You’ll be starting at an interesting time. The next major update, 3.0, should be coming out around the 24th of this month. It’ll be introducing a new playable element to the game and adding a whole new region. The 3.0 reveal livestream should be sometime this weekend (hopefully). It’ll be a while before you can reach that story content, but there will certainly be a lot for you to do.

@@Jev_the_fluorescent_shrimp How is that twitch's fault when they weren't streaming directly from Twitch's headquarter or from their exclusive cloud server. Streamers like Enviosity and Tectone was literally streaming the stream while streaming their own stream on the platform and they literally had no issue with it. "twitch's problem" has the be the worst excuse you've ever brought up. And no, for a very successful company to not even be able to manage their part correctly as every other games like Elden ring, Zelda, etc, where there's barely any sign of bugs or mistranslation/typos. Here, considering that JP had no issue with any of the in-game audio and translation, but you see the end product on the EN side of things messing up Shenhe's voice direction (disregarding the side effects of the "red ropes" in her tone of voice), misgendering the Sumeru Archon, English dub doesn't know how to pronounce German or Chinese words, and a lot of other things. Rather than "unexpected", they got 42 days to stream a pre-recorded video and livestream it. Have you ever thought of how easy that is? It's like somebody from Hoyoverse EN decided to hire somebody who never streamed or use OBS before in their life and expected that person to do it correctly in front of 300k+ viewers that came to check out the new version update. Think before you talk please.

Long comment here, bear with me! Every update includes both new permanent content and time-limited events, so a lot of what you saw in those trailers isn't in the game anymore (but a lot is!)--as a general rule, if it looks like a minigame, it's probably an event. A quick summary of important additions by update goes something like: 1.1 - archon quest (main story) chapter 1 act 3 added, Zhongli/Childe/Diona/Xinyan added, new weekly boss added, Unreconciled Stars event (very lore-heavy, highly recommend watching the cutscenes on KZbin!) 1.2 - Chalk Prince and the Dragon event, Dragonspine area added, Albedo + Ganyu added 1.3 - first Lantern Rite event, Xiao + Hu Tao added, new boss added to Liyue 1.4 - Windblume Festival event, Rosaria added, introduction of hangout events (quests focused on 4* characters with branching stories), chapter 1 act 4 added 1.5 - Zhongli's second story quest added, new weekly boss added, Eula added with story quest, Yanfei added, new boss added to Dragonspine, Serenitea Pot added 1.6 - first summer event, temporary Golden Apple Archipelago map added, Kazuha added notably WITHOUT a story quest, archon quest act 2 prologue added, new boss added (initially in GAA, later moved to Inazuma) 2.0 - BIIIIIG UPDATE. Remember, it's an h there--it's Kazu/ha/, like "haha" ...I think there were other things I wanted to say but I can't remember them. Anyways! Hope you enjoy the game

Aha, I remembered the other thing I wanted to comment on--your comments about Durin! LOTR takes inspiration from a Germanic legend called the Nibelungenlied (and the opera based on that legend, the Ring Cycle). Genshin also draws some inspiration from that when it comes to Durin, Dragonspine, and other characters surrounding that storyline. They have the same name because they were inspired by the same thing! (Note: I myself have never actually seen or read LOTR so idk how it's portrayed there, but I know that's where the name originates!)

Pulling for Raiden Shogun is the best decision i've made in this game, no other character comes close to the level of enjoyment i get out of her. Design, backstory, personality, gameplay, all of them top tier. And she's arguably the most useful unit to have in your roster, definitely a must-pull!

I'm afraid many of the events are up for a limited time, but they do tend to be re-released in some form at least once a year. Tho character and story quests + many new game systems like 'serenitea pot's' and most map areas are now permanently available. Also, although you would likely not lose much progress on starting a new account, the is cross play available now between ps4 and pc. so good luck and happy travels.

Since the updates come out roughly every six weeks, there's already a lot (like, *a lot*) in the game, even not counting the temporary events, and with a major update that will happen at the end of this month, there will be even more, so you might feel compelled to catch up as soon as possible. Here's advice: don't rush. Genshin as a game isn't really meant to be speedran, and exploration is a big part of the game. So take your time, explore the map at your own pace, enjoy the scenery, even just stop at a pretty location and enjoy the soundtrack. The stuff that is permanently in the game will wait for you :D And as for temporary events, while some of them are mostly minigames with a crumble or two of worldbuilding, some others turn out to be big and plot relevant (unfortunately, there has been no event reruns so far), so if you wanna learn about those, youtube has both silent playthroughs and summary videos with key plot points. There are also certain events that happen once each year (this has been the case so far, at least), like Lantern Rite (Chinese New Year), and while the event specifics are different each time, the main theme is similar enough to know what to look forward to. So, take your time.

Yae Miko is not strictly a "God", but she is a supernatural creature. In Genshin, you can broadly divide the characters into: Humans/Humanoids Demigods/Mythological Creatures Full Gods Most of the characters are regular humans or humanoid subspecies (EG, Gorou is a regular humanoid despite his animal features). Whereas Yae Miko would fit into the demigod category. Specifically, she's a Kitsune (the mythological creature that Ahri from League or Kurama from Naruto is based on). There's a lot of variation in this category re: power level though, for example Xiao is a Demigod, but he's very close to full-god in terms of power (he can teleport, is thousands of years old, enter peoples minds through dreams etc), whereas Aratakki Itto is an Oni (so, a mythological creature), but he's functionally a regular mortal in all the ways that really matter (since the only major difference he has from being an Oni is high strength and a major soybean allergy). There are very few Full Gods left alive in the world of Genshin (they have slowly died out over the history of the game, so there's only a few left), but Raiden is one of the few of them remaining.

