Basically. Lots of comics are fanfic stuff. _Especially on the manga aisle._ There _is_ an audience for that, and it's better to see it done in one-off side projects like this than the main continuity titles (if we had a choice, that is). I disagree with JSG about the art, too. It's absolutely not my thing, but for this kind of material it's ideal; it looks just like so much homoerotic fan art on the interweb.

Nah, I wouldn't say "high school". The person's got obvious talent but I'd say they need to choose a different coloring method because the watercolor is very drab. They also need to work on their faces because the main characters suffer a LOT from sameface while the bullies have a higher diverse facial range. Certain Asian and African subgroups DO share some similarities in physical features, but then again, so do some Asian and Caucasian subgroups, or some African and Caucasian subgroups. When it comes to artwork, however, it becomes a bit more subjective, since the artist may have subconsciously inserted some similarities to another race into the drawings. But really, saying "Blacks and Asians share a lot of common physical features" is inaccurate.

That's....pretty on the ball. I know even saying this is stereotyping but you can TELL how a book is aimed at a primary demo by the way it's written and drawn and yes....yes, this feels and looks like it's written more for straight women than gay men and I say this as a woman myself considering this type of 'art' is always used for YA and 'girl themed' stuff. Soft, watery colors, the main characters are made as attractive as possible FOR WOMEN and the way the writing is easily digestible akin to something like Twilight and other similar books. But that really does seem to be the norm of so many so-called progressive books. I noticed this back when yaoi was the hot shit back in the early 2000s but it really kind of hit me recently because it was like a snap of de ja vu. I remembered all of this from publishers like Tokyo Pop and how they would advertise their yaoi books and again, it was for girls, not BOYS and straight girls most of all because there was always that side hop that 'Oh, maybe he'll be bi just for me an I can still fuck him!' So if anything, progressives are just those annoying yaoi fan girls who never grew up and became more annoying who think all gay men are their uke and seme dreams.

As someone who has been personally attacked as "homophobic" by fujioshis over the years because I don't find gay stories appealing, I can safely say this only appeals to the fujioshis and no one else. The boys look weirdly drawn and not in any way remotely close to what I, a straight woman, likes to see in men. Everything is centered around Aquanot being gay, which doesnt interest me story wise. (I read dumb romance novels written like the person only just now learned how to write English, my standards are Not that high.) And its changing the entirety of an established character for the sake of "woke points☆". (Its all fake and done for visuals only. There's no substance to these sorts. I make my own as well. I had one where the main JL Heroes and LoD Villains are turned to crystals and it's up to Zatanna, Animal Man, Miss Martian, Scarescrow and my OC to save them BUT they also get the powers of the main JLH and LoD. Scarecrow gets a green Lantern Ring instead of a Yellow lantern one and has to learn from my OC who managed to get a yellow lantern ring. The two work together to not only get the others back but also to make Scarecrow earn the Yellow Lantern ring and eventually become a hero like Batman. I know my shit is crak headed but at least it makes the powers not onl relevent but nessesary and there is a reason he goes through all that change. Plus this aint never gonna be published so I can be mc-fucking wild too.

When I was eight I drew my first ever comic, a Superhero comic called "Poo Man" It was literally a piece if shit in a cape, The main villain was a brain with glasses called "Brain Burgle Boy Type Thing" (idk I was 8, I'm surprised I remember it 21 years later. The entire story was on a single page crudely coloured in with felt tip pens, I was so proud of it I covered the whole page in selotape and have kept it ever since. I don't know why I brought this up.
