Nice! A useful tip to speed things up - In your acquisition software set the file naming scheme to use the Winjupos format, then when you create a stack keep the naming (if you're using R,G and B filters name G if you take that in the middle). When you load the stack into Winjupos it will recognise the data in the file name so you don't need to enter time and date etc...

How ironic this video should show up, it was only yesterday I tried WinJupos for the first time myself (not that I was expecting much with the shoddy data I was using 😆) ...the one part I did get hung up for a while on was the 'T' in the timestamp hh:mm:T, all I seemed to uncover from Google was that it was maybe a zone designator? But couldnt for the life of me find out what I should input here...I left it at 0 🤷🏻‍♂️ .... I've checked the lil box in my capture software to save winjupos compatible file names for my next session so hopefully this'll make the process a bit smoother 😁 Still curious what that T should be though 🤔 Love your work and another very helpful video, thanks! 😎👌🏻

One question that I probably missed but am too lazy to watch the vid again, did you stack your Jupiter data from avi, or did you just take individual tif. photos of Jupiter? I haven't read all comments, so someone might have already told you... to avoid artifacts on the edge of the planet, just reduce de "LD value" to something like 0.65. You can either do it on the "Adj" tab, so it applies to all frames as you work with them, or in the de-rotate tool individually changing their values.

ok so this is a recent video obviously with the ntz storm. i found the second one before anyone else mentioned it in cloudy nights . I have a 16 inch f7 and im using an asi 224 adc corres=ctor and 2x barlow i have some nice mars images you can see them on my f book page or cloudynights moonwatching ferret. one question I have is i have been capturing 300 seconds on a 400 roi thinking rotation would not cause blurring. some of my ser files are 4 min. I am thinking i can drop it down to 120sec i should still get way over 20,000 frames i get that with Jupiter on 800x 800 in 120sec. I was wondering if i can de rotate one image or dr=e rotate the ser file ? the imagen=s came out awesome but there can be some blurring i suppose

at about time 1:14, you show the imaging train. If it's the same as the 9.25, the T adapter for EdgeHD is 91mm. So for EdgeHD 9.25, thats 146mm backfocus - 91mm = 55mm to the sensor. (that would be similar to your SCT) I understand the televue powermate doesn't affect that distance but I would have thought the camera, filter & spacers exceed the 55 without the copper coloured tube. So two questions. 1) what is the copper coloured tube ? (guessing some form of M42 to 1 1/2" eyepiece adapter) and 2) How did you work out the backfocus distance you are using? (SCT up to the sensor)

Hey Dylan, I understand making sure the back focus is right for most imaging applications but I don't bother for planetary as I think when I'm imaging on such a small area of the sensor, flat field is less critical, but now I'm having doubts. Hi? Can I use the Winjupos program to calibrate the moon’s field rotation phenomenon?

hey ive been trying to take good photos of the planets through my celestron powerseeker 127eq through my phone using nightcap app on the app store and when i turn down the exposure and iso i cant see the bands why is that? is it because im not zoomed in enough cause im just using 12mm for my videos.

I noticed the Moon was on the list of possible celestial objects. Could this program be used to "undo" lunar libration?

Mars rotates slower so i I think you could get away with 10 mins for a single frame if you really pushed it.

Winjupos does take a little bit to get used to, but it has made huge differences in my planetary imaging. I was able to use 20 minutes (10x2mins) of data of Mars, it certainly helped pull out better details and keep the noise at a reasonable level. Here's a comparison between a single video (stacked 5300 frames out of 17000), vs a derotated image: imgur.com/gallery/Y6fl0Wh

I assume if they are all relative (eg all start or all end) then you’ll be fine.

I'm fairly new to this and made a 1 Hour time lapse GIF of Jupiter the other day. I messed up somewhere in processing, because there is a wobble to it (I think Earth's rotation). What do you use to correct this?
@DylanODonnell
@DylanODonnell 3 жыл бұрын
I use auto align in firecapture so they’re all in the same place. Also make sure your camera doesn’t slip.. also winjupos corrects the alignment :)

@@DylanODonnell Thank you for the fast reply. This was my first time trying a lapse, the seeing conditions weren't the best (Florida in Summer), but it was the first clear night in a while. photos.app.goo.gl/MfxeCXh5eMRUYbtV9

Ahh I see. You’re using an alt-az Mount. Winjupos will correct this but using an equatorial mount stops the frame from rotating from frame to frame :) or use a wedge so your alt-az acts like an equatorial Mount.

@@DylanODonnell Probably should have mentioned that... I do have an EQ as well. but didn't feel like setting it up, as I was only doing planetary video stacking. Thank you again, love your work.

A question - my Jupiter pic from the a week or two ago includes three moons. The moons are a bit blurred because of the amount they moved during the video I took. Can derotation fix this?
@DylanODonnell
@DylanODonnell 3 жыл бұрын
I’m no expert on this but I did try and derotate with moons and it smears them as the surface is the reference point .. so no I don’t think so!

Dylan O'Donnell thanks. I have split my original video (six minutes) into 30 second bits. I plane to stack each one then crop every thing but the moons. Then I’ll stack these and see how it goes. Cheers

I'm having an issue trying to de-rotate a set of images. I've followed this procedure, but the final output image is coming out cropped in a lot. So much that jupiter doesn't even fit in the frame. In the original images, jupiter takes up less than 25% of the frame. Why would this be happening and how can i fix it?
