In 2) part ....are planning...cannot be taken as finite verb together. Here are is finite because it tells the tense and planning is non finite because it will not change.

Really an amazing teacher! I wish you'd have given more examples on the last point because most of students get confused there. They are not able to connect adjective with noun when there are a couple of words between them. Thank you!
@TheMindspringsEnglishTeacher3 жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful! A very simple way to find out is to see if your -ing word is a gerund (noun) is to find out if it has its own verb. Trolling on the net got Mohan arrested. Does trolling have its verb? yes. Trolling got him arrested. (got) Trolling on the net. (something) Trolling on the net, Mohan was arrested. Does trolling have its own verb? No. 'was arrested' is the verb belongs to its subject Mohan. So it is not a gerund. It is a participle. Expand it, and you get: Mohan (who was trolling on the net), got arrested. adjectival clause. I will do a video on just this in a bit.

Miss can you make one video of Gerunds and present participles.. This is my humble request to you miss. And their uses like object of the verb, subject,etc...
@TheMindspringsEnglishTeacher4 жыл бұрын
Take your verb and ask the question what is? (subject) or verb what? (object) either way you will get something as your answer. Dancing was her passion. What was? something = dancing (subject) Her passion was dancing (Don't confuse with present continuous tense of She was dancing ) Her passion was what? Her passion was something - dancing = (object) I can also say her passion was to dance. I can substitute with Her passion was chess/clothes/films (all noun objects)

Will past participle work as imposter? And what are perfect participle? How to change any sentence into perfect participle?
@TheMindspringsEnglishTeacher2 жыл бұрын
Yes it can. It looks like the past tense but it won't have a subject. It will do the work of an adjective. e.g. The frozen lake was glittering. Tired from his work, the man slept. You will find the past participles have no subject. Perfect participle can be made by putting a present participle before a past participle. Having taken, Being shocked, Feeling tired are examples of completed action that will always be followed by a simple or passive past tense. Being shocked, they stood still.
