@@weathforjr the problem with history is, who really knows what happened, who got the research right? Who can you trust? The only people which know what really happened, are the people in power/made the decisions at that time. Because I am sure they didn't tell the truth back then just as much as they do now. Just look whats happening in the us with republicans and democrats. If it would be for the republicans the democrats are all monsters and the democrats think the opposite way. If you would have this setting a few hundreds years back you would probably get a civil war with the winner writing the history books, and making themselves look pretty. A lot of people don't realize that Britain did the same thing with India and Pakistan - they withdrew and left a mess that still hasn't been resolved. The difference is that the India/Pakistan problem is Hindu vs Muslim (among other issues) and in Israel/Palestine, it's Jewish vs Muslim, and in the Holy Land, so the Israel/Palestine conflict gets a lot more attention.

4:50 - Israel did not withdraw from Sinai due to pressure of the Oil Embargo. It was the Egyptian President Anwar Al-Sadat who decided to announce a peace initiative and visited Israel. The following negotiations under the hospices of US President Jimmy Carter led to a peace agreement between Egypt and Israel. As a result Israel withdrew from Sinai and returned it to Egypt which paved the way to normalization and diplomatic ties between the two countries. This was the first peace agreement in the Israeli-Arab conflict and has since been in effect until this day. The peace makers, Mr. Anwar Al-Sadat and the Israeli P.M. Menachem Begin received in 1978 the Nobel Peace Prize.

Yes, failure to mention the Egyptian peace treaty with Israel is one of the major oversights here, along with Egypt placing the Sinai as a buffer, destroying homes south of Gaza so they wouldn't be used to smuggle arms, and essentially closing and militarizing the border in order to enforce the peace treaty with Israel.

The biggest issues I see, in no particular order, are 1) The PLO is only mentioned in 1988; while its previous history and terrorist activities (which had a HUGE impact on the conflict's development) are not. 2) They also do not explicitly state that Hamas explicitly calls for the genocide of Jews-which would have only taken up an additional 3 seconds. 3) They do not state that on several occasions, Jewish militants killed or expelled Arabs from their homes, that this was the main reason so many Arabs fled in 1948, and those responsible were by and large not punished by the Israeli government afterward I think all of the above three things could be added without extending the video length by over a minute. These next three would also be really nice but would probably require the video to be more like ~12-13 minutes long. 4) They don't discuss how the ideology of Pan-Arabism, and especially Nasserism, shaped the conflict and Israel's diplomatic relations. 5) Debates over 'The Right of Return', especially with regards to the conception of Israel as a 'Jewish State' are never mentioned 6) The current situation of Palestinians living in The West Bank isn't explored in any depth, nor is the Palestinian refugee crisis & worldwide diaspora. 7) Changes in Israeli demographics and politics in the 21st century, in particular, the rapid growth of the Haredi population and increased popularity of right-wing and far-right politics in Israel

There is too much information that this video is lacking. Barley any talk about the Jew's or Palastinian's relation to the Land of Canaan; A horrible misstatement that made the Holocaust look like a part of WW2 and not as planned enslavement, torture, and genocide; Wrong dates; No mention of other peace efforts such as the Peel Commission, the London plan, Olmert's proposal (97% of what the Palestinians claim would be given, and they refused), and many more efforts; A sided claim that Israel "bomb houses" just because, not to mention the war between the PLO and Hama's, resulting in the terror organization winning, which led to Israel constantly being bombed by Hamas, which also led to the blockade by Israel AND EGYPT (no mention of Egypt) - no mention of Hamas hiding in civilian houses, kindergartens, hospitals and more, and firing rockets from there; And so much more, that I couldn't cover here, neither in a stupid attempt to cover one of the most complex situations in the world, in several minutes.

The US support for Israel was actually quite limited until the 1970s, when the Soviets started pouring money and weapons to their Arab allies in Middle East, leading the Americans to provide more weapons to Israel. The US was neutral during the Six Day War. Only after the Yom Kippur War with the Camp David Accords did the US start to develop a close relationship with Israel.

Some details that are not correct: - The Six Days War (1967), Israel did not just declare war. The Egyptians blocked the Straits of Tiran, one of Israel's main trading routes, which is an act of war. Then, Israel responded and the war started. - Israel did not give Sinai back to Egypt due to international pressure. It was a part of the Israel-Egypt peace treaty which lasted for over 40 years now. It was a fair deal that brought peace from the south-western border. - Israel has decided, in 2005, to withdraw from the Gaza Strip. The Palestinians there chose Hamas, which is today a recognized terrorist organization by the US, EU and UN. Hamas' intentions are different from the PLA's (Fatah), and that is a huge barrier for peace. - "Israel imposes a blockage in the region (Gaza) while Hamas regularly fires rockets", that's the other way around. Hamas used their waterways and border crossing with Egypt to smuggle rockets and weapons, which were then targeted toward Israeli towns. Then Israel started blockading the border. In this blockade, any supply is welcome as long as it goes through Israeli ports first and being scanned and searched for illegal weapons. Then transported into Gaza via an Israeli border crossing. Israel is still the largest supplier of medicine, water, electricity and food to the Gaza strip.

