The drumming is fantastic: so subtle and original. Jansen is one of my favorite drummers. Also, the sounds Barbieri creates on each Japan track are so delicate and smooth... love it.
Good work takes me back to the 1981 GTP tour, I was lucky enough to have been at the Hammersmith Odeon .

I've been listening to GTP regularly for over 40 years, it never gets old. Thanks for showing us what it takes to drum it. SJ is not only a brilliant drummer but he always looks so effortlessly cool and controlled as he plays these ever-changing patterns.

Really tight and on point. 👏👏👏I play along with my fretless to this and really appreciate the importance of Jansens style to the Japan sound.

Karn and Jansen were an incredible rhythm section. So many songs I would just focus on hearing their sound... like a spiritual journey. Sons of Pioneers, for starters

Awesome, and thank you. I'm originally from Korea, and got mesmerized by Visions of China when I was in middle school. I think I've bought all of their regular albums in CD. Still enjoy their music after 40 years.

I'd like to think if Mick was still here that Japan would reunite for a tour. Listening to Japan brings back great memories.

It's what Jansen doesn't play that makes him a brilliant drummer.

This is phenomenal. I was wondering if you would consider having a crack at Bauhaus' "Sanity Assassin." It sounds like a very difficult song to play on the drums. He's doing like quad. (or eighths) time on the hihat shuffle on that song.
@tim.p.j.schofield2 жыл бұрын
The Bauhaus track sounds like 16 notes on the Hats, playing the on beats a little heavier than the off beats, and a four to the floor on the bass drum and snare. Start slow and work up to 162bpm. Their is the odd off beat snare fill at the start. Sometimes the drum parts were recorded separately, hats, snare etc. plus some 80s gated reverb.

If there is one piece of feedback I’d give is that the hand clap effect is too loud. Otherwise I think you nailed this one too. Fantastic.

This is fantastic! Do you have a Drums Only version of this?
@tim.p.j.schofield Жыл бұрын
I may put the drums only version up at some point.

What hand clap are you using on the SPDSX?
@tim.p.j.schofield Жыл бұрын
The clap is a Roland 808 with a Life in Toyko snare sample mixed in on the SPD sub channel plus some reverb.
