I love all of my Eton shirts although they are pricey. My Eton shirts are still nice after washing which most shirt degrade immediately after washing. The long cotton thread and cotton used in Eton shirts can attribute to their longevity. Made to measure shirts at lower price doesn’t necessary mean they are better quality. The feel, quality, look, and longevity of the Eton shirt check all the blocks for a nice quality shirt. The entry price could deter your purchase but once purchased I believe most will be happy and will be return customers.

Excellent review, I certainly agree with everything you said here. The one thing Eton does well is make a low maintenance shirt, which is built to last using good fabrics. Some of my Jermyn Street level shirts come out of the wash quite wrinkled, and need a lot of touch up with an iron so they're crisp again. I don't really need to touch up the Eton shirts too much, if any. They run about $250-$300 here in Canada at Harry Rosen and my local upscale menswear store, although they go about double that online at Saks for some reason. I see them here with a good mix of mid-spread and cutaway collars with a good selection of colours and patterns, including many varieties of white shirts with different button and cuff trimming options. Despite this, I'm a little baffled by some of their plain-fronted fly front shirts they market at evening shirts, but they do offer a collar attached Marcella evening shirt for white tie, which I suppose isn't quite correct. Regarding the collar stiffeners, if you have experience sewing, it's sometimes possible to alter a shirt so it can take removable ones. Their sizing works really well with my body, and the long arms are a blessing for a lanky guy like me. If you want a good non-iron shirt, Eton is certainly worth it, but I'm convinced you can get much better value elsewhere. There's several places in my city you can get MTM or bespoke shirts with comparable fabrics for around $190-$225 CAD, and request the shirts be made to take removable collar stiffeners. I like Eton, but you can find better shirts for cheaper imo.

Hey Sven, I've just bought my first suit (went with a light grey), and was wondering if you had any advice on how to balance patterned shirts and ties? Is it a good idea to have both a patterned tie and shirt? or should only one of them be patterned? or does it just depend on the style/prominence of the patterns? Do you (or anyone) have any advice for a mens formal wear newbie?
@blakemcnamara91053 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, patterned shirts should not be worn with ties and actually should be kept as a shirt to wear with a sport coat or just by itself. With a light grey suit, your best bet is with white shirts or very soft pastel colours.

i have around a dozen Eton shirts. Bought them on Ebay from Luthuania, Poand, Rumania even Russta. Love them. Never paid more than 28 euros for them. They're all flawless. They also have 8 buttons that close, which means you can tuck the shirt in really well (Most shirts have 799) which is a real plus with these lower waisted modern trousers. The European sellers state all the measurements on their webs, but the UK shops on EBAY are too lazy. I'm sick of having to ask them the"pit to pit" size etc, Apart from that, UK POSTAGE to Spain is horrendously expensive.

I've had a few Eton Slim that have lasted 9 years now and still look great. Very little wear showing. I can't believe how well they have held up actually as i wear them a lot. If i get a contemporary fit i need to dart it or take it in. I usually by Hugo Boss this as they're slightly cheaper and fit a tall skinny guy just as well as the Eton slim, however the Eton is a better made shirt than any Boss one. I generally prefer the patterns Boss makes though. Years ago I wanted to get into Thomas Pink so so bad but they just never fit right no matter the cut. Im glad I found Eton instead. I do wonder why they never allow a removable collar stay - that one is beyond me. Makes NO sense at all.
@Theo-ul8qm2 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure, but I think their thinking is that it’s more convenient. You just take the shirt off and throw it in the wash instead of having to remember to remove the collar stays beforehand. Having said that, I have a few Eton shirts myself and the only one that does take removable collar stays is a denim shirt. Now that I really don’t understand.
