I have a similar set up. But I feel hot air coming from around the exhaust. Is that normal or is my setup not air tight

As long as you don't smell any exhaust fumes you should be fine. Mine let's off hot air out the back as well, the fan that built into the generator electric side moves air from its internal fan to keep it from ovr heating odds are that what you are feeling. If there is no odor of exhaust you should be good.

@@AaronsAutomotive yeah no odor. And when I put my combustible fumes meter it doesn't detect anything. When I put my meter at end of pipe it whales. My carbon monoxide detected doesn't pick anything up. It just worries me cause I felt hot air about 3 inches left and right of the pipe. It does feel like a warm air fan type wind

Dangerous and usually illegal way to connect a generator. Does the proper connection cost more? Yes. Is it worth your life and the health and safety of the hydro workers working hard to restore your electricity? Hell yes.

Among the other redneck, bushcraft, jerry rigged mayhem we could talk about... Why didnt you go out the side of the shed for the exhaust? Would have been alot more weather resistant than the homemade water fall you created by going through the roof.. Just sayin, Just sayin...
