the Turkoman: Bonding with this horse in the staple still works after the latest update (on xbox One S as of 19.08.2021). And this beautiful "character horse" is a true luckshot. I took this horse in all of my playthroughs and ended up on the most nervous breed as well as on the most courageous breed. It's really "random" what you get. In my previous playthrough this horse bucked me off when a leaf fell off a tree, really... it did the annoying headshake (characteristic for Turkoman) all the time, protested whenever possible, was gunshy as hell and dropped me in the dirt on every occasion. I hated him, sold him to the fence and moved on. In my current playthrough, the same horse is the exact opposite. First thing he did was running over a rattlesnake and a deer, killing both, on my way to the staple. Next thing he did on bonding 2 was killing some Lemoyne Raiders (the horse, not me). I ran him straight into a camp to see how he acts, he stayed very calm and controllable. On bonding 4 he tramples snakes, ignores panthers and cougars, and somehow he really likes to run over people... extremely brave horse with an agressive nature to it and I love it. It's a luckshot and you never know what you get from this horse. A true character..

Just a tip: Follow the instructions on the video exactly and bond with the horse before approaching the stable hand (other videos say do this later but it has less of a chance of working.) If you fail the mission (which is easy to do because the calming the horse portion of the mission is glitched about half the time), the horse will remain bonded to you, unlike the other methods.

I have yet to try this with these horses (I don't know if you can mount them this early in the mission,) but the fastest way to increase your bond with any horse is to repeatedly hitch the horse to something like a hitching post, tree, the ground, etc. Hitch, mount, hitch, mount, hitch, mount, etc. Hitching provides the highest number of bonding points out of any of the bonding activities.

@@iam_StillSamurai You can only have one main horse and one secondary horse at the time, so if you bond with the black arabian for example and they the white one, you'll se the black one becoming "untamed" again. Would have been nice to be able to get the 3 in one go for sure though haha

One detail I like in this game is that the Braithwaite stallions are the same type of horses as the foundation sires of the thoroughbred breed: two Arabians and a Turkoman. So Mr Gray wasn't entirely lying when he referred to them as thoroughbreds.

Still works 23/1/2022!! Thanks so much! Totally worked for me and got my Turkoman. Before this mission, I made sure I stocked up with all the Horse provisions so got in the back like you mention at 1:02 then fed him multiple times so within 3-4 minutes, the notification for Bonding 1 came out but waited til the mini map icon came up so Thanks for that otherwise I would’ve left too early lol. Like someone mentioned earlier, Turkoman spawned back at the Braithwaite mansion so pretended to tell the guards I was on my way to see Catherine and as I was just inside the gates past the guard, I whistled for the Turkoman and soon as I seen it galloping back, I turned and galloped back out to the main gate and no one chased us so stabled it then saddled it up and now he’s my fave horse 👍🏾👍🏾.

i discovered a trick to make it even easier, once you bond with the horse and you kill the stable hand and begin to make your getaway, fail the mission and restart from checkpoint and you’ll notice the horse has duplicated. the horse you bonded with is now duplicated and has the breathewate logo removed already so it’s rideable and ready for saddle/stable. you complete the mission like normal and you can choose to ride either your new duplicated horse which i recommend or your normal horse but make sure you whistle for it to follow and once the mission is done it will be waiting there ready for a saddle

I did the method the video recommended, and as we were approaching the horse fence the turkoman horse (the one i bonded with stopped) and then javier was like "one of the horses escaped!" And i thought he meant the turkoman, so i just continued and the mission falied, and then the dupe happened accidentally 😂

Still works. This specific guide was helpful because on my first attempt before watching this guide, the Turk fled from me and ran right next to the fence brothers. Then on the second try I managed to keep the Turk by me but I didn't feed past the bonding message until the horse icon came up on the minimap, so I failed. On this try I followed this guide and it worked perfectly.

