Just imagine where the 9800X3D will land with it's frequency being closer to the non X3D variants before it, and due to higher TDP's, it can seemingly keep much higher all-core clocks than the 7800X3D as well.! Performance is going to be very interesting all round and I can't wait for your launch day review. Keep up the excellent work.

I would just like to point out, the power use efficiency marketing point taking years to offset and thus being pointless has long been the ridiculous argument for video cards. Nvidia has had both worse and better efficiency, and every time they're more efficient they pretend it's worth $200+ premium over AMD. It's not, and never has been, nor are they consistently more efficient. It's an insane argument, one that needs to go away. Especially when your card idles on the desktop. Sad that it takes Intel to finally call out this nonsense, and hilariously it's probably because it's considered acceptable to do it compared to AMD. This would NEVER happen comparing video cards. This talking point MYTH has been repeated for decades on Reddit, with never enough push back to get rid of it. It needs to go away. Thanks for pointing it out.

When Roman made his video about this and how the power wasn't going to have to be measured from 12V line alone, the first thing that came to my mind was "is it going to show that Intel isn't actually that much more improved power efficient (50% claim), but a lot of reviewers will think it is because they don't have enough due diligence to account for a lot of the power now being drawn from a plug that carries a lot of other components?" And here we are, peak improvements may be in the 50% range, but in general, much less so. On top of that, Intel CPU's, even with this substantial power usage improvement, still use nearly double the power of their AMD equivalents. Lets hope that with them moving to the chiplet design, they'll be able to rapidly re-engineer their CPU cores to actually do better. Also, to be fair, everything and everyone has issues with EAC. It's an overly aggressive anti cheat nuisance that sometimes won't start games because it detects Visual Studio or other development tools installed on a system.

That's also crazy. Intel should have resources to test board partners, but Intel can be weird. They don't have to test every model; just a few random boards in the lineup. I like treating APO like AMD PBO. That's too many launch issues. Rainbox Six tuning? Will we finally get 700 FPS? The most interesting CPU in the charts is the 9700X ($329 at Best Buy right now), sometimes the 9600X. At $329, the 9700X is much better deal for gaming than the 285k ($589 MSRP)

My 7950x3d feels like it will last 7 years and still be insane fast then :D Hell the Zen 6 10950x3d doenst feel tempting anymore as upgrade :o for me 5800x3d didnt make sense (wanted more cores) and some motherboards where quited dated, same with RAM, i waited until motherboard, ram and cpu had a decent discount, and free game. No regrets, especially with this unimpressive successors. And unlike almost all current cpu's, (especially 16 core cpu's), it is power efficient. Imo 7950x3d is underrated, it's not top of chart at most things, but it's top 3-10 at most other things, even the 7800x3d fails that, in blender type stuff. Or 14900k/7950x in power efficiency, or in gaming (285k). Especially with 7800x3d (and probably 9800x3d) price hike, i think people should strongly consider 7950x3d if they do more then gaming, it was 514€!!! on amazon prime day (630 otherwise). For the low extra price over 7800x3d, the whole price to performance 'anti 7950x3d' argument gets minimized quickly. In fact for productivity it is better price/performance then 7800x3d now.

Much as I appreciate having simulation games like stellaris and/or factorio in the benchmarks, I think you may be running a bit too small of a save file for those. As you increase the load to the point that people would actually start having issues, the relative scaling tends to shift a lot. Ex- factorio is a game that is locked to 60 UPS, so looking at a save that has CPUs giving 200-400 UPS means little since they are all more then fine, while a save which is pushing top end CPUs down to around 60 UPS really shows which CPUs will actually make a difference in terms of how large the factory can grow before you get issues. And logic may expect that a CPU giving 400 UPS vs one giving 300 will mean that at 60, it becomes 60 vs 45, but it winds up performing differently, given that as the base gets bigger, the importance of memory speed, latency, cache, and cpu speed change a lot. I expect something similar to hold true in stellaris. Overall, my thought here is that you may get better results looking not for how the CPUs compare when running the game normally, but rather at how far they let you get with the game before performance drops below acceptable levels. I have been kicking around several ideas for potentially good benchmarks in this vein, looking into the point that the CPU actually starts to degrade the experience for the user, since most of the data currently posted, while useful for relative comparisons, doesn't really show how things wind up looking at that cliff, for the things where you actually can hit that cliff.

As a PC user, I am constantly looking for ways to upgrade and improve the performance of my device. I was pleased to see Gamers Nexus compare the older generations of CPUs in their charts, including the 2700x and the 3700x. They may be a few years and generations old, but they are still modern CPUs. As someone who uses an R7 CPU, there is no real reason for me to move to a newer socket. My current performance is already better than most in the neighborhood. Just because a device isn't the latest and greatest doesn't mean it's bad. I believe that if you try someone else's computer, you will find yourself missing your own PC with an older Ryzen processor. One more thing just look at how freaking impressive the 5700x3D and 5800x3D perform in the video when you get to the game charts. It is almost like x3D on AM4 is still top dog in most games just wow what a strong product feature AMD has locked down.

Thank you so much for including frame to frame latency into the charts I remember sending that request in the email a while back, and I can't say I am the sole reason for bringing that into the chart, but I am very thankful personally for adding frame to frame latency talk and spacing between the spikes on the graph. It's imperative to overall feel of the games, and I watch my frame to frame latency intervals meticulously because of it. I can't remember running any games without overlay now because of it. Frame to frame latency really tells a bigger story, and bad frame to frame spikes usually result in huge 0.1% drops that also impact 1% lows, so they are parallel to each other and give you an understanding if your 300+ FPS average game actually feels like 300+ average game. As better frame to frame latency can impact the feel so much that 140 fps with better frame to frame latency will feel more responsive compared to 300 fps one with higher spikes. Thank you, Gamers Nexus you guys incorporated something super important for gaming. Keep expanding on it, as it truly tells a bigger picture of how GPUs and CPUs respond in games in conjunctions with each other. CPUs really impact GPUs ability to maintain that frame to frame.
