A giant mobile homeworld isn't a bad idea, but it shouldn't be a military ship. Exposing it to the front line was CLEARLY a mistake, and as the hopeful capital of a government wide empire it should be used for governance and economics, not shooting things. Imagine if a bunch of important diplomats had been on the ship when it was damaged. Heck, we don't know how many vital government officials were killed by the hyperspace ramming.

6: Thins out the weakness in their ranks, shows _General Hux._ 7: Creates a mobile base that is the core of their whole movement, had it lead the chase against the enemy fleet when they have extremely powerful (and possibly faster) Star Destroyers that are more than up to the task. Should have had smaller fast ships like corvettes and frigates harass the fleeing fleet as well. What if the Resistance had mines? They needlessly risk the one ship they can't risk losing. [could be considered 6b, cause 6a caused that] 8. Still keep most of their multitude of Tie fighters docked during the battle to destroy the R̶e̶b̶e̶l̶s̶ Resistance, instead only sending out a three man fighter group lead by your action Sith in his custom machine. 9. Still haven't learnt the concept of keeping an eye out for the _Millennium Falcon_ in case it swoops in, or even having a picket ship waiting to nail it when it's swoops back out afterwards. 10. All your ground troops are camouflaged only for operations on Ice worlds and art deco installations. *Couple of Old timers sitting around see First Order troops:* Hey those guys look just like Imperial Stormtroopers, man I killed a lot of those back in the day. [pegs a few shots at the First Order troops, who fall over] Yup…die just the same.

Besides the fact that stormtroopers were highly elite shock troops that killed thousands of rebel soldiers in the beginning of the rebellion, had advanced armor and sensirs, as well as one of the most reliable blasters in history. Then, the first order, who are trained in guerrilla tactics and are very flexible in combat, as well as being lighter, faster, and stronger. Tantive IV, anyone? First battle in all of Star Wars? Only a few stormtrooper casualties versus dozens of trained and well-funded diplomatic escort veterans?

False, Empire was worse: about 20 or even more rebel fighters attacked death star, and they sent a total of 6 fighters; Hell, they were even worse in everything, their troopers lost to ewoks by getting hit by sticks. They lost a SSD due to broken A-wing. They lost DS2 due to bad planning. They SOMEHOW lost the entire battle of endor while having all that, a surprise trap on their side plus tens of star destroyers. In meanwhyle an animatronic called "Vader" fought flyboy God Luke a couple of times to win, but yet to lose by him running away on a dumb way. Palpatines original plan was much simpler. Just have the Endor battle group keep fighting and destroy the Rebel fleet there. And once confirmed that the Imperial ground forces have been slaughtered or captured do a orbital bombardment of the whole region. At the least you'll kill any Imperial prisoners, saving them from being I̶m̶p̶r̶e̶g̶n̶a̶t̶e̶d̶ ̶b̶y̶ ̶X̶e̶n̶o̶m̶o̶r̶p̶h̶s̶ eaten by killer Teddy bears. The core Imperial worlds are still completely under control, along with the Imperial fleet. They dominate a major part of the Galaxy including its economic might and nearly all of the developed regions. Retreat, consolidating and focusing your forces if necessary. But just do a Base Delta Zero of any prominent rebel planets with a large battle group from among your _over twenty three thousand ISD's_ currently left over. Starting with any that are important to infrastructure and logistics such as the Mon Calamari 🍤. A Taskforce led by a few hundred ISD's should take care of them, which is a much better use of inventory than blowing your own ships up, even from just a revenge standpoint. TL:DR Imperial headquarters in Corescant, the head of the bureaucracy hears that Palpatine and Vader are dead and opens the sealed envelope containing his will. In it he says Thrawn is now in charge and the Royal guard answer to him. He has the full authority of the Emperor. And here is a list of planets to get payback on. *Fleet officer:* [looking at the list] Tatooine? Why Tatooine? It's of no significant value, to either us or the Rebellion. *Imperial official:* [reading over his shoulder] What's that handwritten notation next to it … _sand!_ …What?

