@@SteveOGRock Have you done any Valeriy Stepanov? Gergo did some work with him and IMO Stepanov is deeply not recognised. Valeriy Stepanov is a multi-musician, mainly a keyboard/pianist and has played with Chick Corea on the same piano, and there is a video where he plays keys and drums at the same time..... WTF? Check out his work with Gergo and also the song "Believe In Yourself" including saxplayer Eric Marienthal and drummer Steven Williams. Think you might like it! Yeah, Gergo is a beast! Middle section reminds me of Brand X, especially the album Masques which is awesome! Phil Collins was a member but was not on that album, drummer was Chuck Bürgi and he is sooo good. Love that album, Phil Collins is my housegod though.

According to clips I've seen of Gergo I it's mostly feel - muscle memory & musicality (check out his portfolio of work) What really impresses about this & other Zildjian performances is how these amazing drummers can come into this environment with top notch musicians & very little rehearsal time & perform like that in front of a crowd of other top notch musicians - respect !!

besides of being fast, precise and virtuous, Gergo is speaking to us the whole time, in clear meaningful sentences and if you listen to it a lot of times you understand that he has incredibly short rates of insignificant phrases, like uuum, aah, yeea, maaan, know what i mean, etc, phrases everybody uses,when the speech get stuck, and translated in solo drumming it is the moment when you pull out a lick, pattern or phrase you are not thinking about but you just playing to make some seconds to overthink what happens. Gergo does NOT, his patterns result to a stringent text that is very close to lyrics or a poem, and that makes it fascinating and overwhelming ...... ;-)