Ariel Weinberger, Israel was defeated in 1973 and barlef defense line was destroyed and we win in depletive war so Israel was weakened and we blocked the straits of Tiran to prevent any sort of help to come to Israel and the Arabian countries refused to give petrol to america to supply Israel, and we have cut connections with america since they deceived us that Israel won't attack us and we are fools to listen to them that lead us to our defeat in six days war! Plus Israel won because she attacked our military airports so we got no air cover! You cannot say you win us by toe to toe, you win us by cheating! And surprise attack! I cannot say we lost but we lost honorably not winning with cheating! In 1973 we have deceived america and Europe and said "we won't attack Israel" while building our military in secret! And the European fools have been deceived so the Americans, they came to help Israel after we defeated it in 1973, we restored half of Sinai and the other half after the 1979 peace treaty which called camp David treaty, which is located in america unfortunately! That's the truth, the others are lies, if you don't believe then watch a video about moche dayan and he admitted that Israel failed in that war and Egypt won with the help of god then the Arabian countries! While we defeated Israel, america and UK. Listen to the real truth I swear!

Miss. Dark Under eyes I would like to hear why you call zionists terrorists. For now I will say why Hamas is inherintly a terror organization: A terror organization is an organization which its purpose is to kill civilians. Hamas, more than once, said that it wants to kill all Israelis. And as it seems, it acts to do so. Blindly shooting missiles into Israel in order to kill civilians. In 2014 alone they shot approximately 10,000 missiles. And that's wothout talking about what they do the Palestinians.

Great maps 👍 love the detail, I'll add from wiki 3:50 In April 1967, Syria shot at an Israeli tractor ploughing in the demilitarized zone -which Syria considered an ongoing practice of Israeli encroachment on contested land. The event occasioned an escalation into a prewar aerial clash. In May 1967, following misinformation about Israeli intentions provided by the Soviet Union, Egypt expelled UN peacekeepers who had been stationed in the Sinai Peninsula since the Suez conflict,[1] and announced a blockade of Israel's access to the Red Sea (international waters) via the Straits of Tiran, which Israel considered an act of war. Tension escalated, with both sides' armies mobilising. Less than a month later, Israel launched a surprise strike which began the Six-Day War.

In conclusion, Israel won’t “give Sinai back to Egypt, as an exchange for peace”. It was the defeat at first then the negotiations. Tito -> That's the usual Arab nonsense that they like to use for the 1973 war. The Israelis crossed the Suez canal and surrounded the entire Egyptian southern army. With no protection from the SAM missile batteries the entire southern Egyptian army was exposed to the Israeli air force and completely surrounded. The Egyptian southern army would be wiped out. Sadat asked to stop the war as a result. At the end of the war Israel still had the Sinai. Sadat seeing that he could not get the Sinai back through military means made a historic trip to Israel that eventually led to a peace deal in 1979. Look it up.

Extending by 10-15% would allow making it more reliable and balanced, as (for example) ignoring peace treaties between Israel and Egypt & Jordan leaves a big hole in the story, making a strong impression that the author took side in the conflict. I would also add at least one sentence about the aspirations of each side in respect to the resolution of the conflict, to demonstrate the complexity. But this is a developing issue, which probably deserves another, third chapter…

Peace treaties between 3rd party countries and israel will not justify any of the illegal acts that israel has done to Palestine. The UN proposal in 1947 was unjust by giving most of the land to only the 10% of the Jewish population (before the Nakba and Palestinians got kicked out or killed), the same reason why the British Proposal was unjust. israel has received huge amounts of weapons from the West which is why surrounding Arab countries were pressured into peace agreements but in reality they still have no love for israel since their existence is illegal but currently forced.

Jews are the Hebrew people. The Hebrews were the descendants of Abraham through his son, Isaac, and then his grandson Jacob. Jacob was renamed by God to Israel, and his 12 sons became the 12 tribes of Israel. Lots of drama occurred over centuries and after King Solomon, his son, Rehoboam became the king and he was terrible. 10 tribes in the north rebelled, took on their own king, Jeroboam, and became known as Israel. The two tribes in the south, Benjamin and Judah became known as Judea, which is where Jerusalem is. The Jews are called that as a derivative of the place, "Judea". The tribes in the north became known as Samaritans, because their capitol was Samaria and eventually their land called Samaria. After the Assyrians and Babylonians conquered that region, 700 - 500ish B.C. the 10 tribes became assimilated into those cultures. Judea also suffered conquering and oppression from the Babylonians, then the Persians (less so), then the Greeks. In the Bible, there is a parable Jesus tells of the Good Samaritan. The Jews and the Samaritans were not friends because of their very fractured history, which was the point of the story that the Samaritan stopped to help his enemy. He also meets with a Samaritan woman at a well and talks to her, which was outrageous as he was not only a man but also a Jew, and she was known to be a promiscuous woman. Also, the Hebrew people have been in that region since around 2200 B.C. Islam wasn't founded until the early 600s A.D., about 2,800 years later. The issues in that region are as much religious (if not more so) than political. Abraham had a wife, Sarah who seemingly couldn't bear children, so she gave Abraham her maid so he could have an heir. Ishmael was the son born to Abraham and Hagar. Later in her very old age, Sarah became pregnant with Isaac, who became his legitimate son, and Sarah had Hagar and Ishmael leave. Isaac is the direct lineage to Abraham for both Jews and later Christians. Muslims trace their lineage back to Abraham through Ishmael. This is a very OLD conflict and did not start with Zionism in the early 20th century.

