I havnt seen a video that caught my emotional side like this for years now. That was perfect, big props to you Brody. I average 16 seconds for a while now, I did not give up until now, and after this video I espacially wont give up. Determination is a skill everyone that wants to compete in life should be able to focus on and you showed me once again how much cubing can be related to the actual day to day life. So yes, that motivated me on levels my parents couldnt lol I will sit down now, write my applications for university and then I will start learning the dotcases so I finally know full OLL. I will mention you if I ever win something great. Big thanks

I was around 1:20 with beginner method, about a month ago, after years, I finally sucked it up and learned cfop. Yes I was slower at first, yes I messed up alot, but all you need to do is just practice, that’s how you learned how to solve in the first place right? Well now I’m 40-50 secs with my fastest being a 40.2, if you wanna be faster, just take the time. The algos may be intimidating at first but I PROMISE YOU, it’s not as complicated as you think, trust me :)

This can be applied to daily life and not just cubing. Good life lesson! I’m at sub 34 for quite sometime and now I’m retraining myself to be better at F2L. I had a habit at keep doing a beginners method. So I slowed down and doing practice solves. This put my time up 1:10 or so but it not discouraging me, I’ll get better and starting to see my matches a bit faster. Perseverance and time is key! I’ll get to my PB but it’s the journey to get me there that I love. Thanks for posting this Brody!

I got stuck in begginers method for 4 years and lost intrest for another year. Next year I continued with beginners but seemed boring. Then I found someone who cubed with beginners as me but he was waay faster than me. I spent like a month learning reduced cfop an became sub 1 min, that motivated me to continue learning cfop(as i am now). We still compete and i had a PB of 26" and he had 25" but today I cubed a lot and got a some Lucky scramble that lead me to a sub20 PB. That is basicly what keeps up my determination rn.

I don’t often like videos from cubing youtubers but I really see how much you invested into the writing of this video. I started cubing around March of last year (wow that’s a long time) and for months I was stuck on beginner’s method. I learned it from the cheat sheet that came with the box and didn’t even know it was called beginner’s method. With it, I was able to get my average to around one minute, give or take ten seconds. In September I met these other two cubers who were sub-30 and thought they were so good only thanks to finger tricks. But then I realized the way they were solving was very different from mine; cross on bottom, f2l, 4lll was not something I was aware of at all. And when they saw me solve, they found my way of doing it very strange and confusing (I guess they didn’t know or remember beginner’s method?). Today, I’ve learned intuitive f2l and am trying to perfect my 2-look oll. I definitely think it helps with perseverance to be able to view learning new algs and getting new solves as a challenge that would reward new satisfying milestones, much akin to that endorphin hit you mentioned. Thank you for your message my dude. I’m a long way from getting a WR but you made me reflect on this journey and I appreciate that.

This is a great video. I was inseparable from cubing until I slowed down around 17 seconds. I altogether stopped cubing for months. I eventually came back and dropped times eventually to low 15 averages, with occasional sub-15 averages. I was stuck for about 8 months at that level and couldn't improve after learning full OLL. However, I kept grinding and didn't give up. Don't give up, the feeling of finally dropping your times is awesome. I am now sub-14.

Brody described me 2 years ago. I was stuck and was not able to break the sub 20 barrier. After a while, I ended up giving up. But I never stopped dreaming that I’d be sub 10. Finally after making excuses for 2 years I decided to pick up the cube. Going from being rusty and averaging 30 seconds to 17 seconds in 2 weeks made me really happy. I’m not gonna stop until I reach sub 10.

I still remember the day I started getting into speedcubing.I learnt Beginner's Method and showed it to one of my friends (I didn't know him well). He said:" Nice job.Can I borrow the cube?".I gave him the 3x3 and he solved it in matter of seconds. He then showed me one of his best WCA results at the time.It was a sub-10 average.I was amazed. He sent me basic tutorials of CFOP.I started to improve very fast from over a minute to barely sub-30(PB:24.39).But then I ran into a problem.I didn't learn in any kind of order.Sometimes I learn PLL algs and sometimes I learn OLL algs. But the part where I struggle the most(Cross), I tend to avoid it.I started to slow down, practiced a lot but didn't improve at all.I got bored, the dedication wasn't there any more and......I quit.It was a fun time though.

My personal cubing story: I'm 21, started cubing at 18, had a lot of fun and my times were around 25-27 secs. Pretty proud of myself, but I quitted cubing at 19, because I was very busy with university and it was very hard for me to get better. Got back to cubing about 6 months ago, studied all the PLLs list (almost, basically never learnt Gd, I use T and U, yeah I know it's unefficient but it worked till now :') ), studied a lot of OLLs (at least 25), improved my F2L and my cross (I was doing the cross on top and then rotate the cube LOL), improved in look ahead. Now I average around 17, with my best average of 100 being 18.40 and my best average of 5 being 16.09, and my PB, which I'm super proud of, being 11.52. I also took part in my first competition. My objective for 2020: - PB under 10; - average of 5 under 15. Now tell me your #cubingstory!

I started cubing with a speedcube, and I didn’t know how to solve until a year after getting it. That whole time I just kept turning and getting really fast. That was my mistake, I prioritized TPS and fingertricks before even learning to solve. Then I learned beginners method. Sub 1 first day. Then I dropped to two minutes. I couldn’t figure out why. I then gave up. I watched this video, then I went to improve. It’s been 2 months. I’ve learned 4LLL, Keyhole F2L, Basic F2L cases, a t perm, and I get sub 40 with 2 tps. I had perseverance, and you can to. Although I’m far from done learning, I’m still pushing to become better.

so, this is interesting for me, because I _was_ stuck, and I think I'm getting over it now. I think there's a hole in my brain where the part that learns algs should be, so I switched to beginner Roux very early on. but there's not a lot of guidance on how to get fast if you don't already know CFOP, and I was blaming that for progress being hard. recently, I stopped blaming things outside myself, and started to take a hard look at what I'm actually doing to practice, and things are starting to come together a bit better. I watched your old "10 Incredible Techniques..." video again on Monday-after having seen it quite a while back-and saw it in a different way. the diagnosis hasn't changed, but partly by taking responsibility for finding a way through, I feel like I'm making progress in a way that I wasn't a few months ago.

What you said is absolutely true. I completely agree with you. I was averaging around sub 1 minute on 3x3 and that was very frustrating. After the long 3 years of practice i am almost to become sub 15. This required the important skill "perseverance"

Umm I became from sub 1 minute to sub 20 in just one year... My parents were scolding me for not studying, but now they are proud of me

Not sure if you will get back to me on this one but I’ll ask anyway. I am not a color neutral solver but what is the best way to become color neutral? Would you suggest drilling the same color every time until you are used to it or would you pick the cross color for each solve while practicing? I currently use white for most solves unless I see a ridiculously easy yellow. Happy cubing.

Something weird happened with my speedcubing journey. When I was little (like sub-10 agewise) I used to be really interested in cubing, but I only used beginner's and not-so-great "speedcube." I brought my PB to sub-1, then pretty much stopped. Every once in a while I'd bring the cube around and solve it a few times, eventually I realized I was getting 10-20 seconds below what I thought was my PB but that was about it. I never learned CFOP at that time and lost interest. Last year, though, a friend got me interested in cubing again, and over this time I did what I couldn't do for years: I learned full CFOP (minus 10ish OLL algs), I have much better cubes, and I'm sub-20 with no sign of losing interest anytime soon. So... I guess the moral of the story is that even if you lose interest once, you can gain that interest later. Basically exactly what's been described at the end of the video. Don't give up on your ability to stop giving up!