If not, maybe go back to the mansion, as close as possible and whistle. Other than that, are you sure you bonded enough with him?

It still works but fyi using sweets like peppermints or sugar cubes works like 4x as fast as carrots or hay. Also if you already have the trinket that improves bonding by 10% so those two things matter. Lastly, after you get out the stable make sure you start a camp, and save. Then reload. I had issues until I did that step

13 April 2022 and still works. The only thing I struggled with for a couple of minutes was inability to right mouse click (PC) to access regular horse menu - the one in bottom right. But as video shows, opening the inventory wheel and giving snacks does the trick. I found Turkoman to be easy to brush right after a sugar cube or peppermint as it was calming for a second or two. A small tip (from someone on YT I'm not remember): Feed the horse with mint will give you more bouding than any other food. That's work for me I feed the horse with 3 mint and 2 sugar and done, thats save lots of time. Good luck

This is, by far, the easiest method to obtain a rare horse early; I kept trying over and over to get the Missouri Fox Trotter with Albert Mason quest and the Face Rock glitch and I failed miserably, plus, I didn’t really like that horse, while this Turkoman looks majestic. Thanks!

Oh yeah, this one is quite straightforward, i like to do the MFT in chapter 2 as I spend a lot of time in that chapter, then get a Turko in chapter 3, it's a great horse and it does look more majestic haha it's a tall horse!

That Missouri Fox glitch still works on the Albert Mason picture the secret is to put a cart in the path of the horses and use Albert's horse while you make yours stay exit cut scene quick hop on your horse and book it over the hill. Just done it yesterday for the first time

quick tip if you want to keep the B Brand on the horse go to the Saint Denis stables u can just walk straight in and saddle up

If anybody is having a hard time not being able to pat and calm the horse like I just was, hold L1 and go to the horse option and you should be able to feed the horse and bond that way. It’s how I got the Turkoman since I already had the Ehite Arabian since ch2

Worked like a charm for me on 10/06/21. I used peppermint to bond it much quicker. Only took like 6 or so. I wasn't counting because I thought it was going to take much longer but it wasn't more than 6. Read somewhere else that peppermint bonds your horse much more quickly. Now, I got me an Arabian boah. I don't care what anyone says about Arabians. They level up faster and once you get it to 4, they are not anymore skittish than any other horse. They're fast, great acceleration and they are gorgeous horses.

There’s actually another way to do this, when you get to the brothers with the horses to sell them, just before you initiate the cutscene/interaction of selling spam the feed/brush/pat with the horse you want to keep until you reach level 1 bonding then let the cutscene play out. After the mission you’re back at camp and can go get the horse 👍🏻

You can get the Dark Bay Turkoman from this mission or you can get a Silver Dapple Pinto Missouri Foxtrotter from a stranger quest (although it’s a pain in the ass). Other than that, you have to wait until you can buy good horses from stables

It seems bonding changes with what you feed the horses! I fed the Turko an oatcake, an apple, a sugar cube then two wild carrots, brushed it twice and then the icon appeared. Took less than a minute! Bugger was trying to boot me in the face and wouldn't eat or let me brush him for a bit though!

Hey yeah you're right, depending what you feed them impacts the speed you bound with them but I don't know the exact science, and if you're broke you can pat them for a while haha. Oh the turko kicked me twice without any remorse, you can see in the video my hat on the ground, i could not dare grabbing it back fearing another kick from the turkoman haha

Oh from that mission you can only get one im pretty sure. The only way to have 3 horses at the same time, for hunting purposes for example, is to have your main horse with your saddle on, your second horse with a bounding level of 1 at least and a third horse not bonded but broken that you can lead with the lasso.

20/12/2021. still works feed with L1, stick with it, just adjust your position until it works. complete mission. my Turk respawned at the fence. couldnt put the saddle on, took it to the stable and got it saddled up, no issues. thanks for this glitch, great way to stick it to rockstar, spend time patching glitches but wont gives us DLC to force us to play online.

if you are going for this glitch, take the Dark Bay Turkoman. You can get Arabians with other methods and the Turkoman is among the best horses you can get, far surperior to any Arabian. In general, to all the people who still think Arabians are "best" because they are fast: Speed does not matter AT ALL in Storymode.

