I bought the solar water fountain too and it quite literally sprinkles the water right out of the container. You need a very wide container to retain enough water. Also, if it does lose water and continues to run, the motor will burn up within 15 minutes. You have to keep an eye on this one.

@@patricianepa2474 Just want to add I use 2 White plastic bowls I bought at Dollar Tree. You could probably use any bowl or pot and spray paint the inside white. I was worried paint might be toxic to my birds that enjoy the fountain so I bought white bowls, they are thin plastic so I use two together. They are almost 12 inches wide and fit perfectly in my pot. I never run out of water. Normally every morning when I clean out the bowl it’s about an inch lower than the morning before. I use the bubbler that shoots the water about 4 to 6 inches high. It’s always breezy here so most of the other patterns blow out and empties the bowl. The white keeps the water cool so it hardly evaporates. Trust me it is hot here in Southern Nevada and the white bowl makes the difference. Sorry my post is so long. Lol

I've had several of those solar fountains. If you use those nozzles, the water shoots up and oversprays the container in no time. When you lose the water, the solar mechanism will burn out and break. You can use these fountains but WITHOUT the nozzle that makes it spray high. Without it, it will just create a soft bubbling which I prefer anyway (unless you have it in a huge pond!)

I use the bubbler setting that spouts about 8 inches high. I live in the Vegas area and so far I only add water once a day and it’s never been less than half empty. The white bowl keeps the water cooler so it doesn’t evaporate very much. My fountain came with clear spacers that keep it centered and if the water runs out it automatically turns off.
