This video inspired me to purchase the Crocodile Baby 5. What a great drone. It's so fast. When I compare it to my DJI camera drone, it's just an entirely new experience. I'd even say that it's as fun to fly as my 3D heli's, and that's without the goggles. I'm using a Radio master transmitter and DJI goggles. The best part is how fast it climbs. Due to physics, there is a slight delay when trying to stop it from going down too fast or recovering from a high-speed turn - there have been some close calls. This is my first sport drone, and now I am thinking about learning some tricks.

you could replace that bulky (drag adding) Gopro screw with a socket cap screw, it requires a hex wrench but will be a much smaller profile and will create less drag. I fly speedwings and use them on my action cams, always hated how bulky those screws are. just thought you may like that idea.

In the FPV hobby we strap the GoPro mount that comes with every GoPro to the drone with zip ties. If you don’t have any, then ANAZON is your friend.

The only setup I did was created a model in my radio, bound to the drone receiver, then setup flight modes in BETAFLIGHT and that was it (all the usual stuff). Still works so it must be good.

Well, you sold me. This is now my first, and only, FPV drone.....so far. My question is GEPRC recommends 4S batteries from 650mAH to 1300mAh. I am not bothering to use an additional camera. All the 1300mAh batteries that I have found have XT60 plugs. Is it safe to use a 4S 300mAh XT60 battery on this drone and just get a XT60 female to a XT30 male adapter to power the flight?

If it is not on the website, then one does not exist. Most of us just use the DJI mount that camer with the DJI Camera and zip tie it to the drone.

Yes. Due to the chip shortage, DJI would have had to increase costs to continue production which is a poor business model in the FPV hobby, because most of us are poor :-) So DJI handed over the license to CADDX to make a "version" of the model with a different chip set.

In the word of DJI and FPV they are two types of controllers. The BLACK one, which is the true FPV controller, and the GREY one that comes with the DJI FPV DRONE. The GREY controller is not designed to work in the FPV hobby but the BLACK one is.

As per your recommendation I purchased a digital GEPRC Crocodile 5 as my first FPV drone and love it so far. I can't fly it yet but have learned to hover and move around a little using 3S batteries. I am amazed how much concentration is required just for that. I have put Crocodile 5 aside until next spring and bought a copy of Velocidrone flight sim. Hopefully I will learn the light tough for the controller from it. My question for you is when you initiate the GPS rescue with the controller do you get some indication in the DJI goggles that it is in fact on other than the drone turning in your direction if all goes right? When the drone gets close to where I am standing does touching the controller sticks turn the GPS rescue off or do you have to turn off the assigned controller switch as well. All GPS rescue drones configurations are different so what I am about to say, may not apply to yours. I never use GPS RESCUE on purpose, unless the battery in my goggles dies and I can't see where I am flying. GPS Rescue is a FAILSAFE mode of sorts, so when your drone looses connection with the controller, it should go into FAILSAFE and either fall from the sky or GPS rescue takes over and brings it back to you. Sometimes to switch it out, you only need to move the throttle and other times you need to flick the GPS rescue switch. I have had some drones where I accidentally hit the GPS rescue switch and the drone fell from the sky, so to save it, I would just hit the ARM switch and it would power back up and recover. Most drones that go into GPS rescue by themselves seem to return.

When I fly my Croc Baby 5 on LI Ion batteries The low voltage beep starts at 13.9 average volts (3.47 volts per cell). What do you do? just keep on flying it until 12 average volts (3 volts per cell) ? Sorry if its a silly question but i have never flown a long range drone like this on Li ion batteries.

All batteries are different so when you land, just check the battery on a battery checker and see the percentage remaining (you want no less than 30% remaining). This will let you know how long you can fly without worry.

I have tons of GoPro 3D printed mounts, so whenever I get a new FPV drone I just toss on any mount and either screw it down or zip tie it down. The mount in this video would probably have been one I had lying around.

