Good morning Laura Ann, What a bonnie pattern to decorate your lovely wee quilt with. I think i love the back just that teeny weeny bit more than the front and i love the front with it's lovely wreaths. This wee quilt would be beautiful with wee decorations like bells and bows at the top of the wreaths, but i know you don't want it to be directional. This would add that look of Christmas to someone in a home, but being easy enough to take down after the season was over. I wish i could longarm because i would make them for all the auld sowls near me, as we have a lot of old folks homes around and it's not possible for them all to be able to have a tree of any size in their rooms, but they could have this either above their beds or across from them to see. I have only made my first quilt and finished it at the start of the week, and although it is far, far from perfect, i am still so pleased that i tried. I am going to use the scraps left from my wee grandsons ' quilt to make a quilt and pillow for my friend's wee grandson and his dollys pram that he is getting for Christmas. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work with us and sending crafty hugs across the water, from Norah, Glenochil Village, Central Scotland

I have been quilting for what seems like 100 years now, but have never heard of using the Crayola Washable Markers. 😊 Thank you so much for showing how you mark your quilts. I quit using the Frixion markers because of a problem I experienced with them. You made quilting your own quilt look so doable so I’ll give it a go now. I learn so much from your videos and appreciate the time and effort you put into each one.

I love your videos. This one was very helpful. I hadn't seen anyone using the Crayola washable markers so those will be ordered tomorrow! I am 69 and just started quilting a couple years ago off & on. It's now on big time as I have been buying Accuquilt products because I have rheumatoid arthritis developing in my hands. I am looking forward to finding those patterns you drew on your quilt. Thank you for teaching this older lady some new tricks.

Okay keep watching. Just donot want to be stuck with white or light backing, even though it has its own majic. Thinking about using a very large needle over my paper design. Then using chalk pad over pattern and if I do more than one row using hair spray to keep pattern from wearing off chalk. You have been so inspirational. It just that I like dark back grounds for teens. I have many. Your ideas and work blows me out of the water. Watch you all the time. I like and subscribe. You are so smart. Thanks.

Drawing on the backing piece is a great idea; however, the title said quilting without a long arm and then you used a huge machine with a massive work opening. It would be nice to see how to do on a regular sewing machine. The fabric management is my biggest concern.

Fantastic Tutorial Laura! I haven't ever seen the specific safety pins with the plastic colored bar tops you used to baste the quilt, where can I get some of those?? Hi! what a Beautiful Quilt! I love it! The pattern is amazing and I am so thankful that you went over this in such detail. Awesome! I would like to know if you have any suggestion if the fabric is darker and you are unable to see through to trace over the pattern. Thank you.
@susanmiller31702 жыл бұрын
I was wondering if you could use an old fashioned tracing wheel and tracing paper to transfer it to dark fabric. You would definitely need to test and wash before tracing all of it. You could place the design on top of the quilt using the tracing paper.

I have only used a light colored background or back fabric once. Usually their medium colored. So how do you transfer in that case? The last one I tried myself I taped yellow paper or pinned it on top of the quilting design and traced that with the marker and then pinned the yellow paper onto my quilt and then stitched it and I had to do four long rows for a 48 inch wide quilt. As you might imagine it's a pain to remove the yellow paper.
