For Christmas, asked my parents for a Beatle album after seeing them on TV in the 60's, surprised to see George Harrison's "Wonderwall album" for my Xmas present which turned me on to India's mystical music. By the time "My Sweet Lord" came on the radio, little did I know few years later would be meeting my Guru Srila Prabhupada in '74/ now 2020 retired in South India still chanting Hare Krsna.. I loved that "wonderwall" film. My passion was fired up when my dear friend took me to a live concert of Ali Akbar Khan. (His son was one of the musicians in"Wonderwall". My Dad brought home Abbey Road, Rubber Soul, Sgt Pepper's lonely Heart's club, and possibly White album.. for sure "let it Be". I would put on "here comes the sun" over and over and over in the fall & winter especially, because my worst nightmare Mom didn't allow the heat to be on in the house except rarely. 🥶 Ha ha 😁 KRISHNA is still the most wonderful ! I'm also in India, chanting the maha-mantra on my japa mala, having joined officially in San Diego (New Govardhan). But first saw the sankirtan party in SF in 1968, & then went to SF Rathayatra in 1969. 💜🕉️💜

Here's the record of "Barnacle Bill the Sailor" by Hoagy Carmichael that Dhani refers to. Hoagy is not much in evidence here, although I guess he's playing piano. Vocals are by Carson Robison (gruff voice) and Frank Luther (fair young maiden), the composers of the song. Bix Beiderbecke's cornet playing is much in evidence.

I believe he said WC is rock n roll, as in 'popular' and of course he was right. Great songs have been written in the 20s and 30s and I wonder which songs George loved.
