I think it's a great honour to be offered the job as England manager. As a German and as a fan of English football and the Premier League, I'm very happy for Tuchel. It would be great if Germany and England were to meet in the next final. 🤝

It is an indictment of FA coaching courses for English coaches, that the two best candidates for the England job were Spaniard and a German. Two countries where UEFA pro coaching licence cost £450 and £250 respectively. This means Spain and Germany have a huge pool of professional qualified coaches 35,000 in Spain and 55,000 in Germany because it is affordable to anyone and giving them more quality coaches. England made this course £5000 to protecting coaching roles for uneducated former players with disposable money, meaning England have a small pool of 6000 professional coaches made up mostly of people with no good formal education and that might explain why England can’t produce elite managers.

I mean, most of the best coaches have some form of playing career so not sure how that's the reason. You also haven't established a corralation between more coaches and better coaches.

@@nihlify Tuchel didn't have a successful playing career, so there's one example! Pretty sure Nagelsmann didn't either, or the fella at Brighton. Mourinho and Wenger too. It's an interesting point he makes, you do open it up to a lot more people with lower prices. I can't think of many English coaches that didn't have a lucrative playing career first. @hithere3035

The fact that the german football expert to say how positive and how passioniate Thomas Tuchel is about English football makes the appointment so much better than it is on paper. I'm English and proud, i'm a patriot, the thought of having a german manager i can see is going to rub alot of people up the wrong way, i thought maybe even myself. Ive always thought the way forward for international teams is to have a manager that is the nationality of the team because they're doing it out of passion too and not just the money. But if you look around there really isnt an England manager right now that could win the Euros or World Cup i dont think, or even get a chance at it. So i think Englands fans should get right behind the appointment, i think with the players we have, he can defiantly get the best out of them and have solutions to our stacked midfield. He has a proven track record winning big trophies and it's defiantly our biggest chance going forward to actually bring it home.

Well said, we need to adapt to how the Premier League is with English managers, and unfortunately there just isn't enough best in class at the top PL clubs or any other league at this moment With the world class quality that is in the squad right now, we need to get someone in who will nurture this squad into winning the World Cup, and hopefully Tuchel is that man

Having Jurgen Klopp building a house in Wiesbaden, close enough for Glatten/Mainz/Dortmund and whenever easy 25km to the DFB, and finally having a national team for a first first in comparison, Klopp has had not(yet), it would be funny if Thomas will make it once longer than his usual shelf life as a coach seeing Thomas and Jurgen in an x-final game. The FA must have looked at it and thinks we have the players available to win a major tournament right now and wants the best coach available to help us achieve that. If that was an Englishman, great... but sadly it wasn't. There's absolutely no guarantee that a Tuchel, Mourinho or Guardiola will bring home a trophy but logically it should you give you more chance than a Potter, Carsley or Howe considering their track records. If England do finally win a trophy then I think the FA might look at it differently and will want a long-term project with a homegrown coach but, for the moment, prioritising a first trophy since '66 and ending the 'spurs of international football' tag is more important. Personally, I don't mind that he's German as generally speaking I like Germany and find their people and their football to be similar to ours... but I am disappointed that as a footballing country we have a dearth of good English coaches as our top two leagues are so overrun with foreign owners and coaches. The pathway isn't there.

It's success for any manager to take a team to the position where we have a chance to win it. How ridiculous. Southgate's England were awful and were extremely lucky to get to semis and finals.

I really hope the first thing he does is drop Declan Rice from the team . I am sick of his sideways and backwards passing.

Danny mills suck, what do you mean by appointing a coach like Tuchel and saying he doesnt have to win anything to succeed? might as well bring Southgate back holyshit.
