Damn, Caitlin! You just described my last marriage! I know that I can be a pain in the arse sometimes, maybe more than some women can tolerate, but others say I'm dynamite in bed and very thoughtful, but just not their idea of a husband. I'm a 61-year-old man and I've been married and divorced 4 times! The first M&D was out of my own stupidity in marrying a less than faithful girl at a very young age. I soon discovered that she just had a problem with keeping her legs together around men who were not me. I initiated this divorce, but the other 3 were for other reasons. The last was because of the very subject you are describing. She actually married me just to have a kid. Once pregnant, and a few years after our daughter was born, she stopped almost all sexual contact. She even told me while going through the divorce that she was never really attracted to me from the beginning, but married me anyway. It broke my heart to feel this rejection. The whole 14- year marriage was stifling, and it was almost a dry well regarding sexuality. Whenever we did have sex, she got herself off quickly (cowgirl), and if I didn't get there, she just rolled off and went to sleep. I know...it's just like a stereotypical guy, but it was still painful. I'm over it now, and my standards are fairly high now for a partner. I never thought about "try before you buy" with a woman before, but now I know that this is a must. Sorry for the long post! Just venting! Approaching every situation as if i am the problem is the healthiest way we can start to problem solve. It's important for us to recognize what we may be doing wrong before approaching a partner. When you discussed a problem you had with your partner, how far did you get when starting out saying it's not my fault but yours? Starting the conversation this way shows you are not afraid to take responsibility. Likely, the conversation would change to mutual responsibility once your partner knows you're committed. You should not be focused on whose fault it is but rather starting the conversation in a manner that shows you are willing to take responsibility even if it's not your fault. Neutons third law for every action in nature there is an equal and opposite reaction. Cause and effect for everything, for people, we have additional variables that are sometimes not easily described and dont follow a trend. It's easy to think it isn't our fault. it's easier to see fault in others. We dont carry around a mirror observing ourselves from the outside. We can't be responsible for anyone but ourselves, you cant force someone else to do something. If you want a reaction, act on yourself and see what happens :)

I usually love the content Caitlin, but all I heard was: 1. Don't blame her. 2. She is probably just stressed out, so lighten her load. 3. She's not going to initiate sex unless you give her a reason to, so do things for her and she will want to f@(k you. 4. Women fear rejection (men fear it too because we get rejected and shamed for our desires all the time, often by our partners), so be supportive to your woman. 5. Talk about your feelings regarding sex(that's the quickest way to cause the Sahara desert down there, she doesn't want to hear it, even if she says she does, she doesn't want to hear that you are unsatisfied.). 6. Help her to assert her boundaries, by practicing, so both of you can get used to her saying 'no' to you. (my girlfriend has no idea how to say no, so this sort of makes sense to me) 7. Upgrade your sex, because you're probably not doing it for her like you used to. 8. It's not about the sex, it's because there is an emotional disconnect either between you or within herself. All this is another long list of things the man has to do for the woman, but why would this cause her to initiate sex? It just sounds like "happy wife, happy life to me". The man has to do all these things and all she has to do is put out. It still sounds like the man is initiating though? What we want is unexpected initiation from the woman, showing her desire for you. My girlfriend enjoys sex with me, but has not initiated sex ever. We have been dating for 5 years and I have to make all the advances. Now don't get me wrong, I believe the advice would be valid, but is of no use to me when my partner is not interested in being open and honest about why she is not initiating, then all it is, is me trying all the above steps and her just pushing me further away, because why does everything have to be about sex with me. It doesn't help that I am trying to upgrade my sex life, if my partner is not interested in doing the same. From the comments, I can see I am not alone in feeling this way. Maybe she is just not attracted to me and I am the plan B. Time for me to move on...

There’s some things that also could be mentioned in another video, after trying everything that you’ve recommended; having a frank conversation about asexuality, bisexuality and of feminine gay sexuality. There’s a lot of women who’re bi-curious, fantasising about having illicit sexual encounters; there’s also a lot of gay ladies who fantasise about turning a straight heterosexual woman as well, in real life it is more common than most people realise. Hormone changes in women change due to peri-menopause & the menopause which also affect ladies, also learned behaviour patterns from older female relatives who didn’t enjoy sex at all. After 1.5 years into a psych therapy I learned that tethering our own happiness into the hands of our love one is the receipe for a disaster. Healthy couples are formed by 1 happy men and 1 happy women that both wants to be happy together. What I don’t like about your analysis is that the women need the men to act a certain way to make his girlfriend feel a certain way. For me it’s a red flag. It’s conditional. Libido is one of the things that goes through the floor as women's hormones reduce...it also causes MANY more problems that we aren't even necessarily aware of as they happen gradually over a long time. Basically mist women gradually lose who they are with the inset and progression of menopause. HRT is great for helping women get back to themselves and for getting back...and sometimes increasing pre meno libido. Can I suggest you research this and have an informed conversation with your partner. You may well find she is relieved and grateful that you understand. I really can't recommend HRT highly enough.

As a menopausal woman who has experienced utter loss of libido and many other symptoms which made me and hundreds of thousands of other women feel pointless and dried up, I believe for most of us that it IS that simple. Since I started HRT, my libido has increased to more than pre menopause and I feel great...and I often initiate! What's the worst that can happen if you encourage and support your wife to investigate the benefits of HRT? Frankly, I think it would be bloody marvellous if a MAN recognised how horrible and debilitating menopause is and supported a lady to get the treatment she needs to get back to herself. Be him!

Thank you. This is good information. My gf and I started hooking up 15 months ago and at the time she was in a toxic relationship she felt she was stuck in. We formally became exclusive 4 months ago and we spend most of our time together when we're not at work or school. We have great sex and she tells that we have such great sex. I find that I have a much higher sex drive than her. Sometimes we'll have sex everyday for almost a week straight and sometimes it's every 2-3 days. When i was with my baby mama i was used to sex almost daily or more than once a day. Imho When I'm with the right man, I feel 90% or more and I will be comfortable initiating sex. Stress does make things a lot harder to relax and want sex. Especially when there's way too much going on. It does matter how things go in the bedroom and how you treat them outside of the bedroom. Hopefully this gives some helpful perspective. Ill use my own personal experience to explain. I started dating in my late 20's and felt behind the curve and ignorant. I had three relationships learned a ton, made mistakes and more importantly discovered what i wanted from a relationship. At this point i was tired of similair things you described and figured why not try putting it all out there. I figured a dating app could be helpful and chose one that is typically more casual local hookups. I see them as a way to advertise and a way to filter people. My now Fiancé has told me the absolute biggest turn on and specifically what stood out to her was my honesty and confidence stating what i wanted before the first date, my page outlined the things i liked and disliked and what my long term goals were for a relationship. Its ok to admit you dont know what you want also, many women will agree and feel similair. Sets the tone for you to explore together, and atleast you start out with an understanding of your expectations :)

Due to hip issues the last 1.5 years my wife has not wanted sex very much. It causes her pain to have her legs up and she doesn't want me to make her orgasm because the tensing up causes pain issues. I normally last a long time but she just wants me to get it over quick to minimize her issues.
