When I lived in pattaya I would go bang saray just to detox and relax for a few weeks ... really calm relaxing atmosphere and the food and people are great .. all the best Geoff

You didn't! It's 13Km past the floating market, it is fairly well signposted. Just by the by, if you do head out that way, about 6km past the floating market you'll find Ban Ampur beach, which is a lovely beach, it has chairs and food and drink. Virtually deserted in the daytime, come school finishing time all the younf Thais flock there, evening time, many locals flock there. It's a bit harder to find unless you know where to turn off Sukhumvit, but Google maps does a very good job of it.

Yes and no. Basically the Thais will let you rent a bike with just your passport. Now, to drive/ride you must have an IDL or a Thai license, however your IDL has to have that class of vehicle included on it that you are licensed to drive in your home country. So if you are not licensed to drive that vehicle in your country, then you are not licensed to drive/ride it in Thailand. I would say that most tourists who ride motorbikes in Thailand do so unlicensed. If you wear a helmet the chances of you getting caught are minimal, however if you have an accident, then expect any insurance to be null and void.

The wife's aunt lives in Bang Saray & it's nice to go & relax. Her aunt got me onto the navel camp. They have aircraft & military vehicles on display all over the camp They have lots of turtles they breed them.The boat looks like the one at khoa lak. But that's number 813.

Far from sleepy anymore, 7/11s everywhere and many more superstores. Almost every other building is a falang owned bar or restaurant, mass construction with sea saran developments have caused untold destruction to Bang Saray. Go there at 5pm...traffic jams. Dont want to sound negative but what was once "paradise" is now nothing more than a mini Pattaya with all the rubbish that goes with it, fights, visa overstayers, crooks and thieves and property scams. My advice is drive a further 30kms south to experience what Bang Saray was like 15 years ago
