I’m happy they can bring their animals. I know people often choose to stay on the streets because they will be separated from their animals or even partners if the shelter is only for women or men. I feel that if someone found something that makes them happy and it’s not going to hurt anything, let them be happy. If you take away everything they have, you cannot expect them to have the motivation to do what it takes to get out of that life. I feel like a good amount of people who are homeless are that way because they want to live their life on their own terms and something came and made that impossible. I think people get addicted to drugs because they don’t know how else to feel positive emotions. If you’re happy and life is perfect, your not going to feel the need to use drugs or whatever because you already feel whatever they can make you feel. So if you’re homeless and all you can do to get happy is drugs or animals or anything, then as a society, we need to try to help them instead of punishing them just because they try to sleep where people can see them. If people can’t mind their own business and they can’t get past their own feelings of seeing someone homeless, then actually do something helpful because just complaining about it doesn’t actually do anything. The people who got this shelter going understands that in my opinion.

Lets hope this is just the beginning. Its about time that we have a non-religious shelter in our area. But will they recive further help ? Will they be given an opportunity for inclusion or lock down in the end ?? We'll see Modesto.
