I’m in the middle of building a 30 gallon planted cube community aquarium so thinking I’m going to go this gourami route. Can’t take the chance of getting more than 1 in case of aggression.

Between the Blood Parrot Cichlid and the Polar Parrot Cichlid, which one is more intelligent, interactive, bonds with owner, active, personality?

I have a 5G tank sitting empty, got plenty of small dragon stones, black wood pieces and tropica and ada sands and hang-on filter .. is it ok to aquascape it with plants and only keep ONE small gourami in it?

Maybe an honey gourami, but it is really stretching it :( Ideally you should really go for something a little bigger

@@diogoalfaia3238 I was at my local store today to buy some gravel and they had few gouramis in and one of them was blue with tiger red stripes; I bought it. I'm planning to buy a gurami but after i read your comment I'll start to think twice 😩
@davidliming94197 ай бұрын
You should have mentioned dwarf gourami disease. Some estimate up to 50% are effected and will likely die within 6 months of purchase. Too bad, as they are beautiful fish.

Yeah I mentioned this in my experience / care video I did. Was trying to focus on the positives in this video. I agree it is an important thing to be aware of when thinking about purchasing one

Great info. Thanx. I haven’t had a gourami since my first tank 45 years ago! I would love to add to add one to my new build.

Thank you! I'm glad to hear yours is doing well. The main two you see in most of my older videos grew larger than any other adult I've had so the ones you have are probably similar to the adults I have these days

Is the dude on 0:55 compatible with rasbora brigittae, celestial pearl Danio and cherry shrimp? Or it all comes down to individual personality? For a heavily planted 20 gallon, would look amazing as a centerpiece
@TheAquaticCoder6 ай бұрын
The cherry shrimp likely won't work. You might get a Dwarf Gourami that is alright with shrimp but it looks like the general thought is that they will see them as food. The other fish should be fine if they are full grown and the Gourami you get isn't super mean (just individual luck on that)

Good video. I'm considering getting 1 female gourami. I was wondering whether the powder blue female or a honey female? Which would be more peaceful? community tank, 20 gal long. Platies, leopard danios and cory catfish. Thank you.
@TheAquaticCoder4 ай бұрын
Females are known to be more peaceful so either should be fine. In general I've heard that honey's are more likely to be peaceful but it shouldn't matter as much for a female.

Can a heavily planted 5 gallon work ?
@TheAquaticCoder6 ай бұрын
I'd really recommend a 10 gallon for their comfort. It would probably work if you do water changes often enough. But they'll be much happier with a 10 gallon
@MeadeSkeltonMusic6 ай бұрын
@@TheAquaticCoder ok it seems like frequent water changes actually disturb things. When I leave my fish tank alone, my fish do fine, but when I do all the stuff they tell me I should do, my fish end up dying.

@TheAquaticCoder6 ай бұрын
Yes they are and you can likely keep multiple of them. They are rarely sold in stores since they are not as colorful. You can usually find them online though. The red female dwarf gourami still looks pretty good imo

@TheAquaticCoder6 ай бұрын
I have not kept shrimp yet personally. But in general Dwarf Gourami's are not recommended to go with shrimp for that reason
@diogoalfaia32383 ай бұрын
Amanos are generally too big to be messed with, but they'll certainly eat baby neocaridinas and may attack adults too.
