I couldn't help but notice behind him when he said that was a Black Paramedic who didn't say anything. I wonder if he knew who it was and how he felt about that man lying there in front of him. Also how that jerk didn't say anything about having a black man as a paramedic. This reminds me of a scene in E.R where Dr. Benton was standing in his mother's house on her birthday saying " I missed my own mother's birthday because i had to save the life of a man that had a Die Niger Die tattoo on his arm. " I suppose that might be how that paramedic felt and how George felt. However dude was right George saving his life makes him a bigger man and changed the mind of his son so that is huge. It's hard to change an older persons mind once it's made up but if you can affect the young you can change the future in the present one kid at a time. After all " he who has the youth has the future!" !! His dad's bigotry was the past maybe his sons acceptance of George saving his dad's life even though he's African American is the future. Here's hoping.

The full end of this scene, if I remember correctly, has the son walking out of the room when the remaining senior KKK member starts back up again. I loved the ending. George tells Bentley and Tom that they never change and left. When Herbert's right-hand man tries to start back up the meeting, the other attendees stormed out. When he tries to convince Duane to stick around, he tears up the pamphlets, trashes them, and leaves in disgust. Even though George didn't see it, he was wrong and people can change. Plus, George was the reason that they changed their ways by saving Herbert's life and showing Duane and the other attendees his integrity.
