As does everyone else, I have lots of leftover scraps including fabric and batting. I have been trying to use p some in QAYG projects like table runners and toppers and mug rugs. So this is another great project for that. But I haven't been brave enough or taken the time to use my rulers and the specialty foot I bought to use with them. This is a fabulous project to finally jump in and give the ruler work a try. Thank you!

Love love this. Am currently going through my stash to organize scraps, leftover pieces, and fat quarters. I made a bunch of 10" squares on foundation papers with Christmas strips and am now tired of that. This would have been so much easier than cutting strips! On my To Do List for new runners I need. Thanks and Happy New Year! 🇨🇦🍁

Great video thank you - could you do a video demonstrating how to use the quilting rulers please? I have tried, I have the correct foot as well and I am having trouble to say the least. I am using a Janome Atelier Machine. Love all your videos Laura looking forward to your next one. Thank you, Linda (from England) x

I love doing QAYG aka stich and flip. I completed two full size quilts before Christmas using 10" blocks. I have two more on the table to complete then I'm using up scraps from all of those for some lap quilts to give away.

Fabulous Laura….I would have loved to have seen you do some of the ruler work as I’ve just got the Bernina Q16 ( a Xmas present 👏👏👏 ) and still learning how to drive it 🤣… I tried using the ruler for the first time the other day but couldn’t seem to move the fabric and ruler at the same time..and follow the ruler shape ! Though I did discover I hadn’t taken the protective plastic cover off 😂. Maybe you could do a video on some “ how to do” and tips for us beginners. Happy New Year 🥳

That was great! I love your work. I have tried several times in my life to do a quilt but it never looked right. This approach gives me some hope. I have an old machine that was my mothers. I don't understand a lot of terms you use but maybe I can figure this out. The walking foot...is that the foot that is generally used for regular stitching? Those rulers are pretty cool too. I don't have much space between the foot and the material so I don't know if I could use those. I'm quite the novice as you can see. I do all kinds of crafts but sewing and working with yarn have never been good for me.

A walking foot is one that feeds fabric layers through exactly evenly, so good for quilting. It is not the standard foot you get with a sewing machine. Unless your machine is fancier of course. I bought my Elna 520 in 2014 and had to buy the walking foot “kit” separately.

@@KelleysQuiltsandCruises Thanks. No, it was my mom's. It's not old old but its just not my thing I guess. I'm 67 and I've struggled with sewing forever. However, I can take measurements and make clothes....

I think if you keep working at it you will succeed.! If you can sew clothes you can quilt! There is a whole world of you tube artists, you can learn from. Start with easy and small projects. Hot pads, mug rugs, placemats and this table runner should get you going. Watch many videos and ask questions. Good luck ❤️😀

Have you seen a rag quilt? Those are simple quilts to get you started and build confidence, a walking foot is perfect for them. The blocks can be quilted if using batting, or left plain if using fabric only. Please let me know if you have questions, there are plenty of tutorials here, as well.
