Totally agree and glad you realise it, I grew up in the 80's and people wrote love songs, soul, disco etc or songs that commented on matters of concern. I would say the rap industry in particular is responsible for 'lowering the tone' with its references to money, ho's and sex, not saying its all gone bad but it doesn't exactly help matters, music should elevate the spirit , bring joy to the soul even if it is a melancholic beauty as in ' A different corner' . I swear it's like he came straight from Heaven in this video. All dressed in white like that, he looks like an angel, but he's missing one thing: the wings. He has since gained those, but the world has lost a man whose talent, beauty, and heart can never be matched or replaced. I'll freely admit that I have a certain level of guilt for not knowing what an incredible artist, and man, George was in life (I've only really "discovered" his music in these past few weeks); a guilt that makes me wonder if I have the right to call myself a fan of his now that he's gone. After a few seconds of this song starting, I had to sit down..... stopping everything I was doing..... and just listen. Time stood still, as I was led to another reality. R.I.P YOG.....Thankyou for the wonderful memories....This song as special meaning to me...1986 i bought this on vinyl and used to play it all the time in my bedroom whilst singing along and pretending i was George...My late mum downstairs would hear me...so whenever this song came on anywhere she would always think of me...My mum passed away in 2007 and now whenever i play or hear this song it reminds me of my mum and brings a smile to my face of happy memories...thankyou George...For everything...Do me one last favour...give my mum a rendition of this up there please...let her know I'm thinking of her and you...Sleep tight George ❤😢

Kevin Redwood I am in tears. Used to hit the repeat button on those lonely nights in London away from my country of birth . I still do though. Left home at 20. Only got to see my mum 12 years later for 10 nights. 3 months later on the 13th of March 2006 she passed on. Thanks George for giving me something to smile about. This song just gives me the shivers. This song is one of my all time GM favourites. It is a timeless masterpiece along with my other favourites Careless Whisper, Last Christmas and Jesus to a Child. I grew up listening to Wham! and George Michael and I still listen to his music. The world has lost an icon, a legend, a genius and a truly lovely and compassionate man who secretly gave millions of £s of his personal wealth to charities and the poor, even personally volunteering to help and feed the homeless in London.
