The reason why there are many bow characters in new releases is that the game had less of them than other types (the same thing happened to spears) also no two bow characters are similar as for example yoimiya feels more like a machine gun and Sara casts buffs with a single arrow and leaves. Also for Yun Jin there is already a singing character and Microphones and speakers don't exist in this world.

Spears were really odd, when the game came out there was only one character who used them (Xingling). I'm guessing at some point Keqing was a spear too, given she has the charged attack stamina consumption of a spear-user despite using a sword.

Yeah, that rant about the weapons felt weird. I understand not having played the game you'd think that it might get repetitive, but really there are lots of unique playstyles among characters who use the same weapon. Yelan and Childe couldn't be more different, and they're both hydro bows. Same goes for Heizou and Sucrose, and they're both anemo catalysts. She'll find out once she plays the game.

I won't add to the others commenting about Yunjin's actual opera performance ingame, which you can watch for yourself. About your comment about her weapon-of-choice being a spear instead of a more stage-like prop (like a mic or something) seeming as if they didn't quite know what to give her, her weapon choice has actually got cultural history. Firstly, traditional Chinese opera rely on the performer's own projection and microphones weren't really used. Secondly, Chinese opera has a few role types. The one that Yunjin is based on is the female warrior type (most likely the "dao ma dan" role, judging from the flags on her back and the fact that she sings a lot as well). Their stage prop is usually a spear, which they use to carry out fancy kicks, flourishes and stunts. So her spear really is the only weapon for her. Yunjin's character design is basically a love letter to the art of Chinese Opera :)

@@georgieegames Yeah, lots of people were confused when Yunjin was released and she's already highly tweaked to make her more palatable for modern audiences. Chinese opera is...a shock to the senses in its undiluted form, which even many younger Chinese people find hard to understand. It can be really fun in many ways though lol. Though Chinese opera singing (you hear a bit of Yunjin's opera vocalising at the very end of her trailer) can be quite jarring for those who're unused to it, it has heavily influenced many modern Chinese songs, which sometimes incorporate a stylised "opera-like" way of singing, like kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJLboH6qeLqbhck (the "opera-like" singing comes in around 1 min 44 secs. Pretty enough to be the most replayed part of the song heh) Yunjin's clothes...well, there's stuff like kzbin.info/www/bejne/gp2rdniif85ml7s floating around KZbin. The spear, the bobby-ball things on the headpiece, the brocade cape-thing over the shoulders, the dramatic winged eyeshadow, the flags on the back (they're really heavy), they can all be found on Yunjin. As for fun spear-kicking, kzbin.info/www/bejne/gaLMnmqnZZqNmqs has a fight scene. Spears flying everywhere lol. Poor Yunjin has to kick her spear alone during her idle animations ingame because there's no one to play spears with her hahaha

@@georgieegames well, in western opera singers also dont use mics. Not traditionally and not now. The thing about opera is the voice projection so the mic is not needed. Plus is a new invention.

About the archers in this game: Very few of them have an exclusively "aim and fire" style. In fact, most of the archers have extremely useful abilities outside of their weapon, which makes them a great asset to a team. One of the only archers that is purely an "aim and shoot" type is Ganyu, a character you came across in your previous reaction video. The others have various abilities such as healing, buffing attacks and even placing down turrets that fire automatically (looking at Fischl...Oz is basically a turret).

Little correction about Sayu: she has a Mujina outfit, not a tanuki outfit (although it's easy to mistake them for one another, and it's even a thing in game because people call her tanuki all the time and she gets mad).

Bow characters are very different from each other. Some focus on auto attacks, some on charged attacks and others are supporting with their abilities. Hoyoverse really put effort in making characters unique and many are very fun to play.

