I am currently in the U.S. Navy and while we get our fair share of immigrants who serve in the military of which I've worked with: Africans, Mexicans, Brazilians, Chinese, etc by far the largest non-native ethnic group that serve are the Filipinos. They are so notorious we even call them "the Filipino mafia" like they take good care of each other in the service. Some of these people are very good friends of mine. They're hard working shipmates, very good at what they do, and are always a blast to be around. Much love to my Filipino comrades.

As a Mexican, I felt a connection with The Philippines the very first moment I listened to Tagalog (because of its Spanish words), after that moment I started to learn a bit about filipinos and their culture, it is really interesting to know they're our distant asian family, it's as if you found a parallel version of your country in another continent. Pagbati sa lahat ng Pilipino!

I'm not sure if this is correct, because I'm not a linguist; but as a speaker of both Filipino and Spanish (Castellano), I have noticed that Filipino sounds more similar to Spanish (Mexican) than Castellano. It has something to do with the stress on certain consonants and vowels, that are otherwise not that emphasized in Castellano. Back during Colonial times, we used to have a lot of Mexicans here, including guardia civil. We were never taught Spanish, by our overlords, so I assume either our accents evolved independently, or were influenced by Mexicans (Filipino has a lot of Spanish words).
@spoiledbro4754 Жыл бұрын

As a Filipino, I agree. I also feel a connection with Mexico, the Philippines is like the asian cousin of Mexico, im trying to learn more about Mexico, and im just very interested of a country that was also colonized by Spain for 300 years.
@mayumii891917 ай бұрын
As a filipino, I had never really felt a connection, I don't use the Spanish loan words that much, I prefer using deep tagalog words. Tagalog doesn't really sound spanish in my opinion, if you don't use the borrowed spanish words. I do not really understand some Filipinos and Mexicans considering themselves as distant cousins, the concept of it makes me uncomfortable for some reason. I only really relate with fellow asians. Also this comment is not meant to inflict hate.

Indonesian here! To be honest I don't really know about Philippines until I saw this video. There are so many things in common between Indonesia and Philippines. Basically, Indonesia and Philippines are like the forgotten cousins. We, Indonesian (especially the Sundanese, Javanese, and some other tribes), also do this kind of thing 13:47 to our elders and parents. I personally always do that to my parents and grandparents everytime I go out (to school, college, or playing with my friends). It shows the sign of respect to the elders. Here, in West Java, we called it "Salim". When I was child, the elders or my parents always said : "Udah salim belom?" ("Have you "salim" yet?") "Jangan lupa salim dulu ya" ("Don't forget to do the "salim", okay?") "Ehh ayo sini salim dulu" ("Hey, come here and do the "salim" (to us)") Etc. And the traditional dishes, man I can say that the South East Asian Countries absolutely love coconut, pandan, and rice. Because the traditional dishes look kinda same but I with different recipe and name (this is my opinion though). Well, it's fun to know about other culture especieally from South East Asian countries. Greetings from Indonesia 🇲🇨

Just some fan facts: According to a theory, our ancestors descended from 3 main ethnic groups migrating to the islands. The second wave (composed of 2 groups) are Indonesians. (Although I don't believe and the fact the theory is officially debunked in present day. And which Indonesians?) Indonesia supported our claim to Sabah while claiming Sarawak. One of the most popular noontime shows here in the Phils, Eat Bulaga, has a local variant in Indonesia. Anyway, terima kasih and Mabuhay!

Sorry to exclude Japan as one of the best friends of Philippines. South Korea is close to the Philippines, but not as very close as Japan.
@thescarlethunter21605 жыл бұрын
GreenMordo for me the Philippines classified japan as a friend
@greenmordo91465 жыл бұрын
@@thescarlethunter2160 I don't think Japan would be classified as a 'friend' only, but more than just a 'friend'. If you look at the historical and economic dichotomy of the two, they share a lot of interests and the relationship between them drastically changing after WWII. From Garcia to Duterte, their relationship remained stronger. Not to mention that Duterte despite shifting economic alliance to China and Russia, the way they saw Japan didn't change. I saw a lot in the news here in Mindanao that Japan helped us a lot, the Yolanda funds and Marawi siege gave us foreign aid (but US sent more than Japan), and Japan also helped us even more than South Korea helped us. In fact, we helped South Korea more than South Korea helped us (but I didn't say South Korea didn't helped at all) during the Korean War and until today. All I say is that: "Japan deserves more to be on the 'best friend' status, because of economic, security and political friendship bonding with each other." I think the reason why the Filipinos told to GN that South Korea is one of the Philippines' best friends (although SoKor can be our 'best friend'), is BECAUSE OF K-POP and KOREABOOS flocking the entire country. (I wouldn't say fanboying/fangirling K-Pop is bad, but too much is too much.). The media in the Philippines highlights more on Japan helping the Philippines and Philippines helping Japan.

The video is generally about the Philippines which is a great content for people who are curious in us. He didn’t just address our culture, but they included our beautiful landscapes, demographics, geography, nation friends and the issues or problems in our country. The camera was put in one place thus the angle is in front of them that makes the video stabilize. The background is also in a plain black, but they have the lighting to expose themselves and look professional. Also, their positions are crucial in many ways, but they did a good job positioning themselves in the center to stand out. I can say that the overall quality is 9/10 since some names and words are mispronounced but I can’t blame them. However, the content that they give insights about the Philippines was not sugarcoating. We can also say that they are excellent vloggers, using professional equipment, editing their videos with graphics and knowing how to stand out and get the audience’s attention.
