For a “Dealership” install that’s that worst I’ve seen. Absolutely no information on wiring , power source etc. Ornamental lighting laws vary from state to state don’t get yourself an unnecessary ticket

When I purchased my 2015 E 350 4matic a few weeks ago, I worked the illuminated led star in the deal. They had my car for several days thinking they had the wrong harness to hook it up but they discovered the had the correct one. I believe they haven't installed too many of these lights... My question is... My light does not illuminate very bright (you can barley tell that it is on). It there a way that I can adjust the illumination of the lights from behind the star? I installed one myself on my C180 and it's not that bright either. The problem is that the actual LED lights are tiny, you can see them being the star in the middle section. Perhaps you could buy another version with bigger lights or try turning up the voltage, but they're never going to be that bright.

There must be a work around now. I just purchased a 2020 GLC with the front sensors without the illuminated star but the salesman said it could be added. When the star finally came in the installer at first said it wasn’t possible. I complained hard because I told them when I purchased the vehicle my last car had one and I needed my new to also have one, otherwise I’d buy the C Class already loaded. Anyway, long story short Mercedes does have an official work around.

It can be done in 20-30 minutes. He skipped over steps on purpose. You need a fuse tap. Looks like he is grounding it at the bottom which is more work and not necessary. What's unknown is if he has to drill out a hole for the red wire and rubber seal or Mercedes from newer cars on has this built in. Either way, I bet they charge two hours for this which is absurd.

I think it’s really crappy it’s only offered on the low class Mercedes vehicles. I find it absurd not to be offered on the flagship of the 2 door roadsters such as the r231 SL series. Mercedes Benz you should be ashamed to withhold this from your customers who can afford to buy the best cars you offer. Not the subpar models that put Mercedes within reach of everyone.