True, the only difference with arabian is the superior handling, which can be useful for the dry dash in horseman challenge but even then not much of a difference. People go to the Braithwaite Arabians are they are stallions and want to hear Arthur say boah hahaa

Agreed. I like the Turkomans a lot, and the Dark Bay is a more rare color... You can get the gold Turkoman from a Stable... but the Dark Bay this early, is awesome.

Just did this last night (Aug 3, 2024; PS4/5) and it still works! Thought I was going to run out of things to feed the Turkoman before he would bond to me, but he eventually did (strange animations happened when I was on his right side-wouldn't show the full animation for feeding-but when I shifted to the left, it went back to normal). Also thought I might glitch the game out when I whistled for my horse to come get me while lassoing the Black Arabian, and here comes the Turkoman trotting my way, too, with the lead rein still "tethering" him back with the others, pulling into infinity space ☠️💦🤣 Thankfully, all worked out well...!

It worked like how the video showed (where the "gameplay"/story paused until you snuck back out of the window). Maybe the party got to close? Or were too far? Or else the game just glitched and refused to allow the cheat... 😅🤣 Hopefully you can try again! The Turkoman is absolutely worth the effort!

Still working (PS4) as of Dec. 11, 2021. However it spawned back at Braithwaite stables. The guards will shoot at you but even if you die the horse will still be there, just ride past the stables quickly and whistle for it, it will run out and follow you.

This happened to me as well. Pretended to go do the Hosea mission but whistled just past the gates and as soon as I’d seen the Turkoman icon gallop towards me, I headed straight back to the gates and outta there.

Happy new year from Australia! UPDATE: Tried to take black arabian to stable and had it kicked me out saying 'cannot stable this horse'. Went to Saint Denis and tried there with the same kick. Saved game, loaded save and it let me stable the horse and ride it but the 'B' on it's bum is removed. Still, happy i got it in the end. :)

works! thank you. i thought they patched, but i just stood next to the horse and went on the wheel actions>horse tab. i think i had a talisman/trinket where it took like 1 scrub, 2 oatscake, and a pat or two then it was bond level 1. turko horse for the win. a war/race will trst how it reacts with a cougar chasing hahaha

Bonded with the Turkomen, shot him in the head by accident while running away from the stables. I retried the checkpoint which was right there, and apparently he was still bonded. After the mission ended, I couldn't find him at that location but rather back at the Braithwaits, in front of the stables. Funny

At first I didn't think this works because you can't focus on or mount the horse. But you can feed it by using the horse item wheel even though the animation doesn't play when you do. Works.

I got a 2nd Black Arabian in Ch 3 by the post office and general store in St Denis similar situation to the one by the Dominoes game,.. anyone else got that? I haven’t seen any videos about getting the black Arabian that way

I don't know aobut the other horses but for the Dark Bay Turkoman you only need to feed it about 8 sugar cubes/peppermint (bought from any stable) ti get the horsebonding notification and 1 more to confirm. So total 9 sugar cubes/peppermint needed. PS: 1. I made the mistake of getting rid of all my other hores food, which you don't need to do because you have to manually choose what food to give to the horse 2. If you don't know what sugar cube/peppermint does, they're the only foods in the game that you can feed to horses that will give you +5 horse bonding points everytime

I tried this for the black Arabian in 2023 on ps5 and it doesn’t work, you get the temporary horse but you can’t put a saddle on him or take inside of the stables 😢

Happy to report this is still working as of today on PS. Turkoman is goat! After retrieving the Turkoman was unable to saddle up as the main horse. Save your game, exit to menu and reload. Thank you good sir for the awesome tip!
