Song was written back in 48 if i recall right but been pretty much covered by all country artists including Johnny Cash. And there is also a version of it in the sequel of Blues Brothers done in 2000. Personally till today loved the cover by Marshal Tucker.. but this here....

This is a classic country western song performed by many western singers including Johnny Cash. I am in my 70s and I remember hearing it done by Roy Rogers and the Sons of the Pioneers back when television was in black-and-white. The ghost cowboys are warning him that if he doesn’t change his ways he’s also going to join them in Hell and riding to capture the devils herd. The lighting and background were done by his fellow VoicePlay member Eli.

I remember Burl Ives' version when I was just a kid in the 60's, also Johnny Cash. But I think Marty Robbins was the one I liked best back then. Now, it's Geoff's version!

The album we had back in 1962 was a Marty Robbins one and that was one I grew up with. Geoff did a remarkable job with this. His visuals sure make this song. Thanks for reacting to it!

Stan Jones, Burl Ives and Vaughn Monroe all did versions around the same time. Vaughn Monroe's version is probably the most popular of the originals. It was the number 1 song of the year in 1949.

Great cover...Vaughn Monroe may be the best known version,also sung by Burl Ives,Bing Crosby played on the guitar by Roy Clark, Johnny Cash and there's a comedy renditions by Spike Jones. Written by Stan Jones (6/11/1914-12/5/1963) also recorded the song.

Geoff's range is fantastic. He's a natural baritone working really hard to achieve a low bass range and has also worked hard to get the higher range within the 5 octaves.. His wife is always by his side to help him achieve this and the others he's done. (in the Uk we often say that behind every successful man is an even more successful woman) 😉

Johnny Cash, was the original artist who sang it. But, in time many others sang it. Also, fun fact the only reason Johnny sang it is because it was based off a Marvel Comics character of the same name, that and the fact that each issue had a different generational Rider for each time period.

We are right across from each other battleship style 😅. It's mainly because this is our best setup to accommodate Jess right now. She only has two months to go until baby Ally is due. Standing for the reactions was getting to her. This isn't the final setup or anything. If it was up to us we would have like two comfy chairs next to each other with a little coffee table between us. Something like that. We'll get there. Hope this setup isn't too much of a bother for the time being. 💚
