KZbin now allows vertical streams to show up in Shorts and mobile-focused areas of the app, which means you have the potential to reach more viewers and keep them around longer by streaming both at the same time. Here's how to do it with one OBS instance.

I’m really hoping KZbin makes it so you can send horizontal and vertical versions without having to create two streams. It just makes so much sense to have a button that’ll let you swap to a better view of the stream, and it’d be so much nicer to only have to manage a single chat.

They already have the code to do so. they do it with the 360 videos. its able to give best fov from 9:16, to 16:9 and 4:3 ratios. they would only need to add KZbin studio overlay editing. for alot of things.

The only thing I think I would like KZbin to explore with this is actually handling two livestreams at the same time in the studio. Single chat source, both streams in one place with stats, possibly a link to the full frame version of the stream (could be a pinned or bot comment though I suppose). It's just only slightly a pain to manage both streams (doable with a little effort).

Great setup guide, I've tried streaming vertically a handful of times. I get a huge boost, 40+ people watching, and then shortly after it will drop down to no viewers. Am I getting hit with artificial views, or is my content just that bad? I see vert streams with black screens that have 100+ people watching, so I dunno

Is it true KZbin removes your verticals stream from the algorithm if you have both orientations live at the same time? I had read that somewhere and then noticed that very early into the stream I would get a lot more viewers then after about 15 minutes its down to almost none.

Most bots atm can only be in one stream at a time, so they often prefer the last to go live or be made as an event

Interesting but whenever i start the vertical stream - I can not find my horizontal one anywhere even though they are both on. And if the horizontal stream was started first - can not find the vertical one on the channel. And ideas how to fix? Two different keys created and used.

Personally I'm using AV1 encode for vertical because KZbin supports it but I'm also doing twitch and full-frame youtube at the same time which is still x264 for now.

Streaming both formats at once is a similar workflow for TikTok’s desktop app; you just don’t have to make separate stream events
