I’m pretty sure at Coruscant, the initial battle took so long that Republic reinforcements arrived and blocked off hyperspace routes to trap the CIS fleet. Also, could you do a list on Clone Wars battles that actually hurt Dooku and Palpatine? After all, not everything could have gone right for them in this war.

I know Palpatine lost the political battle to be able to invade Mandalore, but even that was more of a delaying action than anything in the long run as he eventually got invited in right before the very end of the war...the importance of annexing Mandalore was underrated in his grand plan since the Mandalorians were the only people to reliably fight force users and win, so having them under his thumb was defiantly on his to-do list. The political battles were really the main arena he was in any way stimied due to the people and institutions in place seeking to protect the republic from what he was trying to do...sadly not even those who stood against him realized they were in a war against his machinations or they might have fought even harder against what he was trying to do (Organa and others obviously were growing wise that Palpatine was making moves to consolidate power but again it was too late by the time they even started to figure it out).

After the 1st battle of geonosis a squadron of Republic Commandos took over the CIS control center and when they found the number (that you stated) of battle droids like the true number the commandos were very confused as to why they didn't just send everything they had and wipe out the republic. Ofc we all know why.

I imagine Dooku didn't think it was time to dispose of Palpatine yet, probably because he realized there were still parts of the bigger picture that had not been shared with him, and he had yet to figure them out. Didn't want to kill Sidious only to have some irritating fail-safe show up out of nowhere.

I mean I think at the beginning of the war the CIS were so far ahead it wasn’t that difficult to just throw away entire armies. Plus because of the authoritarian nature of his government and the use of droid troops no one really cared that much about heavy losses except maybe the corporate leaders funding the whole thing

The fact that dooku kept the war effort presentable enough that none of the greedy corporate backers who were bankrolling the CIS so they could fight the central government till it sues for peace and has no choice but to allow them to stop paying their taxes absolutely makes him a thrawn teir strategist. They were purely motivated by greed and nothing else. It's funny how it never occurred to any of the CIS corporate businessman who mostly cared about protecting their wealth but also had basic common sense militarily speaking "hey wait a minute. Dooku is either a fucking idiot or a traitor to our glorius financial succe- **COUGH** I mean struggle for succession and liberty. Why are we wasting our hard earned money we totally didn't earn off the backs of slavers, drug cartels and crook lawyers on this guy!? If I were in charge and just did x y and z, the war would be won by the end of the week."

I'm pretty sure Dooku was drunk at Scipio, because he thought just leaving was a good idea, in all the other battles he threw he at least made it look like he was trying. I'm surprised so few questioned this: they attack and like a minute later Dooku's space forces retreat without taking too many losses, with how important the banks are most would assume Dooku's forces wouldn't give up so easily, and wonder what was up at that battle. I mean Dooku could have at least sacrificed a Captial Ship or two before retreating to at least make the battle look good.

That Imperial Vice Admiral Rampart was able to functionally destroy Tapioca city (or whatever it’s called …close enough) via arial bombardment with the meager turbolaser batteries found on a Venator Class Star Destroyer at the beginning of the New Order is proof that the Caminoan’s physical infrastructure wasn’t that robust.

I would have liked more of an explanation for the Onderonian Civil War. Deciding a fight is too costly is a legitimate position. The other battles I think you made a clear case Dooku should have won but didnt because there was a plan. I dont feel you explained how the Onderonian Civil War would have been a Sepi victory but Dooku pulled out for any sort of plan or if there was any strategic point to it at all

Actually, in Legends, Tipoca had huge shields to protect from orbital bombardments. The only way to take them out was to land troops and blow it inside out (except you'd be torn apart by AA guns) or to send an entire shuttle crashing to the surface, as demonstrated by Starkiller's clone.

I know that palpatine has to create the empire for the original trilogy to happen. But if I were in his position I would just use the geonosian droid garrison to stage a galactic coup. Why fight a galactic war and slowly impose authoritarian policies over the span of several years when you can simply steamroll the government and its near non-existent armed forces. Any other sith lord would have used the droid army to invade the galaxy while the republic is in decline instead of wasting their time with background shenanigans.

Because it wasn’t that simple, there were still neutral systems to deal with as well as systems that couldn’t really be invaded. I use to think that as well that the separatists could’ve just won thru power alone, but Palpatines plan was the best way to force people to willingly accept a galactic empire. Think about it, the larger majority of the galaxy was use to the republic’s democratic leadership. While he did take the more complicated way to gaining that absolute power, in the grand scheme of things it actually made the transition from democracy to empire less complicated. It at least allowed him to legitimized his actions enough til the empire grew strong enough to actually force its will on the galaxy.

Why Would Dooku even become the leader of for separatists if his whole plan was fo lose? What was Dooku's endgame for the whole war because several time he could have won or stuck s peace treaty and made the worst military decision!

The Separatists were so dominant that they had to take special steps to not win the entire war in an afternoon, so they could have forced a military win at any time. My guess is Dooku had pretty much the same overall plan as Palpatine: wait for the right moment when both sides were nearly out of reserves, spring a trap to remove the enemy's head of government, and reunite the galaxy under their own leadership. Only problem was, Palpatine launched his betrayal first.

Yes, but that palpatine guy was playing both sides for 3 episodes, then episodes 4 to 6 he was the super bad guy: darth sidious. However, in summary he was the super bad guy for 6 episodes, but was the undercover spy mole for episodes one to three. star wars is all very confusing, and is better left that way.

3 to 1 ratio for beating a defender asumes equivalent units on either side. We are told over and over that 1 clone is worth far more than 1 droid. So the logic doesn't quite hold.

Was it an accident that Obi wan went to Geonosis? I thought Dooku intended him to wind up there so that when the jedi came to save him they could pass it off as the Republic preemptively attacking a separatist world (with Anakin and Padme also committing espionage and murdering several Geonosians). I suppose that may have just been how Dooku spun the story, but I thought it was intentional