I think you really should watch the Collected Miscellany videos too to understand how 5 weapon types already offer so many different playstyles/mechanics. Bow users aren't all the same, and some barely use their bow for aiming. Some chars can also change weapons with their skill, like Raiden Shogun. It's gonna be a huge update if they ever add more weapon types as there will be lots of complications (weapon lore, history why this type of weapon is used in the world, who found the martial arts that use that weapon, why it is unheard of until its release, etc)

Not gonna lie, Aloy's voice lines in game are actually kind of adorable. Especially her reaction to people being so friendly and welcoming everywhere she goes. The only downside is that they didn't give her any voice lines relating to the other characters. It's a pity because I think it'd be really cute to hear what she thinks about them.

If you liked these, I would recommend checking out the version trailers. There is a trailer every update for the new characters and events and they’re a good way to get into the game, you get a sense of when each character was added, as well as a bit of the story

There is actually a misunderstanding. In the game there is only 5 weapons and characters have to share it. If it was made in diffrent way it would be very difficult to get so many weapons for the players. Also if character have x weapon doesn't mean they are forced to use it in combat. Out of 11 bow characters 6 of them dont use bow in actual combat, they have them for sake of game balance or their esthetic. Next 3 of them use bow attacks that have autoaim. Only 2 of archers have to aim their shots and one of them have BIG area so you will hit target around you even if you shoot the ground. Also weapon dont exacly say what character is intended for. You could see Sayu with gigant club you liked but she is made to be a healer + help with long distance travels. If you like you can make her your main damage dealer, nobody will stop you but thats now what she will be the best at. Also some characters appear to be less interesting becouse they exist to be side members of the party. You dont use them all the time, instead you use their skills to allow other to perform better. For example you liked Raiden a lot, but you didnt find Kujo Sara gameplay that interesting. Thats becouse Kujo is made so she can be used for 1 second to let Raiden gameplay be even better. Same is for Itto. His best pair is Gorou (the dog boy). All u need from Gorou to press 1 button so Itto can have more fun. However they have unique designs becouse designers wants the character bo be likeable regardless how much attention you give them. For Yun Jin, in game she actually makes opera poses after each of her attacks, in one of the quests have a real stage performance where she sings. But her gameplay? You press 2 buttons a change her to other character becouse she is made to empower others not fight herself. As for the lore and story, my opinion is that playing the game quests is better becouse you will understand the setting much much better, but it will take u few weeks to get to the Raiden shogun quest for example.

This always through people off, but it’s understandable since you have never played the game. The reason for so many Bow, Polearm, and Cryo characters is because they were widely unrepresented when the game launched. Genshin 1.0 - 22 Characters* Anemo (Wind) - 3 Sword - 7 Geo - 2 Claymore - 5 Electro - 5 Polearm - 1 Hydro - 3 Catalyst - 6 Pyro - 5 Bow - 3 Cryo - 3 Genshin 2.8 - 51 Characters * Anemo - 7 Sword - 12 Geo - 7 Claymore - 9 Electro - 9 Polearm - 9 Hydro - 7 Catalyst - 10 Pyro - 10 Bow - 11 Cryo - 10 It’s getting more balanced but the stretch of only these characters gets noticed. I hope this was helpful. Still loved the reaction these are always fun to see and if I’m to recommend something it’s the Character Teasers. Only the 5* characters get them but they have a nice animation with a good idea of a characters personality and background. * I left the Traveler (MC) out of the element count since that’s independent but counted them towards Swords. Also I hope my formatting doesn’t horribly break since I’m writing this on mobile.

If you see a demo that is not as good as the others or they didn't do justice for the character, it's probably because it's a demo for a 4* character (with lower rarity). So they don't put as much effort into them as the other 5* character demos. Just to clear things up ^^

13:47 Sayu uses a claymore (big 2 handed sword) the club works as a claymore in game. So technically its not a different weapon type.