I think the biggest flaw with the first order is it's lack of creativity. It seems like (if you don't want to get meta with it and just chalk it up to poor writing) they are just repeating the ideas and mistakes of the Empire. The raising Stormtroopers from birth and indoctrinating them since adolescence is a good idea though. It would be interesting to know how rare or common defecting is, Finn being a good example. I assume it's rare, considering Finn would have never had a chance of escape if the stars didn't align with Poe being there to help him.

Biggest Flaw is Writing, yes. The First Order Stormtroopers are essentially clones... who aren't related to one another. Finn defected because he was captured by the First Order as a young boy. Which also contradicts the Lore of the First Order... JJ and his writing staff weren't as smart as they think they are placing contradictions in his own work. :/

First Order officers like Commander Pyre, and FOSB-Agents are trained to recognize even the slightest form of malfunction in the conditioning of their Troops, and send them regulary to reconditioning. So yes it happens sometimes but mostly it is in the line of duty, and not so advanced in their stage of "malfunctioning" like Finn.

I think Starkiller was meant to counter the Planetary Defense Fleet threat by being a weapon of such power that said fleets (or the civilian governments they answer to) would back down without a fight. The Supremacy functions in a similar capacity. Having lost both of those assets early on means that the FO will need to fight a lot more battles to gain control. If the entire galaxy fights back, they lose, which is why they went for their shock-and-awe strategy. For once, the Tarkin Doctrine actually makes sense in this context.

Many KZbinrs describe how something in a fantasy universe can work from a lore perspective. That's all very exciting and I like watching videos about it, but as a sociology and philosophy student dealing with society and institutions, I have to say that this often has little to do with reality. In your video, you made empirical references to the real world and looked at how Star Wars society could work if it really existed. I have not seen anything like that before and I have to say that I really liked it. I do not know what the other fans are like, but I want to see more of it.

Branching off from point 3, another drawback I possibly see is that any remains of a defeated defence force could simply leave and help another. If it repeats enough then you will have a group resembling the rebellion/resistance but the size and professionalism of an army with (possibly) a proper navy as well

How does UNSC vehicles like the Scorpion tank and Warthog compare to modern vehicles like the M1A2 Abrams and Oshkosh JLTV?

I think the Scorpion has quite more weak spots than the abrams, mainly due to the exposed machine gunner (which means there's no way to protect the tank from infantry if the gunner gets shot to pieces), and that huge window leading directly to the drivers face. In addition to that, the Abrams is quite fast, especially in comparison to the Scorpion. However, I'm fairly sure the Scorpion has better armor and a better gun due to it being from the future. Basically, if you want to avoid dying from a stray bullet, being overrun by infantry, or not being fast, the abrams is for you. In all other cases the scorpion is most likely the better option.

If we heard Palpatine laugh in the Rise of Skywalker trailer, I can only guess the first order was only there to cause instability like the civil unrest in the Star Wars prequels that Palpatine started. The first order devastated the galaxy, civil unrest erupts, then Palpatine swoops in to restore order with tonnes of empty promises using the force's ability to influence the weak minded -- especially taking out certain leaders of organizations and putting his people in power. But also like a tonne of plans, something went wrong that wrecks the plan like the first order taking into conquest rather than causing instability. Think Pizzagate, or the rise and fall of Stephen Harper up here in Canada. Or even the rise of the UCP in Alberta -- but they're run by a bunch of baffoons.

according to the crawl at the beginning of TLJ, they did control the galaxy already. The resistance is down to a few dozen refugees on a single cargo ship at the end of TLJ, so game over.

