This song got me through so many dark times as a child. I would listen to it over and over on my walkman at night not really understanding what it was about but the emotion in George's stirred something in my soul. It comforted me to know that real love and emotion of that magnitude could be possible. One of the few voices that brings me to tears. Forever missed.

My heart is really aching right now! I just turned 18, but I'm so obsessed with 80s and 90s music. Up until recently (for me personally), Whitney Houston and Luther Vandross were the best vocalist out of the 80s. But I discovered George Michael this year thanks to Mariah Carey's cover of this song... I was literally just becoming so obsessed with this man. For the past few weeks I started watching all of his videos and learning his songs.... including the stuff from his Wham! days... I was even brave enough to play his music for the first time in the car with other people...literally the day before he died. As an inspiring singer-songwriter, he had become one of the only male vocalists and writers who really inspired me. I just knew that I'd get the chance to tell him how much he meant to me. His artistry was unbelievable! I even recently uploaded my cover of this very song! I hope I did him true justice. #RIPGeorgeMichael

This music keeps me alive, it talks to me, it’s spiritual. I get to escape and go back in time with my music. I live in a different reality in my head, it’s a world where I’m loved and not alone and I get to love others and there’s no rules or boundaries, we all get to love each other, in peace, with God. Sending love to you. -j

I did in the sense that I am now able to create the art I want, and have enough people to share it with even though I'm obviously not the most popular artist in the place. Had I not "made the jump" and focused on improving my skills I'd likely be living a miserable life without the possibility of turning dark thoughts and moments into something beautiful through my art. If you do have a passion, it's never too late to start dedicating time to it, I believe art is the essence of human life, and it's what remains of us when we're gone. :)

@Indigogoddess1111 Stevens Yup he has said it in several interviews. Did you know that he also said he wrote this song and Edge Of Heaven about Pat Fernandes the backup singer for Wham he dated for years? He admits the songs are connected to the same woman but not to her name but those around him have said it was about her. She finally totally broke up with him in 1986 as she hated his megastar status but supposedly they still loved each other. Back then we all didn't realize every song he wrote was about a real life experience so the song makes me feel its depth even more now that I know it was straight from a personal experience he was living.
