Not much of a choice. A truck that can make money now, with any driver or spend money on a truck you can't trust anyone with. Trade it for the simple fact it is more practical. Keep up the good work.

I think that you should make the trade to put more units in operation and making strides towards your business goals. You can always get yourself another stellar truck at a later time once the dust settles. Some times you need to make a small sacrifice in order to get what needs to be done today to better set you up for a better future.

If that ISX isn’t going to annoy you, with all things considered having spent money on a new Detroit motor, and the fire; I’d be looking at recouping losses with a practical, workhorse truck that can make some money. You can always spice up Rooster, and still plenty of time to build a show truck. That double frame would be a useful asset.

Tim, do the ol' football coach technique. Get a big white board & sit it in front of you entire crew. Draw a line down the middle & at the top left write Reasons to Trade. At the top right write Reasons Not To Trade. Get ALL the reasons until there is no more for either side, then just sit back and stare at the board. Your decision is sitting in front of you!!

Trade, Trade, Trade. If you can put a driver in it next week then by all means do that. It’s much better then having your current truck sit in the parking lot making you no money (even though we all love the truck and would love to see what you would do with it) it’s the best decision at the moment. Then in a few months make up for it and do a bigger and better build! Keep it up my friend🤘🏼

I think the trade is a good idea since it’s a Canada spec truck it’s a short double framed truck so no matter what it goes under wether it be a reefer unit rgn or boats it suits the job. Personal opinion it’s a better truck for the fleet since you don’t have to worry about the length, fenders, or visor. Also as you said you can put a driver in it so it will make money for the company faster than sherbert since that would be a truck that you or your dad would drive

Tim, I think the smart choice would be to go for the swap, the shorter wheelbase compared to some of the other trucks out there, plus it being ready for the road versus Sherbert needing work before it hits the road. The cabovers are the king of short wheelbase, but to have a shorter conventional truck available would be a versatile choice.

@@quackquack6116 they are a good engine when they’re running. They pull great and the engine brakes are top notch. This guy is wanting to swap him a truck that’s well over a decade old but only has 3??,000 miles on it? That’s a major red flag to me. I’m guessing it’s either spent a hell of a lot of time in the shop or the Speedo has been changed and the ecm will say otherwise. Of course the ecm could’ve been replaced also but that’ll be obvious once it’s plugged up to a computer. I’m sure Tim has already made up his mind so no matter what anyone says, he’s gonna trade. @@Joe_Hunt_Musicyeah trading for that truck is an awful idea, it already has a rebuilt 60 series that he knows is top notch. That driver seems like a owner operator who will be with that bling truck all the time. He can take care of it and keep an eye on it as he is with it 24 hours a day. A bling truck cannot be in fleet and not worry about it. The longer tail rake also is an issue in tighter areas. The trade truck is shorter and good shape that trailer gouge is not an issue, put a Gentry sticker over it. Trade for it now!

It doesn't matter what people say you are going to do what you want to do ! You change your tune every time the wind blows ! Everytime you buy a truck its your dream truck then a couple video's later you are selling it or stripping it for parts ! At the beginning it was all about cabovers, now you have what 2 on the road !

Right? He had that w900 and was always bragging about how much he loved it and it was such a good truck. A truck that could have been earning money on the road and he traded it for another cab over that probably doesn’t get used.

He’s about to get his ass burned in a bad way. A 13 year old truck with under 400k miles? That’s a huge red flag

@@Mclint9171 to be fair, I've passed that International cabover that he traded the W9 for a few times. Most recent saw it 2/7/23 hauling boats heading south on 395 in WA

Business wise, the trade makes sense. My only hangups on the 388 are 1, its an emission engine, unless its deleted. 2, if its not deleted, its just getting to the mileage where its gonna start costing money with emission breakdowns. I deal with this stuff everyday. Im bouncing between a 09 t800 with a cat with emissions, breaksdown every year, ard head goes bad. A 15 4900 western star with a dd15 detroit with emissions, only 270k, no major problems yet. A 13 vnl with a d13, breaks down every 10 days like clockwork with 500k. And a 21 4900 western star with an x15 in it. Runs great, no major problems yet, only 117k. Doesnt run too often because its too dam long to fit into most of our jobsites. Setback front axle and still a 270 wb. We also have a '17 prostar with an x15, 500k and it has a mystery check engine light for an emission code not even the dealer can figure out. Dpf's been replace twice at about 7k each time, and the code always comes back. Anymore, the newer trucks seem to just be a roll of the dice.

Shebert is nice and a cool truck for sure, but right now, another truck on the road making money is what is needed most. I know Sherbert is cool to look at in the yard and drive occasionally, but you'll be happier in the long run with a new shop and you can get there quicker with another truck on the road. There is also definitely potential to dress this 388 up a bit and give it some character as time goes on.

I don’t think it’s a bad trade. I mean your getting a solid work truck ready to go to make profit. Isn’t that what you need at the moment? The orange needs customization and changes. Like removing the headache rack and all. Although it’s not a bad truck either, and it also could be used for heavy haul. So a good work truck that also saves on fuel or a older truck that you like better aesthetically. Ultimately it’s up to you. But the profit that truck would make could be used and put into other trucks like Rooster, since you have another 379 just waiting to go. Btw is that ISX a EGR variant? Those engines are usually used on newer heavy haul trucks since that truck is double framed. Plus from what I’ve seen, isx engines are like Honda civics. Parts are cheaper and much easier to get your hands on.
