The oldest thing I could find was a Halo theme song remix from almost 3 years ago, but that didn't start any trend. Cornelius Link's Astronomia (coffin dance meme) and Pumped up kicks remixes blew up and inspired many other creators to start uploading their own remixes. It's crazy honestly, and I love it!

The medieval halo theme is most likely inspired by that. but the combination of pumped up kicks and astronomia made enough people realize they could make medieval versions of songs and they could be popular. Several of the other medieval posters cite cornelius link as their inspo.

Actually it should be "your", unfortunately - thy/thine would only be for a singular peasant. The good news is that you can change "put" to "putteth", the imperative (command) plural ("-eth" is normally for a 3rd person singular indicative (statement) e.g. "she dwelleth in London", but this is the exception). Although I would phrase it something like "Peasants, raiseth your hands aloft!"
