like the Trandoshan one Delta squad fought, the one whose insignia looks like 3 crossed scimitars forming an X), helping them enslave Wookiees and selling said factions battle droids, weapons and ammunition, sending Grievous to their bases to interrogate Wookiee captives and serve as a representative, or the greedy Gossams' Commerce Guild, doing debt collection crackdowns on civilians and sending them their nasty Dwarf and Advanced Dwarf Spider Droids. So to say the Seps were "the good guys" in this conflict would be a simplified explanation, especially since both sides were de facto controlled by Sheev Palpatine, and featured many sub-factions, some of which had more noble goals than others.

A curfew? Wrong? Unjust occupation? Mate this isnt 1919 germany. The confederacy didnt surrender because the homefront collapsed. It surrendered because its leadership was decapitated and its armies were dissolved. You didnt just hand over what you had to your enemies, you were beaten. Granted the clone wars werent exactly a fair game but (a) there is no way you could know and (b) you took part in it.

That's kind of the point. Without the droid armies Raxus was essentially helpless. All the Empire had to do was put a few ships in orbit and demand that taxation resume. Just a pointed reminder that orbital turbolasers could ruin their day if they got out of line would be efficient. There isnt any indication that they werent basically cooperating with the Empire. Why do you need tanks and troops on the street if you aren't going to start squeezing the populace?

Also I the wild rim and wild space the confederacy or empire could get away with more. No one cared until empire came along. It is ironic….