There are only a few weapon types in the game (sword, bow, claymore, catalyst, polearm). But they've shown that while characters can EQUIP certain weapons, their animations use others. For example, Childe uses a bow, but during his skill duration he uses a pair of hydro daggers. Raiden Shogun uses a polearm, but during her burst, she pulls out a sword. And most recently, Heizou, who uses a catalyst (which is usually used by characters who fall into the "caster" stereotype) but doesn't stand there casting spells, he literally punches and kicks in melee range. So while it sucks that there are only a few weapon types in the game, and they may not add more, they've shown that characters animations and fighting styles aren't beholden to those weapon types. Recently it feels like they've started mattering very little. Another recent character, Yelan, for example has some very close range/melee attacks with her bow during her combo string. Oh, AND there are some characters that exist in the game but did NOT get demo trailers. The main character themselves (longsword, element varies), Jean (longsword, wind), Diluc (claymore, fire), Beidou (claymore, electro), Razor (claymore, electro). Amber (bow, fire), Barbara (catalyst, water), Chongyun (claymore, ice), Bennett (longsword, fire), Xingqiu (longsword, water), Sucrose (catalyst, wind).

Ok Georgie so here’s a quick thing about the weapon tipes: There are currently only 5 weapon tipes,sword,claymore (usually a bulky club like the one Sayu has or just a long sword),Bow & Arrow,Spear and Caralyst (usually depicted as a book or a orb) and although i do agree that there should be more weapon types weapons that you mentioned like guns,rocket launchers or microphones can’t exist because the world of Genshin doesn’t have that type of technology yet (well maybe Khaenri’ah did but that nation was destroyed,so that’s why you sometimes see missiles in trailers because the Ruin Guards who shot those missiles were from Khaenri’ah) (also yes there is that guy in Ayato’s trailer with a freaking sniper but he’s a part of the Fatui and the Fatui may have access to Khaenri’ah’s technology) Also you said that you were worried about not being able to play Bow & Arrow character and by that i assume that you can’t aim really well im games,to that i have good news because most of the Genshin bow characters don’t really focus on their Charged attacks because they’re either a Support like Gorou and Kujou sara who focus on their skills to help their team so u don’t have to do charged attacks much if at all,or they mostly use their abilities or normal attacks as damage like Yoimiya and Yelan for example,the only Bow character that actually has to use their charged attacks (which is when you aim) is Ganyu (and sometimes Kujou Sara and Yelan because sometimes they will get a special charged attack after meeting a condition necessary to activate the special charged attack,but Sara’s you just have to use on the ground in front of you to give yourself a buff and Yelan’s charaged special charged attack charges up really fast and deals damage in an area so you "don’t really have to aim" those 2 either)

Pretty sure Fontaine actually has some really advanced tech like air balloons, not to mention Sumeru has Bluetooth phones. ( even if it does sound like its power by a Gnosis ) But yeah, all weapon needs to fit into one of the 5 types, granted there are ways around it just like how clubs count as claymores and the latest character uses fists with catalysts. There is also Ningguang who does not use a weapon at all and purely relies on magic, as unlike all the other catalyst users she does not actually equip the weapon you give her. As for guns and crossbows, both of them were much older inventions than some stuff that exists in-game, but they would be relegated to a character's burst or elemental skill. Rapid-firing crossbows and guns are pretty modern things, so it just wouldn't work to have a character run around with something like a blunderbuss as the main weapon. The reload speed would be too slow for the main weapon type. also also, there is always Alice who is canonically able to gather information and items from other universes, like how she knew who Alloy was and how she knows of our real-world Rome. Alice was also the one who gave Barbara the pop idol magazine that made her want to be a celebrity, so she has items from our modern world which is honestly concerning. Alice is just a beast and is probably one of if not THE most powerful characters we know about.

just a little nitpick, how does the Kamera work then if there are no microphones? Theres even a quest where you make a movie with sound so the tech is a bit inconsistent even outside of Khaenri'ah and the Fatui.

