Thank you for your video. I use my generator for the sole purpose of providing power in emergency situations. We just went 5 days without power and my 7 year old champion started up every time with the press of a button. It ran flawlessly and was a real help providing power for my portable air conditioner in 95 degree heat. Bottom line, reliability is the name of the game. Also that machine looks tricky to work on and in an emergency, who has time to wait for China to help trouble shoot and then wait for parts. Based on your videos this is not the type of machine that I would trust in an emergency situation.

Genmax Replaced that generator for a new one and so far I have no problems with the new one almost 2 year later.

Thanks for the upload. Good info. Quick tip: Use non-ethanol gas only. My small engines start first pull when using non-ethanol gas. Pump gas has always caused carb problems for me.

I will try. Right now I might need to call and test the warranty because I am having some issues starting the generator. China support via email is very helpful and responsive but USA 🇺🇸 support partners are not so much so far.

Thank you for your video. I want to replace my old PowerStroke 6000 generator with an inverter and I was hesitating between going for the Genmax GM9000IED or the Duromax XP9000IH. I saw your previous videos where you advised to go for the Genmax vs Duromax and Predator but after seeing this video I think I will go for the Duromax. You should not start having issues with such a recent generator. My PowerStroke is 10 years old and is still running like a champ,

That is odd because the new USA support has been responsive. Email Lisa to [e-mail] she always responds.

I believe the metal plate was positioned in such a way that the air going into the carburetor was cut off or blocked in someway. You had spark and fuel, but didn’t have air or oxygen going into the carburetor. Have you ever had a backfire when shutting the generator off before? That may have blown the air filter cover off and dislodged that metal plate. I have the same generator, but run on propane gas and when I shut it off, it backfires almost every time I shut the generator off.

My GM9000iED was misfiring 4 - 5 secs after shutting it off. I run mine on propane gas. After contacting Genmax and sending them a video of the issue, they noticed that in the video, I wasn't turning the fuel transfer switch, from propane to the middle position, right after turning it off. Problem solved. Actually it is on the instructions manual (page 22) as one of the steps to follow when shutting the generator down.

Hi. I always turn the switch to the middle neutral position and let it burn 🔥 the gas in the carburetor until ran out of gas. I am not carburetor expert but I think the carburetor it. Was receiving too much air.

Javier, I just got my GM9000IED and I am surprised at how stiff the gasoline / LP Gas selector is. It looks like it moves quite easily in your video. Some of it may just be my expectation, because I had the impression that it was an electrical switch and when I first went to move it, I realized that it is a mechanical valve. It still seems stiff though. Is your switch stiff to move or was it before and now it has loosened up?

Hello. 3 things. 1- yes it was stiff 2- I think it has loosened up 3- or I just got used to it and I applied the right amount of force unconscious now that I have done it multiple times.

@@JavierRivera Thank you for the reply! I guess I just need to hit the gym a little harder so that, a.) I can move this big beast around and b.) so that I can move that fuel valve. 😅 Also, it seems like you have a better manual than I do. I think you’ve referenced things in your manual that I don’t think I have in my manual…like the 5hr break in period. I’m doing it, but I can’t find it in my manual. Do you have a link to some secret manual? Thanks again!

Yes. The manual that comes with the generator is missing stuff. You will need to go to Genmax website and download the PDF user manual

gasket causing a vacuum leak

Could be. I m still trying to figure out what is causing the problem. The thing is that after is hot do not give the signs or problems. I am recording a couple videos to send them to Genmax. Something simple that I want to try is to change the gas for newer gas and see. The gas on the tank is only 1 month old and it was mixed with stabilizer since I bought it.
