I think that the people of Amsterdam, would like to have fewer tourists to the center of the city, especially within the red-light district. So if it could move to the outskirts, then this would solve problems for the city. As a Dutch person, I do not like this kind of prostitution at all. It is humiliating for the prostitutes to stand behind a window for everyone to see (not just customers) and it is easy for the pimps to control them, when they are working involuntary (human trafficking). It is something out of the past of the Netherlands, when the people were poor and sailors wanted to pay prostitution. In modern times, it should be banned. Too many coffee shops, just for tourists, to buy soft drugs, is also not nice for the neighborhood. And they are outdated as well. In modern times, everyone can buy soft drugs in their own country. Why buy them in the Netherlands? I can understand that they want to close it for foreigners.