as much as I would agree given the lack of First-order victories shown on screen (Kylo caused more damage to first order equipment than foes did, lol), that is not what the opening crawl at the beginning of TLJ said. "The first order reigns", the opening line at that, they are mopping up at this point, the war is already won and at least a few worlds have capitulated to the first order by the opening of TLJ (I don't think it would be worded as it is otherwise). Episode VIII THE LEST JEDI The first order reigns. Having decimated the peaceful Republic, Supreme Leader Snoke now deploys his merciless legions to seize military control of the galaxy. Only General Leia Organa's band of RESISTANCE fighters stand against the rising tyranny, certain that Jedi Master Luke Skywalker will return and restore a spark of hope to the fight. But the Resistance has been exposed. As the First Order speeds toward the rebel base, the brave heroes mount a desperate escape.... note, that reads "speeds toward 'The' rebel base", 'base' instead of 'bases', and "the rebel base" as in singular, there is only one of them the rebels are at. Implying that all the rebel ships shown at the opening scene of the movie, is all there is of the rebels/resistance. I'm with you that there should be more resisting the First Order at this point, however, that is not what the crawl sais.

Gamer King, it would be interesting to find out, if the Chiss Ascendancy in the unknown regions is also independent, or part of the first order by TLJ. by def, 'the galaxy' would imply all of it, and it isn't clear how much the republic was. Only General Leia Organa's band of RESISTANCE fighters stand against the rising tyranny would seem to indicate, that they are the only ones resisting the first order by the opening of TLJ. so that would also imply the rest have either been conquered by, or allied with the first order. so yeah, 'F' for respects, GG, Game over. at least the Dunkirk evacuation went a tad better, more people got out.

@Tron How do you defend against a hyperspeed ship heading to your ship? Also Hux was in command of the officer in the dreadnot canady so canady was not stupid it was hux. Hux destroyed the republic with starkiller base also his new troops the Fo troops are better than the imperial ones in both space and ground combat. All I have to say is Hux has the reasorces and troops to destroy the resistance but dosent know how to as he is inexperienced that goes to all First Order officers. As much as i love Hux( no im not gay) he has made many mistakes that cost him alot of huge ships ans lossesand the first order will fall with all the inexperienced officers.

If the First Order had any competence, they wouldn't've made a third Death Star, they would've just made a massive Tie-Bomber production facility and overwhelmed the new Republic worlds with tons and tons of bombs. If all they had was millions of tiny ships with hyperdrives, the resistance could do nothing to stop them.

Since its FO, I'm assuming, also, since help was requested across the Galaxy. It involves some sorta climatic battle. Cuz most Star Wars movies gotta Star Wars. BUT the FO is remarkably small when you think of it. A good sized and powerful fleet, since their mega paper football from hell was destroyed a movie or 2 ago, should be able to destroy or catch vast majority of them all if it came to it. No way least some of that HUGE powerful armada at the Jakku battle was, or could all be at the destroy Hosian system or decommissioned AND totally dismantled entirely. We're talking a Rebellion fleet big enough an powerful enough to take on pretty ALL the remaining Imperial Star Destroyers backed by, we know for sure SEVERAL Super SDs which I think if remembering right is how the Republic came to possess some of those. So even a relatively SMALL number of those should be a huge or considerable threat even outright out gun whats basically an Imperial Remanent with basically no super weapons left really since Admiral SJW kamikazed it.

I mean, maybe there is extendet material on it, I just don´t know about it and so far I think you are just fanfictioning all this stuff. some of it seem to be outrigt contradicting to what was established in the mive. like you say that many planets would feature a planetary defence fource, yet the first Paragraph of the intro tex say "the first Order rules supreme" I am tempted to belive all of this is just wishful thinking and fanfiction.

From what I know of disney cannon they leave most of the world-building to their books and other secondary material. If they are pulling from there then they probably have the best source of information, because who the hell could tell what's going on in the galaxy by watching the movies up to this point. That said, I wouldn't count on episode 9 to keep their story straight.

I would say, the future of the new trilogy is uncertain. with practically everything fucked up and the last jedi completely fucking the lore, it is uncertain how JJ will salvage any of it.