Each trailer have 3~4 parts: 1. Main(permanent) story chapters additions -> along with permanent regions/bosses 2. Temporary (3~6 weeks) events that usually consists of minigames and a bit of interesting lore building 3. New characters (and their relevant story chapter or hangout event) 4. New mechanics. These ones are rare, like the teapot or hangout event

I still remember when version 2.0 trailer came out a year ago. I was so freaking hyped seeing the Raiden Shogun pulling the sword out of his chest and it made her went straight up to the top of my wishlist. Luckily I saved enough primogems to get her and Ayaka after grinding through Windblume until the Golden Apple event. In my opinion, she is definitely one of the best all-around character in the game, along with Zhongli. I wish you luck getting all the characters you want.

All of the festivals (Lantern Rite, Windblume, Moonchase, Irodori) are limited time as well as the events involving the mountain Dragonspine (Updates 1.2 and 2.3) and the Golden Apple Archipelago (Updates 1.6 and 2.8). (Dragonspine itself is still available though) But that doesn't mean there isn't a lot to do still. Every update adds permanent content of some kind.

For the mini-games, they are typically limited to temporary events that are optional. But the rewards for them are usually high- completing events, mini games (which are frequently puzzley or fighting, but can also involve taking pictures, playing songs, or tinkering with some kind of device), etc, usually nets you either a lot of stuff like primogems, mora, and items like a talent crown, or it can give you a permanent device or trinket to use for fun at your leisure. As an example or two, the musical instruments you can play in the game are devices earned through a musical mini game event. There’s also a net device for catching small animals to place in your home-building world (Serenitea Pot). You don’t HAVE to complete these kinds of events, but the reward for doing so is high. Also, Genshin doesn’t make you complete the event on the hardest difficulty or the most complicated version of the game to get the reward; rewards are highest for easy completion, and reduce as the difficulty goes up, so usually only completionists or people who enjoy difficulty for difficulty’s sake (the achievement of it) will go all the way on an event. Puzzles are common in Genshin, and are usually necessary to progress the story, but mini-games are usually not.

Just FYI though but most of the things shown within these trailers aren't currently playable anymore. For example the current event which gives access to a unique limited time location is going to be over in a few days and you need eligible for the event by being at a certain advanture rank and having completed certain quests previously. Also once this event is over access to this event exclusive location will be lost and won't return until next summer most likely.

While version 2.2 was a bit on the filler side compared to others, it was hype at least for some people (me) because the two prominent characters of the main event of that version were Childe and Xinyan. Prior to 2.2, Childe was absent from the plot for quite some time, and Xinyan had like one minute of screentime total, and neither of them knew the other, so seeing them both together was fun :D

Has anyone noticed that they don't seem to do weapon showcases anymore in the trailers lol They used to set aside a specific segment of the trailer to directly show new weapons. In the new trailers, they do show the 5 star weapons, and sometimes the new 4 stars (Collei had the new Sumeru bow, but Dori was using a Debate Club), but they aren't the focus of that part of the trailer. But if you look at Dragonspine, Lantern Rite, and Windblume trailers, the Dragonspine craftables, Homa, Jade Cutter, Elegy, Alley Flash, Wine and Song, Windblume Ode... All of these weapons got a dedicated slow down shot for them. Not a complaint, but I just thought it was interesting how they decided that it wasn't worth it, or they didn't have time any more to insert these bits. I do kinda miss them, but they probably have their reasons for leaving them out

You are correct in assuming by this point, there is ALOT of content in this game now. I will say if you're hoping to play through the 3.0 version content as it comes out, start progressing through the story right now. The vast majority of event content is only available during the Version it premieres in, and is often locked behind a prerequisite story quest or level cap. I myself got back into the game when 2.0 started because Raiden Shogun OMG yes please! I didn't actually get a chance to fully partake in events until 2.3 because I was so behind on the story content. Hope you have a blast progressing through this story as it continues to unfold in the months and years to come.

There is also another trailer called teyvat chapter storyline preview (I think) which is basically a preview for the entire game, including chapters that are still not out. Most of the event storylines you can't get. Some of them you'll still have, but I suggest maybe watching at least main storylines in the events you missed, there are silent recordings on KZbin. Like Unreconciled Stars, All That Glitters, Windbloom festival, first Golden Archipelago, Inazuma's festival storyline and so on since they all have important pieces of lore. Devs will put them in the game later, but it could be years until then. Most of the Dragonspine event story is in the Albedo's story quest, except for the sword storyline There is a list of events I think, so you can check which ones you missed

Queen just saying you cant go to inazuma straight away the shogun has a storm that sorrounds inazuma so everytime u try to go there by boat or swimming or even ice bridging u get teleported away😭💀 ive tried so many times when I first started playing and I had to look it up and eventually found out that it’s impossible unless you finish all the quests first! Lmaoo
