I grew up and lived in Barrington so only a few minutes from where the shoot out occurred. When I was in graduate school one of my colleagues was obsessed with the fact that I lived so close to where one of his “idols” lived. My reply was yeah and several decades apart too lol. Interesingly, in the movie O, Brother Where Art Thou?, George makes an appearance; but he's treated as a little more of sympathetic character When referenced as "Babyface" in the bank, you can see that it really hurts him instead of just angering him. I actually felt kind of bad for him The real life Nelson, however, I don't feel much sympathy for. I wish the reformery school had helped, but he made his choice
