By the way, even though I just posted about "loft creep" I do find your videos very helpful. I've rebuilding my swing after some time away from the game. I have taken some cues from your videos and it has helped. In my previous post I was mearly trying explain why distances are so much greater today. If I gave you a 7 iron from the 1980s you would probably only get about 165 or 170 out of it. But, that would be maximized because of your incredibly good swing

Here is something I have been working on. You may like this and I haven't used it enough to give a full benefit report so bare this in mind. I too have been working on standing closer to the ball since I tend to stand tall to the ball. Now I did this practice move to learn to throw the club not only at the ball, but through the ball. Take you trail hand and put it with the palm against the grip like you are going to slap the ball with your open hand. Left/lead hand is in a normal grip position. take a swing and just throw the club with the trail hand or slap the ball in the direction you want it to go. I tend to get more wrist cock and release with the club. This motion also gets me to "flip" the club through the ball with more speed. Haven't hit many shots doing this but just wanted to throw it out there. Once you get the feeling of the throw, then you can take a regular grip and see what happens.

Hi Christo I agree with standing closer to the ball as it prevents chasing after the ball; swaying; and allows the turning the corner (in a barrel) to take place. However for clarification when you tell us to pull the handle inside than up: Doesn’t the word up mean turning your shoulders as opposed to lifting the handle up with the hands and arms? The difference is important because lifting the club up with the hands and arm causes our trail elbow to point away from our trail hip as well as stoping the coiling of our body. Would you agree? Cheers 😊🥂👍.

I was wondering if you had the data on your ball speed for the seven and six irons. Considering how lofts have changed relative to club number over the last 25 years, is it really accurate to say you've "never hit a 6 iron 200" in your life? I mean, what is the loft of that 6i your using? I play Titleist 690mbs and my 6i is at 32 degrees loft. On a warm day, I can hit it out to around 150 -155 but I've noticed that a modern day 6i is lofted like an older school 4i. When did this happen ? I don't follow golf trends nor am I interested in getting the "latest and greatest" in golf clubs. Never have but when did the industry began to shuffle irons toward stronger lofts? I mean, when tells me they're hitting a 6i 200 yards, that's a 4i to my eyes.

For those of you who have asking it's called "loft creep". Over the years manufacturers, in an effort to make their club hit the ball longer, started making lifts stronger. As a general rule, today, a 7 iron is roughly equal to a 5 iron from 30 years ago. They basically took a 5 iron and stamped a 7 on it instead of a 5. That's why 3 irons basically no longer exist. If you can find a 3 iron today it is basically a 1 iron from 30 years ago. And not even God can hit a 1 iron.
@MiracleSwingExperience

Not only are the lofts on your irons 5* jacked, but you’re hitting in Arizona or something from the looks of the mountain in the background. Come down here to sea level in Florida when the humidity is 87%. Your yardages will be insanely less. Anyway, it’s like when you go to a fitting. They always want you to “Get A Baseline” with your own club by hitting the first 5 balls with “your own” club. Then by swing #30 you’re hitting EVERYTHING 20 yards further, probably a little control as well. Good luck

I'm in Altadena, 1100 feet above sea level. I'm 15 miles from the ocean in Santa Monica. Yes, the TaylorMade irons have strong lofts. They've been like this for years. Yes, FL has a lot of humidity. I'm from Tampa. So after all of that, why does it bother you that I'm sharing something really important that's giving me 15 extra yards? Have you even tried it?

It has nothing to do with standing closer. You're swinging P790's and their lofts are jacked. A 7-iron P790 has 30.5 degrees of loft so that's basically a normal 6-iron. Stop being so dishonest.

It amazes how triggered folks like you get from me sharing something that can help you hit it further. When I got the p790’s I was shocked I could hit a 7 iron 180. I hit my blade 7 iron 165. Now, I’m close to 200. How am I being dishonest?