@@MegaHuntress Well yes Fontaine seems to have mire advanced technology but not Gun-level,also the Sumeru "Bluetooth headphones" are magic and not technology so that doesn’t count,and Ningguang actually equips her weapon as you can see her using it in some of her abilities,why it doesn’t appear on her auto attacks sometimes may be a bug or just a decision made to make her a little different (line Yae)

But yeah overall your point stands, even tho i would say my point also stands that the technology level of the world is a bit inconsistent and doesnt make sense entirely. For nations that are supposedly in constant commerce with oneanother its strange that tech like that doesnt spread more if it exists already.

Hi! Love your reactions to the videos and can't wait to see you play! About weapons, catalyst (similar to 'magic') is also a range option. As for Bow users, all characters have an elemental skill and Burst so you can literally only use a Bow character for those and not have to aim with the bow (auto attack is also an option). I'm bad with Bows and yet I use them for their skill & burst easily! :)

You mistake between Chinese opera and western opera. In Chinese opera, props like spears are commonly uses in stage performance so Yun Jin using a spear to attack are very close to reality opera. And in this game, microphone and speaker are not exist I think. Maybe we'll encounter one in the future.

For more Genshin content I’ll definitely sub! ;) Btw, little advice if you want her and don’t wanna spend a lot of money, don’t use a single primogem until her banner reappears. Characters in Genshin appear in promotional banners. Each banner lasts 20 days. Raiden Shogun has had 2 banners thus far. The reason you shouldn’t spend primogems on anything else than Raiden’s banner is that you get many primogems in early game, but as you progress it becomes rare. So if you save wisely, you can not only get her, but maybe even her signature weapon as well :D it might not make sense to you now, but trust me, it will make sense once you progress.

OK to help you out a little, the weapon type of the character doesn't always have relevance to their playstyle. For example Diona is a bow character but you use her for her shield (elemental skill) and healing (elemntal burst) so you don't actually aim and shoot with her necessarily. Each character has a specific function in your team based on their skill and burst ability that will boost your main damage dealer's damage (your main damage dealer in your team is the one that requires the most field time to deal damage to the enemy and will most likely be using their normal attacks like aim and shoot with bow or melee attacks with sword and shield etc.)

Well it varies how specific a character's function is or if they have more than one, quite a few characters can perform multiple roles depending on their weapon and artifact set (eg Melt Ganyu versus main DPS Ganyu, or DPS Yanfei versus Tankfei).

Bows in this game work on automatic aiming, the charged attacks are the ones that have to be manually aimed and are almost never required

I'm not good at bow too, but I can guarantee that we mostly use only their elemental skill and burst, like Sara, Gourou, Fischl and Diona, and switch to other characters. Ganyu is actually a bow dps because we use her charged attack which is really strong. For special bow user like Tartaglia (Childe), his skill will unleash melee weapon. In his story, he said he's not good at bow but he want to challenge himself 🤣. Itto's eng va is the best. He often say something out of the script, and it makes Itto character unique. Thoma is a housekeeper of Kamisato clan. He's also like a friend of Ayato and a big brother to Ayaka. Ayato and Ayaka are easy-to-build dps. They go together quite well too.👍

One thing u probably should know is that eventho they are a bow characters, most of them didn't really play as one. Usually their skills and burst are the main focus of their kit which used for supporting other characters so u dont have to worry much.

Hiya there Georgie! If you ever wish to react to something similar to Genshin impact I would highly recommend reacting to some of its sister game Honkai Impacts animated shorts. Just like with the Genshins character trailers the older shorts are good and they just keep getting better with the newer ones. Honkai is older than Genshin so its lore is even deeper which makes it really intriguing.

As others have said too, the less impressive trailers are for 4* characters- many of which are support characters, not main attackers. Their weapons are sometimes aesthetic choices, sometimes cultural, sometimes narrative related. Sometimes they’re very useful (Fischl is an excellent archer despite being 4*), but sometimes the focus is more on their skill/burst abilities. Because Genshin combat relies on constant character switching to induce elemental reactions, take advantage of buffs and heals, or to debuff enemies and exploit weaknesses, you won’t use every character actively all the time. Some characters are meant to be background in your party, complements to your main attackers and defenders, that only come out momentarily for support reasons and then get switched out again. Yun Jin, Gorou, Kujo Sara, Sayu, and others (Xingqiu, Bennett, etc), are all examples of characters that you won’t use for primary attacking in game usually. They still have deep, complex stories and histories anyway, and Hoyoverse still pays them lots of narrative attention in game, but in combat they are complementary to other characters on your team rather than being the stars.

