When all is said and done, we have the original recordings. We can endlessly debate the pros and cons of this final set of live shows. Ultimately, it was up to the band themselves whether or not to proceed, given Phil's debilitated state. I'm sure they are all well aware that this was perhaps not their finest hour musically or vocally, but it doesn't matter. It was brave and motivated by the very best of intentions. So now, Genesis, take a bow and let the curtain fall one last time. Thanks for so much amazing music.

Best of intentions: £174 a ticket! Sorry. I loved Phil and the band but this is ... well I don't understand what the hell it is except trying to make a last pot of money. Did Phil's wife take him to the cleaners this time?

@@markwelsh9068 Guess you should have gone to their free concert in Rome 2007 with 500,000 of their closest friends. (I was just thinking about the cost of the tickets....it seems extreme, but I bet Genesis makes nothing on these tours. It only covers production expenses and paying the roadies, etc. These guys all have enough money, they just want to have one last go at it) I too will not be attending, except by video.

Unfortunately, some of us MAY not get to grow old, and will wish we could have. Phil has lived an incredible life. He has been able to see his children become adults. He has touched the hearts of many. He has helped to create some of the most beautiful music of all time. And he seems to have done it all with a good, kind heart. I saw the concert in Manchester last night, Sat 25 Sep. I purposefully did not go with the intention of making comparisons from the last time I saw the band way, way back, sometime in the last century. That would have been wrong. I went so that I could immerse myself in a couple of hours or so of nostalgia, to hear some of the finest music ever written and performed by some equally fine musicians. Yes, there were some imperfections, yes, I was watching a band who had now grown old and were not what they once were but you know what, I enjoyed every single moment of the show and do not for one moment regret going. Thankyou fellas, for all the joy that you have given over the years, you were, and will always be, The Masters.
@BladeRock19963 жыл бұрын

OMG! These tickets are $300-$400 for upper level seats at a local arena here in the States. Floor tickets run up to $2,100. That's before fees! You must really love Genesis to pay these prices. I am a big Floyd fan and had the chance to see a David Gilmour show a few years back in Germany that had fairly similar pricing. I didn't even consider it. I saw these bands in their prime and paid maybe $7.00 to $15:00 at the most. I know about adjusting for inflation and that these are now limited opportunities, but I will just keep my money and memories.

Why? All it means is you miss the gig, and when you die there are some extra dollars in your bank balance.

@@iananderson3799 Not the biggest Genesis fan and saw Floyd twice. And Gilmour was playing a lot of his solo stuff. My concert going days, like Phil's are numbered. I went to a lot of shows free in the 80's and 90's, and often went backstage in my younger days because of my job.

Tony Banks had an issue with stuck or sustained notes from the beginning of Lamb, I hear (the issue didn't begin to become apparent until the first chord change, of course). He muted the pad sound at 6.30 and all was fine from that point, albeit the pad had to be absent from the rest of this song.

I was in Manchester on Friday night. I was totally and completely unaware of anything negative. They played for over 2 hours. We all sang along, danced and cheered. Worth every penny of MY money..not yours. People who are critical should remember that they have sold more recordings than you could accurately count.

Thank you. During Phil’s last solo tour, I noticed that nobody who attended was complaining, only people who saw it on KZbin. Quite obviously, there are energies and dimensions which cannot be fully captured by digital recorders. It could never be like the 1980’s, but Charlotte will be _my_ first Genesis show. I will cherish all of the dancing, singing, cheering, and communion. I will be in the presence of interesting men who changed my life for the better, and I will say thank you and farewell. I think that’s worth something…

Highly doubtful this is how the fans care to remember them, regardless of how thin the live music scene has become because of the COVID-madness

This is very similar to the way The Light Lies Down on Broadway is executed on TLLDOB album.

Well, it WAS Genesis before Phil. But yes, I think they're getting it right - one last tour, and then shut it down. What a wonderful ride it's been for so long though.
