Knight Warrior Dead or Alive 2 Hardcore, with all the nostalgia I have for it, will remain one of my favorite fighting games ever. It’s a shame DOA has a rep of “anime tiddies, volleyball, 500 cosmetic skins” considering how much fun it is.

Thanks for the almost shout out at 54:45. DOA6 depresses me so hard because it's basically just a worse DOA5. DOA5's training mode was so much better. Not only did it give you names for all your moves but it ALSO had the Dynamic Movelist from DOA Dimensions on 3DS wherin it displays a movelist in the corner of the screen that skips to whatever move your doing and shows the follow-ups. Like if you press Forward+Punch it skips to show you Forward+PP, Forward+PK, Forward+Down P and so on. It was GREAT and I wish every 3D fighter had that! But no, DOA6 was too rushed. I mean, the game was ANNOUNCED as a rushed POS. At E3 2018 they said "The game is 5% complete. It comes out in Spring." and at 15% they said "Nyotengu and Phase-4 are preorder and Digital Deluxe bonuses. Please enjoy this trailer of them." outright admitting they were cutting content and selling it back to us. It's SUCH a shame. I'll always go to bat for DOA5. It was one of the most respectful and well handled fighting games I've ever played. That $1000 of DLC? Yeah that's because it's FIVE YEARS of regular DLC releases at $2 apiece. But it's almost all costumes. Game came with 7 costume to unlock per character in Vanilla, they released a few free DLCs, and then kept releasing more and more costumes. Stages were free, balance patches were frequent, they advertised community tournaments on the game's title screen. DOA5 was great. Then here comes DOA6 and get this, they literally CUT Nyotengu's Digital Deluxe Edition costume OUT of the Deluxe Edition and you have to pay for the $92 Season Pass if you want it. Season Passes come with half as much content as they did in DOA5. Costumes are only sold individually on XBone. You want a bikini for Lisa? Pay $20 for half the cast's bikinis. Want one for Lei-Fang? Bad news, she's in the other half. $20. By the way you're paying for costumes for the DLC characters we cut out of the game too. Heck, you realize that "Go to the Store and spend money" button didn't even work for the first couple MONTHS?! The game is a dumpster fire! That ain't even getting into them cutting Tag Mode for the first time since DOA1. What happened was that KoeiTecmo wants to use the Dynasty Warriors 9 engine as their universal engine for all games. You know, like Frostbite for EA. DOA6 was their test run. I'm...gonna call this a failure. See, here's the worst part: DOA6 made JUST enough tweaks and improvements that it's hard for some to go back to DOA5, but it cut SO MUCH CONTENT that was in DOA5 that you can't help but feel ripped off when you play DOA6. So you don't wanna play DOA6 because it's so lacking compared to 5 and you can't go back to 5 and...DOA is over as a fighting game. I'm sorry. I'll miss it. DOA5 Forever. (...but real talk, Bloody Roar is better anyway)

Just a clarification about stage bans. No stage in DOA ever is banned because of its hazards. Some stages are currently banned in the official world circuit because they have bugs, out of bounds stuff, and they decided to ban those. But the rule for stage in general is to random select and keep the stage hazards.

See I always assumed that side series was made by a different, smaller dev team ( I'm a big Ninja gaiden fan). But unless I'm mistaken, it was in fact developed internally @ team ninja! Itagaki, maybe realizing how surprising this was, gave an explanation during an interview as to why this was the case and why he wanted to make the volleyball games in the first place...look up the interview people (Wikipedia has it I think).

​@@aceflibble 1 .You don't look at frame data to "min-max safe combos", you use it to gauge your options. Don't try to sidestep this one, -6 on hit is awful in a game with 5 frame throws. 2. DOA is the least psychological 3D fighting game out there. The critical stun system IS the game, neutral be damned. It comes down to a hold or a hi counter throw, that's it. You can't play it out in neutral. 3. Yeah, the game isn't for me. I figured that out in DOA5 when I tried to sidestep a PPP string only to get retracked on the second hit. The series is about a decade behind Tekken/VF in terms of mechanics and the "use meter to sidestep attack patch" shows that it isn't gonna get better.