Hi Steve do you use the 2 x 8mm screws to attach the props. That's all they sent me but someone told me should be 2 x 7mm screws?

I don't recall. When it comes to these drones it is just a matter of finding the screws that are slightly longer than the thickness of the props and screwing them in. If they hold tight, then you have the correct ones.

Just recently got a hero10 and I somehow thought a full gopro was too much for the croc baby 5 HD but after seeing your video I have to try. What mount did you use to attach the gopro? the original geprc mount is meant for a decased gopro and not a full size one. Finding a mount compatible with full gopro and croc 5 is harder than I thought.

I have about a hundred 3d printed mounts that I can use for pretty much any camera. For all mounts I mostly just ZIP TIE them to the drone. Sometimes I even use the GOPRO mount that came with the camera and just ZIP TIE the base onto the frame (works great!)

Honestly, in the FPV hobby today all the drones are TOPS, there are no Lemons. You just pick the size you like, and the components on it for what you plan to use it for. So you have small drones, medium drones, large drones, X-Frames, Dead Cat Frames, Digital, Analog, Pusher drones, Freestyle Drones, Race Drones, Long Range Drones, etc, etc, etc.

@@Mike-mk7qt The long distance battery is a LI-ON battery at 3000 mAh, 4S version. 30 min flight time, but limited immediate power for obvious reasons, so you sacrifice the ability to fly crazy with the ability to fly for a very long time, long range.

Wonder how much the braces help.. I don't have them on my rekon5 cause my motor mounting holes don't match up(2 holes only) . I get extremely long flights 4s 34mins 6s over 40 (going slow) but wonder if braces help with anything. Maybe smoother or something

@@discoverlost In general all drones that have 5” props will always have an XT60 battery connector. The exception is when a company builds a lightweight drone, usually for long range. In such cases they use an XT30 for smaller batteries. Also most people in the FPV hobby will have every possible battery connector adapter to use any type of battery they own no matter the connector. Amazon sells every connect you need.

Most of us in the FPV hobby either 3D print a mount or simple use the mount that came with the GoPro and zip tie it to the frame of the quad (works great).

Stiff? Out of the box it is very loose with only slight stiffness. You may be turning the wrong screw (there are two)

Google is your friend... start searching. If you are new to the hobby then you are searching for the wrong thing (i.e., something specific to your drone). You just need to search for a 3D printed Hero 9 mount. Then you zip tie it securely to your drone, or drill a few holes in the 3D mount to make it fit.

I have a ton of mounts for all types of items including GoPro cameras. I usually just zip tie them on a drone if there are no holes to screw in or the holes don't match up. GEPRC sells 3D printed mounts on their website.

@@williamzhou8141 If you know someone with a 3D printer they can make you one for whichever gopro you own. If not, buy one online (there are tons of people making selling anything you need). If you are a newbie, then my advice is to get one like what iFlight makes that allows you to change the angle of the mount to match your pilot camera.

U can see drone reflection on the ground lol.. these 5" long range drones r so great.. I get more flight time than my mavic by a lot. I can put a great camera(I remove battery thpugh) on if I don't want to use dji video. Only down side is my iNAV position hold if not great at all haha so steady still shots r harder I almost built analog version. Bought vtx too but switch to Vista to not need insta go2 or smo or gopro all the time

It must be a problem with KZbin because I never add translations. I just let KZbin do the automatic translation.

That is a question with no answer because no body knows what radio or receiver you have or what you have done so far.

@@jamiehill9578 You’ll have to watch a few vids on what to do. First you have to setup the switches on your radio for a drone (that is called setting up a model), next you have to select the external crossfire vice the internal radio transmitter, then you have to bind to the receiver.

@@jamiehill9578 power on radio and make sure crossfire lights up on transmitter. Power on drone with battery, after startup sound you have two options and only 30 seconds. Press bind button on radio. If it works, radio will ask you to update, say yes. If it does not work, do it all over, but this time press the button on the receiver, if there is one. Hopefully it works.
