Reading your comment made me think about it. I cringed whe I saw shirtless Kylo, but why? Is it because I find disgusting a shirtless man in a movie? And then it hit me: we've seen hundreds of shirtless men movies: lot of them have Arnold and Sly, or an action hero or martial artist, and then you have sports like boxing, mma, etc, and I never noticed, I never cared. Why is this different? Why shirtless Kylo made so many of us cringe? I come to think is because is so goddamn pulled out of context, so unjustified, so obvious, almost like something Austin Powers would do, and it felt like he'd done it to try to impress this teen girl Rey and hit on her, it felt kinda pedo/sexual assault. "Ima fight you naked, young girl, avoid touching my sweaty chest, or else..."

And who was the genius who said “Let’s make the character with the name ‘Black Canary, a Black Woman? That’s not going to come across as a stupid decision!” Black Canary has one of the best outfits in comics, period. It’s simple, it’s memorable, and it invokes a sense of confidence, power, and yes, sexiness. Because - a little trivia for you - confidence is a major quality of sexiness. You have to have the ability to present an air of “I look damn good in this, and I don’t care what anyone else thinks.” This goes for men, as well. Don't forget the actress that played Alita. Like Gal, she was charming and didn't try to antagonize the audience and for that, the woke crowd tried to slander her and even shamed her body by saying that she and Alita were using it to lure in pedophiles simply because she and the character she portrays are petite. The most sexists people I have seen in this argument are the progressives because if there is one thing that they hate, it's men and woman getting along and enjoying things together. What they want is power to manipulate and skew things off to their personal favors while at the same time they do not take up the mantle of 'leaders' as they demand us to call them because the refuse to take responsibilities for their own failing, something that actual leaders do. It's over. The movie tanked and people are more interested in a blue hedgehog than what some loud mouth with blue hair wants to lecture to us.

DC has an animated show out called 'Harley Quin'. It's surprisingly good, if you like Harley Quin as a character, I'd highly recommend checking it out. It's an R rated show with modern style animation, but still has some nice callbacks to the old style. It follows Harley, Poison Ivy, and her small band of misfits she puts together as she tries to get over being left behind and forgotten by Joker. It's a funny, exciting show, but every once in a while, it cuts deep with a moment of clarity, and I swear that someone writing the script knows what it's like to love someone as toxic as the Joker.

"It's your fault for not seeing this movie that we didn't make for you in the first place!" It's like they think that somehow, supporting the entertainment industry is an obligation. I can't help but think that a lot of these crybabies need to read the Jurassic Park Novel, because it has a quote that smacks them right in the face - "Nobody NEEDS entertainment. That's not a matter for government intervention. Nobody needs to come here." - John Hammond "And entertainment has nothing to do with reality. Entertainment is antithetical to reality." - Henry Wu Why is it that they can't grasp this concept? They are effectively dancing clowns, who want to pretend that they're somehow invaluable to the world. They're only as rich and famous and as popular as WE allow them to be. They know the power the "mob" has as they've tried to use it against their "enemies". So we decide that we're indifferent to something they make...that's even worse than hating it...

Wait...you're almost 40?! I agree with every last point in this. They try blame teens when its Rated R which effectively blocks most teens. They ostracize the fans of actual Birds of Prey by making them basically side characters. Then to keep emphasizing boys and men as the problem? If it were such a good movie, wouldn't seats be filled with women? And I've said it before, how can anyone see what happened with the similar movies and think this would do well? They keep repeating the same mess with new makeup and eventually hope it'll work.
@SuperCosmicMutantSquid4 жыл бұрын
It's the same thing that happened with Ghosbusters 2016 even if it wasn't an R rated film either. The problem with both is that it never reached it's 'intended' demo, which both movies claimed were for kids or in this case, kids and teens but all the marketing was aimed at ADULTS. Even if GB2016 had toys, all the interviews, marketing and so on brought to mind that it was an adult oriented film, not so much in terms of content but in just how they movie was presented and so on. BoP has the same problem. It's made for a Deadpool audience but claims to be empowering to young girls despite the movie being rated so they can't see it by themselves. Their parents have to take them and the parents control the wallets and if they say no, so be it. It's a no. Now compare this with Sonic. Sonic is a family movie and knows it has to cater to a WIDE generation of Sonic fans. Sonic fans that have been around since that magical year of 1991 to kids who love him now. And they listened. We can thank a lot of the older fans for the design change but if you look at the marketing, they remember they still have to bring kids in. The latest marketing move they made was having a digital screen where kids could actually TALK to Sonic and it was the coolest and most heartwarming thing to see. THAT alone is going to get parents who don't care about Sonic to take their kids when they ask and for the older fans, it really does put the crew in good graces because they're not trying to openly attack or antagonize anyone. When you look at Wonder Woman and Alita, it's the same thing; all these films share the idea that attacking fans does not do anything good and they are rewarded for it, even if they don't really break records. Movies like Birds of Prey, Charlie's Angels and so on fail because they make it clear that you're not welcome. They seem to be proud of the fact that they know that a good portion of their audience will feel uncomfortable, acing as if it is needed when it's not. Captain Marvel only got through because Disney claimed that you NEEDED to see it to understand Endgame but we found out that this was not true at all. The last two Star Wars movies tanked while the Mandelorian got the fans to come back due to good writing and a creative head who cared. If these creators were really that adamant about stopping sexism and racism in films, they should stop antagonizing people and trying to guilt them into seeing their trash films. If the movie looks interesting and peaks curiosity, people will see it.If you keep spitting hate they will not come.

@bluedragon84174 жыл бұрын
@@SuperCosmicMutantSquid Yeah you bring up a good point. Since if they really wanted to stop sexism and racism. They would stop making a big deal out of the character gender or skin color, when it comes to these movies. That and stop marketing themselves in such awful ways, that give the middle finger to a viewer who might want to see them. Since how do they believe, they are going to make money by making it clear over and over again, you are not welcome or this movie is not for you? Since that sound like awful marketing. Since even if i wanted to give the movie a chance, all they did was tell me jack about the film and spend more time saying how it's not for me, rather than giving me any information about the plot, story or characters.