@jessicagaulden2819 well, I researched some and to put it in less complicated terms... Hebrews were desert, nomadic people who, after becoming followers of Yaweh, invaded Canaan (allegedly per Yaweh's mandate), took over more territory and trandformed the region in Israel. Later was divided Israel (north) and Judea (south), and from there the Jews originated. Much later the region was conquered, renamed, and restructured by Rome; at some point becoming Palestine. This isn't well understood by most. Yes, it's an "old conflict", but Israel was no more since before Christ, and Jewism became a religious designation, not a nationality. I would argue that there was no more "conflict" either until the WWI and II agreements with the Zionists; the rest is what most know. What most don't know is the nature of the modern "conflict" which is very geopolitical and, recently, energy resources were added to the mix. Things are very different than those biblical perspectives. Other powers and interests are involved, which manipulate media and politics to deceive people worldwide. This must stop.

@@juliobro1 Yes, in general. But your first comment seemed so ignorant (I don’t mean this in a derogatory way, just completely unknowing, if that makes sense). You can divorce Jews from the Bible but that’s exactly where their “nationality” came from. Read Genesis 12. There are 5 significant covenants in the Old Testament and this one, with Abraham is THE most significant. You can generalize and modernize your description of this group of people, but you cannot possibly divorce it from religion. Hamas does not, the Jews do not, and as a Christian - I do not. Modernist like to paint in terms of oppressors vs victims. There is a strong argument that the Hebrew people have been one of the most oppressed over millennia. The Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, then in waves - Europeans. And, YES, Arabs. Dispersed, cast out repeatedly. I’m suggesting that this is a lot more complicated than the average young person waving the Palestinian flag understands. There deserves to be outrage for how the Palestinian people have suffered. That does NOT excuse Hamas and the atrocities committed on 10/7.

@@jessicagaulden2819 the covenants are religious in context. Regarding nationality, can nomads be a "nation"? Does a "nation" involves a fixed territory and other elements?
@jessicagaulden2819
@jessicagaulden2819 5 ай бұрын
@@juliobro1 You keep going on about them being nomads. Not true if you put it in context. Abraham was from Ur, a city-state in Mesopotamia. He gathered his family and headed to Canaan. Skip forward to the time of Jacob and his 12 sons. There was a major famine. Joseph had been sold into Egyptian slavery by 10 jealous brothers. A lot happened, he became very important and powerful in Egypt, had a vision years before and began stockpiling food. The Hebrews moved to Egypt bc they were starving. Over the next centuries they assimilated into the culture and were eventually enslaved by the Egyptians. During the time of Moses, they fled, heading back to Canaan. They wandered in the desert - Jewish and Christian teaching suggests this was necessary for the oldest generation to die out so God could reshape their culture into being specifically Hebrew without Egyptian influence. That’s why the book of Exodus is full of very precise rules about all kinds of things, and very Orthodox Jews still abide by those rules. They made it back to Canaan and assimilated into the culture. They’ve been trying to get back to that part of the world repeatedly throughout history.

This. Commentator simply says “Israel declared war”? That’s not what happened. They were surrounded and attacked from all sides and neighbouring enemies were making defence alliances. But to get to the KEY CAUSE: “If a single act of folly was more responsible for this explosion than any other, it was the arbitrary and dangerous announced decision (BY EGYPT) that the Straits of Tiran would be closed. The right of innocent, maritime passage must be preserved for all nations.” Israel said if Egypt closes the straits, it would be an act of war, and Egypt did that. The poster should check their history. It’s these type of sweeping statements that are actually biased, racist and spreading MISINFORMATION, that most dumbass viewers don’t know any better but to believe anything they see cause it’s dumbed down for their dumb iq

So many misconemptions: 1. In 1967 Israel declared war only on Egypt and Syria after they broke the truce laws if entering millitary forces to the Golan heights and Sinai Peninsula which seemed as a preaperation to attack. Jordan declared war on Israel and not vice versa. 2. Israel had no international pressure to withdraw from Sinai, Israel did it as part of a peace treaty with Egypt in order to achieve first peace and recognition by an arab country. 3. The oslo records didn't failed, they've stopped because of the assassination of the israeli prime minister and with the rise of the right wing. 4. Numerous suicide bombing? over 1300 israelis died in intifada by massive suicide bombing and terror attack, allmost everyday a bus, resturants, mall or hotel being blown up.
