Your HP and gas mileage numbers are wrong. 84 hp and over 50 mpg, and no Bluetooth. Please check your research. Suzuki got slandered on this review. You should delete the review and start over... Wow.

36 mpg was misprint and misspoke. It gets much better than that. The 800DE version which has arguably more drag gets much better.

It would have been nice if the review was a whole lot clearer on the differences between this and the base bike. Are the preload adjustments something new, is the adjustable windshield different? Or did they just throw the top case on and call it a tourer? The Canadian Suzuki website shows this bike coming with side bags, not the top case, although I’m sure you could get the top case for a little extra. And as others have mentioned, no cruise control??? For me, keep your quickshifter and give me my CC.

I am pretty sure the only difference, in the US anyway, is the color, the top case, and the handguards.

Two dealers in my area still have these waiting on the recall. They will sell it to you, but you can't take delivery until the tires come in.

Those are only the 800DE. The 800 and 800 Touring are not part of that tire recall.

You can get more correct information from the brochure than this guy. MPG, wrong HP, wrong Bluetooth, wrong I bought the standard Vstrom 800. Couldn’t see paying $900 more for a tail trunk, plastic hand guards and gloss black color. At the time of purchase the 800 comes with green and the touring with gloss black. Real happy with my purchase, but finding out that even though the DE uses the same platform, there’s a lot of aftermarket parts for the DE that won’t fit the standard 800 and I’m sure won’t fit the touring. So far it’s been the center stand, which I had to buy through the dealer, hand guards specifically for the DE, skid plate, crash bars and accessory bar for adding lights. So far all of that can only be purchased through a dealer at a premium price. No matter what model you end up with, theirs a noticeable vibration at 5,000 rpm which is about 70 mpg and somewhat diminishes after 6,000. A little annoying, but not a deal breaker.

Agreed, 36 mpg is pretty poor but I guess your FXR wasn't trying to meet Euro 5+ emissions regs. I doubt it had to meet any back then lol! I've also had way more out of this engine. They're definitely hammering it.

My admittedly 50lb. lighter GSX 8S has returned mileage in the 57mpg range for 90% of its first 3000 miles but typically quoted mileage from reviewers is far less. Quoted mileage could be a typo but more than likely this motor just responds poorly (economically) to a heavy throttle hand. Additionally lower than mfg. claimed HP numbers are likely dyno measured figures and would fall in the range of dyno results I've seen. Considering this is only a "rundown" it's probably best to wait for a more in depth full review to draw any actual performance impressions from.
