Stout is like Guinness. I drank a whole two litre bottle of stout plus many beers in a number of bars in Sri Lanka. I was drunk and sick all night. Thank you for tasting all the beers from Sri Lanka

I don't know about other countries, but we have 5 main types of beers in Sri Lanka. Pilsner, larger, strong, stout and flavoured. Pilsner and larger got about 4% of alcohol. They are smooth. All other beers got above 8% of alcohol. Just brief introduction to Sri Lankan beers. Stout made from roasted malt. That's why stout got darker colour than other beers. It taste like coffee or chocolate without sugar added on it.

@@DomiTravels I can't believe you didn't know what a Stout is mate. Guinness is the most famous stout in the world. My personal favorite is Lion Stout, the only export you'd find here in NYC. Try it again but not ice cold, the aroma it gives when slightly chilled is amazing! I guess you like the pale pilsner and Hefe type beers you are accustomed to in Deutschland and that's okay. I prefer pale ale's and IPAs to Larger

Stout is kinda an acquired taste, but I'd imagine if anyone loves marmite(the thick brown savoury paste that looks l like Nutella) you can easily down it. Stouts are British in origin and were the go-to beer of choice of the portside workers or porters - which the word is derived from according to google (you learn something new). I love stouts because of the intense bitter flavour. Also I am pretty sure Special Brew is brewed by Lion Brewery under license by Carlsberg group. Strange they did not give you Heinaken as it is also brewed by a Heinaken Lanka a subsidiary of Heinaken Asia Pasicifc. Not so popular or rather, I have a hard time finding them, are beer from Millers Brewery. I've only tasted it once so can't really give my opinion whether it's good or bad. Yes, you NEED to try Kassipu, Gal Arakku and Ra before you leave haha! Enjoy your stay my guy.

Stout is a tradition coming from UK. It usually implies Strong/Thick and mostly uses roasted malt. I just found out that in Stout beers it's either malt or barley is used in it.

Hey Alta, First of all thank you for the interesting clip. Lion Larger is the Beer in sri lanka. It is kind of a identity for us. I have taste more than 200 beers from Germany and few from C. Republic. If somebody need to feel the taste of German or C.Republic beer he should only drink Lion Lager while in Sri Lanka.

Interesting video! Lion beers used to be brewed in Nuwara Eliya. But since that plant wasn't able to keep up with demand, a new plant was built closer to Colombo, and in the process lost a little bit of the original character, in my opinion. Stout beers are usually enjoyed by people who like Marmite/Vegemite. If you are new to that taste, it takes some getting used to. It is best drunk from a bottle (as opposed to a can), and be served around 15°C. You may be correct; the best beer I ever had was from the Czech Republic - Pivovar Herold.

i made the software to analyses the beer taste during the shelf life of the beer for the lion about 14 years ago. Since i know the production line, i know beer is really in good quality. they filter the water to the high standard and taste the water first. then after they actually taste the product during the shelf life by keeping a beer library. lion beer is the one who make carlsberg beer in Sri Lanka, but they use carlberg beer recipe and their practices.

Good review man. Lion Stout is actually pretty amazing once you get used to the taste. It also goes better with food, especially meat. You should give it another chance. Also, beer off glass bottles taste way better than cans imo.

Stout is a beer type that is very popular in the UK. The most famous brand of Stout is Guinness which is made in Ireland. Unlike traditional beers, stout style beer uses barley that is is roasted before the brewing process and that's what result in the dark color and the bitter taste. Lion Larger : Is the best and locally accepted beer, since it's a regular 4.8% larger beer with a THICK CONSISTENCY than most of the international largers like carlsberg larger or tiger larger. It has a rich and a thick taste to it Special Brew : Is also a thick and a good beer with uncommon 8% Lion Stout : Is a ROASTED MALT, also its 8.8%. Stout is a dark beer…. Known as black beer, dunken larger etc… I have tasted the best dark beer such as Guinness, Sumi Zest, Dough, Bitter sweet which has the same taste. It’s with a strong chocolate and coffee flavor with a bitterness with a Smokey flavor into that. As I know that’s what a stout beer is.🙂 It’s completely different from other beers. I am a huge fan of stout beer…..💪💪💪

But dude.. Stout is the better for health than those 3 beer.. Lion stronge is little bit more sugar than stout.. Stout makes coffee and little taste and chill.. Strong and special brew are such a good for drink with bottle of arrack.. Lion lager is a normally working.. So, safe and travel friend... I think you got knoledge about those beers from my comment.. Lv you.. ❤🔥
