Thank's so much for answering my question I was really worried about the job interview I had that day and your input helped me relax tremendously beforehand. Then the interview was put off to a different day. So just like you said the world was more complex than I could comprehend and the worry was only hurting me, for something that didn’t even happen. When the interview came round again I was prepared because of this video and I got the job. Thank you so much your videos have meant a lot to me and a lot of other people.

I am a member of your wellness academy and I do so enjoy your videos and your ability to share your sense of awe in a way that we can all participate and learn. I have a question... As you mentioned in an introduction to Eastern religions, Buddhists seek Nirvana and attempt to liberate themselves from all attachments that lead to the next life, seeking Nirvana ultimately. Is that also the goal of the Taoist? Or is it simply the liberation of negative vasanas, while embracing the positive so that our next lives are lived in a positive way? I am confused about our ultimate existence. Thank you George. Tom Murray

No the Daoists see this life as something to enjoy rather than escape. Something I can talk about on a future live session!
@awakestrong32103 жыл бұрын
Yeah interesting topic for a yt video. Liberation or nirvana in Buddhism doesn't imply any "escape" as far as I understand it. Unless you mean 'escaping' the suffering/samsara then yeah. Also interested in knowing what's your take on the differences here.

I practice Chinese Medicine and my practice is based on yin yang philosophy. Diet should also follow this philosophy. We eat too much meat and in particular mass produced, factory farmed meat. If meat and animal products are removed from the diet then it is important to to do targeted supplementation to replace what is lost from animal products and in particular meat. Iron and B12 need cofactors to be properly converted and used by the body and meat does this in an entourage way much like cannabis. The other vitamins and minerals found in the meat work like an orchestra and just supplementing with random things isn’t as powerful as eating meat. It is important to pay attention to this. I see much Blood deficiency in my clinic which causes insomnia, anxiety, tics, tremors, cramps, hair loss, blurred eyes, dry skin, tiredness…it can take a while for these things to happen after not consuming enough blood forming foods. This is more common too in menstruating females.

How can you let go of deep pain and trauma that never seem to leave you no matter how much you try to relax? 😭
@paulbateman8583 жыл бұрын
Perhaps begin with an acknowledgment and awareness that the human body and mind slowly sheds cells and renews it'self over time? Over the course of about 7 years every cell that makes us up has been completely replaced. The comfort to be found from having an awareness and understanding of this, is that whatever personal traumas we have experienced are eventually but memories that happened to an earlier version of ourselves. Hope this knowledge brings you some comfort and helps free you on some level. You could also meditate on the interconnectivity of the universe, not purely as a philosophical notion, but also as a scientific fact in many quantifiable ways. It can help diminish our personal suffering when you entertain the idea that many of the boundaries between ourselves and all other life in the universe are illusory. We are more than we seem.

Though I agree with almost every word your saying - if I was to nitpick about semantics for a moment: equating a biological mechanism to 'intelligence' is a false equivalency George, it's close, but it's different. There are many parts of the human body/nature that function independently and not as a result of 'intelligence'. If anything you could label it as a pattern/energy, the 'intelligence' thing feels like a left over from a world-view that's perhaps more Christian in origin. Re diet: you should of course be free to draw the line where you choose George, but until you lose the eggs maybe don't refer to yourself as Vegan? It's a quick way to explain your position, but for a vegan it's akin to hearing 'I'm not a killer, but I'm fine with bashing the odd squirrel' :) . Though I understand and personally agree with your distinction re: milk, the common vegan position is that farming chickens is problematic, period. Therefore, when we eat any eggs, even ethically farmed ones we're encouraging the world to think this is fine. You undoubtedly buy free-range eggs bought from a source you can trust, but many people will just buy factory farmed eggs, and not give it a second thought, in part as a result of public acceptance of this as a norm. I appreciate this stuff is a process, and only you have the right to choose what's right for you. Just giving you my perspective to add to your own - all the best from a 50+ Taoist, Kung Fu, Vegan. Keep going George, you're making a difference. ;)
@George-Thompson3 жыл бұрын
thanks Paul for your thoughts! In my view, the DNA that forms a plant or our body is still a form of intelligence, it self-replicates and creates an organism that is conscious. And yes I hear that. I do indeed buy local and factory farmed eggs are abhorrent. Cheers!

The difference between a vegetarian and a vegan is that vegans don't consume eggs, dairy, or fish because f their concern for animals, although animals in the wild eat animals, and fish and animals eat fish, and all Asians eat fish, and so did Jesus. I could be a vegetarian, although I enjoy chicken, hamburgers, and steak, but our society isn't organized for vegetarians. I don't cook and there aren't many vegetarian restaurants, let alone fast food restaurants geared toward vegans or vegetarians. There are hardly any healthy options at these places. A grilled chicken salad, a plain salad, or a grilled chicken wrap, and a grilled chicken sandwich. How do you do it? Are there more options outside to eat where you live or do you cook or make your own food?

You thru me off completely with this Atheist tirade. Of course I feel the magical mystery of the universe. I dont claim superiority over others. I just don’t claim to have the answers. I think you got some thoughts mixed up there. Ok
@dannejoon3 жыл бұрын
Isn’t it beautiful that there’s a philosophy like Daoism that works both for atheists and belivers. I am an atheist but I’ve always believed in the good in other people working togheter and finding balance in my life to help a lot more than believing that the universe will do it for me.
@George-Thompson3 жыл бұрын
I appreciate your thoughts. I was more speaking to the atheism that makes one feel like a meaningless fluke in the world. Rather than coming out of the world, being one part of it, as one manifestation of the laws of nature. I am an atheist in the traditional sense. And Indeed as Dan said Daoism can be integrated into many world views. Thanks again for your thoughts!

@@George-Thompson I’m honored to be in your mentions! I also firmly believe in Daoism as a sort of guide to living a balanced life. As a martial artist myself of Budo; Balance is everything. Not just in the Dojo, but in every aspect of life and in yourself 🌳