Most of those characters are only available through limited banners so the ones you want you'll have to wait a while until their banner gets a rerun so you'll only be able to get the 4* ones atm until a 5* banner reruns atm there is a 5* character that has their rerun banner up but imo when you do play the game and she is still avaliable to pull, Don't while yes she can be useful at a lower level I'd personally stick to Monstadt characters because they'll be easier to ascend and get the materials for where as the one who has her banner up her ascention materials won't be availiable until later on in the game at Inazuma so please don't let the fans coax you into pulling for her as I said once you start getting a higher level in game the monsters will also get stronger so she won't be able to do much until you have the right things to ascend her

Shogun is a huge fan favorite. She is super cool, really pretty and just one of the best characters in the game in general. She is also by far the best written character in the game as of right now. Her story is just awesome from start to finish. Soon a new region is coming out so we will see if she will be usurped from any of these spots, but with the recent gameplay announcements it seems like she is only gona be better. Her biggest weakness now is her element but it's getting a new elemental reaction soon that's gona power it up considerably.

While I do agree there should be more weapon variance, I don't think it's very fair of you to judge all the bow characters as feeling the same when you haven't even tried them out. All of them have different kits and playstyles and some of them don't even feel like bow characters at all. And they're always innovating with new kit concepts, like with Heizou.

find it funny how ive seen 3 people comment at yoimiya and saras trailers that there are alot of bow characters haha. its funny how the order of the videos changes peoples perspective of things. I understand you havent played much of genshin so dont know how it works but there are 5 weapon types which can be put on the respective character who specializes in that weapon. Modern day weapons and tech isnt really incorperated in this game. the closest thing to a gun is an enemy who has a rifle but its from an enemy organization that has pretty high tech compared to everyone else. ive seen many people comment about yunjin and the practicality behind her design etc so i wont comment about that.

there's five weapon types, but what really matters in gameplay is the characters' elemental skills and bursts, there are few characters that rely on normal attack gameplay, so no matter that is just a few weapon types, weave in elemental reactions and you have great variety of gameplay styles.

Lol I'm a little offended as a bow main that you think they all have the exact same gameplay. They don't as no two characters have the same kit or playstyle so even if they are of the same weapon type and/or the same element they have each have their own unique designs and gameplay. So while I do hope that Genshin does add more weapon types (I hope it's not guns cause I don't like guns in general but a crossbow does sound nice) each character has their own individuals skills and bursts, so much so that there are no two characters that have the exact same kit. Overall I'd say that you should test the game, watch the characters miscellaneous vids, and watch other content creators explaining on how to use and build said characters first before really concluding or generalizing characters' gameplays and playstyles based off their weapon types from the character demos. Besides, bow or ranged characters have a unique mechanic called aim cancelling in the game and through mastering this you can basically play them as shotguns. My favorite example of this is C1 Venti because his charged attacks fires off 3 arrows at once and if you practice aim cancelling, Shotgun Venti is so satisfying to play.

Yelan actually uses bow but some characters like: Childe Yelan Itto or Raiden Shogun changes weapon when you use their Elemantal skill or their Elemental burst and we call those big looking weapons claymore some of them look like big and heavy swords and some of them looks like the weapon in the Sayu's trailer Sayu,Itto,Xinyan,Eula and Chongyun (blue haired boy in Shenhe's trailer)

I don't think a gun would fit into the setting of Genshin. Maybe a flintlock pistol would, but not the modern ones. Also, if there was that much variety on weapons, it would be hell to try and get them. The chance to get a specific weapon would decrease even more than it already is ;-;
