Nothing says 80s blue-eyed soul like George Michael... This song was #1 for a reason.. It spoke to a lot of people and was part of a wave of 80s ballads that defined a genre for Gen Xers to fall in love with. Remember the 80s were the only decade not to have seen a big war for nearly half a century so there was a big focus on relationships and building a family for the future. Even though I was basically a Hard Rock guy in the 70s and 80s, the ballads were great to give your ears a rest after hours of having them pounded by guitar riffs and backbeats... not to mention the ladies in those days seemed to appreciate guys who liked to mix it up a bit. 😉

George was 17 yrs old when he wrote this song. He handed it to some music person and the guy told George it was terrible and threw it in the garbage can. What a dumb bell. The guy could have made millions. It took 11 saxophone players for George to get the sound he wanted. George was a perfectionist but a genius.

"It's not a real reaction reaction". So what? No, really, who cares? I realize yours is a reaction channel, but you've long since transcended that. Your channel is less about immediate reactions than it is about the exploration of music in its many aspects. And that transcendence was always inevitable because of who you are. It's at this point that I feel I should point out that I've quickly grown *very* tired of at least three other "reaction" channels who were doing pure reactions. There was a degree of sensationalism and a lack of real appreciation for the music. There is never any question that you appreciate the music for what it is *even when I disagree and just don't like a song*. So, I'm still here. Watching you. So, fine, it's not a "reaction" video sometimes. You don't need to apologize for that ever. Maybe just call it a "Presentation Video". It might even be interesting to see how those perform relative to "reaction" videos.

This is a very good song, and George just had an incredible voice. RIP George. The band Seether did a pretty good cover of this song a few years ago. Thanx for sharing! ~Be Blessed

As a saxophone player myself I actually played this sax solo for a girl in college. There are many saxophone solos out there: The Heat Is On, Take 5 by Dave Brubeck, Dancing In The Dark etc. The only sax solo that everyone wanted to learn way back in the day was Kenny G Songbird. This one is not at the top but it is one of the most sensual ones to play.

Careless Whisper is used pretty awesomely in the movie Keanu. A great gag in a movie that could have used more cat.

The sax in this song ranks among my favorites, right next to practically all Sade songs, "Lily was here" by Candy Dulfer/Dave Stewart and "The Working Hour" by Tears for Fears.
