One thing that totally went wrong when the show ran out of source material was that it became good guys vs bad guys. The books didn't really have just good vs bad, there were a lot of grey characters. Good characters doing bad things and bad characters doing a good deed and stuff like that and that faded away in the show and it became a good vs evil sort of show which was definitely not how the world was built

Except for one of the major complaints people have being a supposedly redeemed character (Jaime) doing something bad
@p.c.howard7025 Жыл бұрын
You are right - things really changed when they ran out of source material
@NottherealLucifer Жыл бұрын
@@joelskelley2625Except that not the complaint at all. The complaint is that a character's entire personality was changed in a single instance in a completely illogical way. Jaime killed the Mad King for the people of King's Landing, him suddenly saying he never cared about him makes zero sense.

Who ever says that the tropes of the heroes journey aren't present in Martin's work ether doesn't know the heroes journey or doesn't knows Martin's work… They're messy, they're not linear or sometimes clear, but they're there

"That was a frequent practice in the middle ages. When you didn't trust one of your underlords or an enemy who had bent the knee, you took some of his children as wards or hostages." "If his father creates trouble he's to be hung". I think this is the true nature of Quentyn Martell's "fostering" w/the Yronwoods, as arranged by Jon Arryn on King Robert's behalf. Unbeknownst to King Robert (and the outside world). As punishment for harbouring an infant Daenerys. This arrangement was the best way to save an already war torn Westeros from another civil war so soon after the rebellion, to protect the life of young Dany (who would've been immediately expelled from Dorne/sent to Braavos), and ensure Prince Doran's cooperation. And like Theon, perhaps Quent was motivated to pull an incredibly foolhardy move like stealing the dragons (in Theon's case taking Winterfell) because his desperation to impress/prove himself to his estranged father outweighed his logic. PS- The Hound is the best outcast character in my humble opinion.

that makes sense. I always wondered why Quentyn would be fostered with the Yronwoods when Doran planned for him to rule Dorne. btw, do you believe in the Gravedigger theory, and do you think The Hound will make another appearance in the books?

He replicated the feeling of Gandalf dying with Eddard Stark being beheaded and staying that way; then, as a parallel to Frodo, Jon is stabbed to death but will then be brought back to life, albeit as a hollower version of his past self.

I find too cringy to see artwork where characters are essentially represented as their actors in the show. I enjoy watching how other people (artists) imagine the characters in their heads.

I much prefer looking up fan art from the books for inspiration for imagining the characters in my head, I try very hard to separate the books characters looks from the actors in the show. They book characters are way younger than they’re portrayed in the show so that makes it a bit easier

However, back in 1985, horror novelist Stephen King wrote a children's novel called Dragon's Eyes which centered on Randall Flagg, the villain of The Stand, and his successful attempt to corrupt a kingdom.
