Thank you for mentioning good old fashioned paper copies! I love my devices as much as the next person, but depend on paper copies of everything. Also I agree with going directly to your gate to make sure nothing has changed.

I have learned to travel carry on luggage only! Saves time and headaches! It is good to know the carry on bag size and weight restrictions, especially for European airlines.

Love your videos and I share them often... Retired airline fares person here...direct flight is not the same as a non-stop flight. Non-stop is point A to point B, direct is point A, with stop in point B and carries on to point C, all on same plane. That is a direct flight. Even airline people use this term incorrectly. 😅😊🤔

Thank you!! It's been so long since I've been on a "direct flight" (or the greyhound bus version of flying, lol) that I've gotten into the bad habit of using direct and nonstop interchangeably 😊

I once took a photo of my parking lot sign so I could find my car when I came back. But, lo and behold, my phone died on the trip and I couldn’t find my car! Fortunately, although I usually have a terrible memory, my brain did go into overdrive and I found it without assistance. But I was quite worried.

I love my direct morning flight out of Raleigh to Seattle once a year. It almost never gets cancelled and I have wiggle room in Seattle if issues arise trying to get home to Alaska. Personally hate larger airports and consider them a necessary "evil" of flying. It always seems like come in and leave from the farthest apart gates possible, and nothing ever happens to that 2 or 3 hour conbection window you gave yourself.😆 🤣

@@GenxGypsy1968 I was moved here as a child abd grew up on the island of Kodiak then came to Fairbanks for college. Never left. Two of my children live in lower 48 (Raliegh and Houston), so I have to travel. My other 2 children are about less then 5 miles away. My son lived overseas for 13 years, so we traveled the world a bit with him. Daughter-in-law was transferred back finally, so world travel has definitely slowed down.

Well, I thought I'd let you know that all of my anxiety came to naught. Flight to England was delayed several hours, so I didn't need to rush. Did have to wait a while for my taxi, though. My trip is already half over. Time moves too fast!

Well, I've returned home from London. The one major problem that occurred was I missed my final leg of my flight home due to a gate miss up, so I had to get a hotel and take the early flight home today. A note to all travelers is to double check your gate number when you arrive there and not take the word of the staff.

I have a travel tip!! I fly every other month and have been for 8 years now… WHEN BUYING A SUITCASE, bring a suitcase scale and weigh the suitcases that you’re looking at buying. This weight adds to your checked bag weight so buy the lightest one that you like. I did that because the suitcase I had seemed like I couldn’t pack as much in to make it too heavy. After realizing that the suitcase alone weighed a lot.

I no longer use a travel insurance clearing house to purchase insurance. I do use them to compare policies but then go directly to the insurance company’s website. I save a significant amount that way (hundreds of dollars, in some cases). Also, read the policy limits CAREFULLY! A policy I had when I got Covid in Scotland paid less than half of my outlay, and I was extremely frugal in my expenses.

I love your natural hair color & want to know❓❓❓❓ what do you use to curl your hair❓❓❓
@GenxGypsy1968 Жыл бұрын
Thank you!! But honestly, the only part that is really natural right now is probably the top 4-5 inches. I'm right at a year of growing out the gray. My hairstylist did an amazing job of blending! I have two different size curling irons that use for different days depending on how I feel. One is a 2 inch barrel and the other is 1 inch barrel wrap type iron. They are both hot tools, meaning they go up to 450 and I use them at the highest setting. I do let my hair completely dry before I do any heat application (usually wash at night and let it dry overnight) and its crazy poofy before I curl. I don't use any other products except occasionally a little light wax to tame the fly aways near the part and sometimes a little Moroccan oil on the dry ends, but very lightly. Whew, that was a a long explanation, but hope that helps 😊. PS It's also helpful that I can go 4-5 days between washing so I'm not having to do the curling a whole lot throughout the week.

When I travel I always keep slips of paper in my wallet that have my hotel name, address and phone number as well as paper with my emergency contact info (the person I’m travelling with AND someone at home) just in case. It especially helped having the address in Hong Kong because I had it written in English and Cantonese characters so if I got lost I could just show a taxi driver or a police officer to help me get back. I’ve only used it once but it can be a lifesaver

I hope to go on my first cruise and first flight in 2024. Have you ever cruised? What advice can you offer? I want to go carry-on only, but I dont know if I can.
@GenxGypsy1968 Жыл бұрын
Aww, thank you!! I have only been on one cruise, from Seattle to Alaska, it was wonderful! It was about 6 years ago so I'm trying to remember how much we packed. It really depends on how long your cruise is going to be and where you are going. For warmer weather you can probably mange carry on only. You won't need to bring a ton of toiletries as a lot is provided for you. I can tell you that I still struggle on almost all my trips to do carry on only! I can do it, but I really like choices, LOL!
@karenwilkerson6628 Жыл бұрын

Book your shuttle ahead of time? Every hotel shuttle Inhave used in the last couple years will not do that, they all say to call them after i land and pick up any chhecked baggage. Unfortunately.
@GenxGypsy1968 Жыл бұрын
I've had a few situations where the hotel needed to be notified if you wanted the shuttle available when you arrive because of a shortage of employees, or the hour the plane was landing. Best to just confirm the option is going to be available when you arrive than to get there and have to figure something else out, especially if you've been traveling for several hours by that time. 😊
