Thanks for watching. This trimmer was barely used before it was put away for a long storage. Now it will not start. Of course the usual problem is the carburetor but we have to still look at the rest of the engine to make sure its not the only problem.

I wish you lived nearby! I live in a small town and service is hard to come by. I would be happy to pay you. I have a Husqvarna 124C. I tried most of what you suggest last summer. Failed. But no doubt I missed something. With this video, I will start over. This is an old tool but with only a few hours so I assume it will work once I get carburation problems resolved. Thanks for the great video.

I have that same trimmer and the 125b blower. The first few years I had them I never emptied the gas before winter storage. After doing this a few years they stopped running. I looked in the gas tank and the fuel filter had came loose from the fuel line. And the fuel lines were soft and brittle. I has to clean the carb because they got debris in them.I have had to change the fuel lines on both of them a few times. This last time I changed them I used those yellow fuel lines that are supposed to be able to withstand ethanol better. Hopefully they last longer this time.

stiff fuel lines are good clues that modern car gasoline was in the device. Only ethanol-free gas with correct % of synthetic oil is to be used. Fuel lines at a repair shop are under $1 a foot, so get plenty. I lube the line tip with a touch of WD40 so it will go on the fitting easier. I use carb cleaner on the outside of a fuel filter to help it if is is fairly clean, but they are cheap to buy.

@@HomeGaragechannel the new husqvarna 525L is a beast. I have one and nothing green and growing can stop it. I mean outside of wood stemmed growth and brush. If it is grass even three feet tall and shorter it will eat it like a snack and want more at full throttle. But it still operates very good even at lower rpms. It's a beast when you need to be but it's tame as a house cat when going around flower beds and delicate areas of your landscape.

If you don’t mind me asking, where do you find the information about where the card H and L adjustment screws are located for various small engines? Just bought a new house and my grandfather had one of these weed eaters sitting in his shop. He was kind enough to give it to me. I tried everything to get it running that I knew how and determined it was a carb problem. I’m young and have never had to deal with it before so I didn’t know how to make any adjustments save for the idle speed screw. This video cleared it up for me. Big thanks, loved the content.

If its been a long time since it ran I would suggest replacing the carb. Theres a chance that you don't have to adjust the new carb. Oh the screws are pretty obvious when you have the carb in your hands.

Great repair she sounds great. Everything in my shed gets drained dry including primer then cranked until it won't fire on choke just in case there is some fuel in the filter, fuel lines or carburetor. Even my son's little homelite trimmer gets this treatment. Everything I have in the shed runs at the top of its game when I put fuel in it for the next season. Also I take the mufflers off and take a torch to the inside until the whole muffler glows orange. Sure fire way to make sure there is no carbon and that it flows like new.

If I have fuel left over at the end of the season, whether it's inside the tank or inside the gas container I use to fill with, I add a product called Sta-Bil that I get from my local automotive center. Once added to the tank, I run it for a bit to let the product get inside the engine before shutting down. If I realize that I'm using the weed eater for the last couple of times in the mowing season, I'll usually add Sta-Bil during these last couple of runs to insure it's fully inside the engine. This product seems to be nothing more than an extra oily additive that protects the carb and inner workings of the engine from gasoline breakdown during storage. Using it, has not failed me ....yet.

A tip for keeping the metering diaphragm from losing it’s flexibility during storage…drain gas out of tank and put 100% 2 cycle oil in tank..enough for filter to pick it up and using purge bulb cycle it through carb…after storage drain what’s in tank and fill with the normal 2 cycle fuel mix and again purge fuel through carb …it will smoke more than normal initially but will burn off the small amount of excess oil rather quickly…this keeps internal carb components from drying out.

I love this channel! My dad has an old weedeater brand trimmer that i recently fixed. The problem was that the meetering diaphram was petrified and was missing the gaskits for where the carb attaches so it was leaking fuel. I did get it working but the only problem is the trimmer head wont stop spinning even i ajusted it to idle at a lower rpm. If i go to low, the engine will shut off. Do yoy know how to fix this? If you do know, that would be AMAZING. I love your videos, i watch them all the time!😀

typically when there's not enough oil in the gasoline, the piston rings will get damaged and once that happens, the engine is less likely to start again.

Its easier just to rub them once every 2 months or so. Plus non ethanol gas. 0 problems.

Try replacing the gas cap. It's seems to not be venting enough air.

@@josephmateo9402 hmm.. after it dies can you test and make sure it still has spark? If it still has spark then it must be a fuel issue that's why I went with the cap. Time to replace the carb

I have an 128r, stored it fo winter two times, once half tank, once full tank. It started up both times no problems. Im not using any special fuel, regular pump gas has around 10% ethanol were i live. You really must have shitty fuel in the States.
